Long story short... Several months ago I'd started taking hrt with all the usual tests before hand. After being on them a month my facial hair realy started growing. as well as the hair on my legs. Up and until that point in my life I was not a verry hairy person(I'd usualy only shave about once a week). And I'd become verry short tempered. So i was sent to an endocrenoligist(i think I spelled it right). Where I was told that even though I was "normal" man that my body had increased testostarone production to counter the hormones. It was then discovered after stoping the hrt that I was already producing estrogen on my own. Though they were small amounts by female standard were huge compared to most men. I I slowly started geting back to my old self. But now over the last four months I've developed mystrious problems with my pancreas that is wreaking havock with my nervous system. I have since been to every specialist known to man. With mixed results at best. I was just wondering if any one else has either had this problem or can help.. Or even least maybe learn somthing new.. All I realy know is that when I have one of these "attacks" they realy suck and I don't like hospitals..Thank you for any reply In advance.. Please send me an e-mail if you have any a question. (as I have been extremly busy tring to get every thing caught back up after my last stay in the hospital) Amber

Gosh, that sounds awful Amber! At least you've discovered that you have large amounts of natural estrogen!
All this despite a full checkup before commencing treatment? I have no personal knowledge of the side effects of HRT, but if your Pancreas is damaged, I'd stop HRT until your body recovers. And you say your body 'increased testostarone production to counter the hormones'? Weren't you also taking a tetesterone blocker in addition to the estrogen?
Well, regardless of all the medical preparedness, the body doesn't always go with the game plan! Just take care of your immediate health concerns before going back to HRT!

Hormones try their best to balance out. So adding either estrogen or testosterone to someone's system will automatically cause the body to increase production of the opposite hormone to seek the balance that the body believes to be the correct one.
However, there are ways of blocking the testosterone from being used by your body. I would have a talk with my endo about what anti-androgens are available. The most common anti-androgens prescribed are very mild and while they work well for the average TS.. we're not all average are we???
I'd also recommend a good GP. Seeing a gzillion dif specialists often means that everyone is looking at a dif small portion of the one core prob.. but nobody has that whole picture.
I hope that you can find out what the pancreatic upset is and that you can regain your good health.

Yes we are not all average and that is were the problem was I can only guess at this point. I have since stoped all hormone treatment for nearly seven months,(which did include androgen blockers) but have had two "attack"s in the last four.... the only thing I've found so far is that maybe I have an underling problem but no doctor has been able to tell me what it is. Only that certian kind's of verry srong tranquiizers in short use seem to help. I feel much improved over my last couple weeks since my last episode with no drugs at all. What has realy bothered me is the why it happened and will it come back again. thnx for all replys ..

Hey Indiana girl... I too am from there origionally...
So, was it Spironolactone that you were taking for an androgen?
I've never heard of anything like that happening. However we are all different, no matter how much we are the same. You might try Anne Lawrence's website, I think you can find it in the links section. Send her an email, she might be able to point you to someone who may have some expertise.
