I'm in Oregon, and was wondering if anyone else is, so I can find out where they go to get their make-up done.
My wife gets really pissed when I use her make-up. She says, "now I know what it's like to have a girl in the house and she just got into her mothers make-up. :Angry3:

I don't know about others but it best if you have your own stuff and not just for hygene reasons.
I would not wear anything of My SO, She doesn't think it's right, (and really neither do I unless lent, given etc!)
It's one less thing to fall out about, if you each have you own!

Have to agree with Tracy here, buy your own and get your own colours, you never know your wife may then keep asking if she can borrow yours :)

Just hit the yellow pages. Look under cosmetics. Merl Norman will give lessons. They do half of your face and you do the other half. I think they have a charge for that. Any of the large dept stores that have a makeup dept will usually give you a makeover, for buying a certain ammount of products. Kohl's does makeovers free. At least at the stores here in West Michigan. Or you can just experiment. Get a cheap foundation, Wet N Wild, as close to your color and buy the number above and below. $3 something each. Then just get a blush, and don't put on too much, and get a eye shadow with lots of colors. It's fun playing with makeup. But if you want to pass, get a GG to help you and to train you. Some womens magazines have makeup tips too.
When I'm experimenting with different ideas, I take a picture, so I can look at it later. My mirror lies to me, the camera tell the truth. I hope this helps...BJ

for people in the UK, Argos do a good range on makeup sets, basically you buy by numbers pay one place collect another, and it comes in a box, people will just assume it a present, over for yourself.

Not from there but you really need to get yor own makeup!! Shouldn't share for hygene reasons, and your probably not the same skin tones as your wife is. So head to walmart and get the debit card out!! LOL

You should probably just walk to your local drug store and hit the shelves. And besides, it's fun to select from more colors, shades and tones. Can get a touch expensive...but nothing's free nowadays.

I've done the drug stores, Merle Norman, and the deptment stores. A few times I've had the pleasure of transexuals to do my make up at home. They know the tricks of the trade very well.
Once a TS did my make up for me at my home. My wife was outside working in the yard. When the make up was done, my wife nearly feel out of her work boots when I opened the front door. Her comment " VERY VERY HOT AND SEXY". She couldn't beleive how will it looked. Especially, when the TS used only the make up that I already had. Unfortunely these people haVE moved on.
The phonebooks work, (sometimes), but having a referral is a good thing.

You seem to have a good bit of experience having makeup applied to you Chantal. Didn't you learn anything from watching it be applied?
It's really not that hard. The makeup I have on in my Avatar was a first time application, after 29 years of not wearing it.
Practice, practice, practice.
And there are books available as a guide if you need one.

Hi,
Another vote for getting your own. I have never felt it right to borrow from the SO.
As for makeover, I had one done at the Estee Lauder counter at a dept store. I was honest with the girl and she was wonderful. I told her I needed some new eye shadow, some advice as to what and how and some understanding. She grinned, told me to get on the stool and did a wonderful job for me. Then she gave me a sketch of what she did and where. It is my bible. Good luck and enjoy. It is so much fun.

Don't know where you are in Oregon, I'm from Eastern WA. I go to a nearby Walgreens. Once you shop or look at colors, you can always order online. So very much is available there. Target has an excellent selection of easily accessible cosmetics, etc. If you're self conscious, go near special days: mother's day, Christmas, birthdays, etc. You can always explain you're shopping for your SO. Find what you want, write down the numbers/descriptions, and go online to order.
Love and Luck

My hubby had this done in the UK, the girls were so nice and now when we go into the store they allways give us samples to try, infact we get on so well with them that our daughter is having her makeup done there for her Prom, free of charge.

I guess I'm either too lazy or too old to start to learn makeup techniques. I have found several salons that are happy to do a makeup application and nail polish for me. I go into the back room, change into my outfit, and then they do their magic. My money is just as good as anyone else's, and some of the cosmetologists seem to enjoy the challenge of making me look feminine. I enjoy the experience also, feeling pampered, like a massage. They also style my wigs, as much as possible, so that the hairstyle looks feminine also.
I just stopped by at various salons, and asked if they do makeup. If they do, I ask how much would they charge to make me up like a woman. I usually explain that it is for a costume party, and I just want to get a preview. Then it turns into a month event, and they don't seem to wonder why I have so many costume parties to go to.

I would recommend Merle Norman at http://www.merlenorman.com and look under locations for one near you. What I like about them is the privacy--you aren't sitting a dept. store counter with the world going by. I have had three makeovers at three different ones this past year. Many have private areas or can accomodate before opening. Like one of the women there told me..."If you are in this business just a little while, you get used to men wanting makeup for themselves!" Go for it and let us know how it went.
