Well, I made the appointment and then went and tried electrolysis for the first time. I was surprised that, most of the time, it didn't hurt too badly. I decided to start with under the lip as I always shave that area, even when I had a full beard. Occasionally the electric current felt like an intense burning sensation, but most hairs just felt a little tingle and then a pinch as she pulled the hair out. Not much more unpleasant than tweezing.

This morning the lip is just kind of numb and just a little swollen, no real redness. If this works well for me then I have to decided to continue on and start working up from the neck. I figured if I chicken out before it reaches my cheeks and moustach area I'd be alright. The way I feel about it today, though, I think I will like it.

It will be so nice to just go and be able to put make-up on when I feel like it instead of spending 1/2 hour doing a close shave. I also prefer the light natural almost no make-up look and you can't maintain that with any kind of beard. I stopped at the MAC counter to get particulars on what they charge. The one in Burlington, Mass. charges $90 for a 90 minute application and instruction. You do have to sit in the front window of the store while they do it but I am getting to be more of an exhibitionist lately! I am planning that as a reward for the pain sometime later in the year. If I do 2 hours a month I should be seeing good progress before Christmas.

How has the experience been for you other girls? How much have you had done? What have you had done? Any other skin treatments?

I've had 2 sessions so far both mainly been trying to find out what works best on me. I have very dry skin, so galvanic doesn't tend to work very well. Thermolysis works, but it has to be on a really high setting for 3 seconds. OUCH!!!

I'm getting it done at my local college's beauty salon, it's trainees doing it but it only costs £3 per session! the only problem is that they only do it on certain days of the week so I have to take time off work. I'm aiming for an hour a week. I really can't stand my hair, I'd go as far as to say I have a phobia of it

Most MAC in Canada I've visited in To, Ottawa and Montreal will do makeup for you if you buy some product, like lashes.....About $15! The Body shop asks for as little as a $5 donation to anti-violence against women...

Some day it would be nice just to get rid of bady hair, when the time comes I may try it.

I've had some stray hairs done on my back. When the hair is not ingrown, it doesn't hurt at all...but...when it is ingrown and she has to "dig" it out...oweeeeee!!! I don't feel anything when she pulls the hair out after its been zapped. My electo uses "blend" which is a mixture of galvanic and thermo. I plan on zapping my beard starting soon if my electrologist has done any in the past (I don't want to be her first).
