12 the Magic Age?

I have noticed that many boys who started to CD while still living at the family home did so, usually by wearing a pair of their sister's or mother's panties, at or near to the age of 12, I did so myself.

Did anyone else start at that age and is this because it is about that time that many boys start puberty and in many cases move from Primary to Secondary/Grammar/High School?

Teenager years...seems to be right for me. Once I became sexually active, I used to enjoy finding out what type of panties a girl had on underneath her jeans. Started at 12 for me too----Althiugh I had been "Intimidated" by lipstick (The threat of having it put on me or getting on me ) since about age 8, I FINALLY faced my "fear" of it at the age of 12 when I bravely decided to "bite the bullet" and apply some of my mother's red lipstick MYSELF when I was home alone one day.---I later kept adding items, bras, hose, etc. untill I was fully dressing a year or so later when I had the chance. For me it began at 14. My bondage fetish also kicked in at that time. In the beginning when I first started to dress I would usually put on a skirt and a pair of pantyhose (I would often find a used pair in the trash). I disagree.. I have memories that go back to when I was 6 looking up at my mom's clothes in her closet, and then didn't officially wear anything female until I was at least 15 or 16 (mom divorced and left when I was 12).

Same here...around 12. Was part of a play in school for the annual day and it was make-up time. All the guys were pushing each other to go first (since it was icky make-up), but for some reason you're truly loved the feeling of blush-on and lipstick and even asked the teacher to touch it up before the play, "cos my lips were feeling dry"!
And threre began the saga of an individual whose life would neve be the same again.

Unfortunately some of the things puberty can trigger are not as simple as crossdressing.

I think that, as there are different ROOT CAUSES that cause the CD urge in people, The AGE when one begins may be dependant on that. A true Transsexual, person (male born with a female brain for example or forms of gender disphoria) might CD ot have urges at a much earlier age, than one who gets into CD for more "sexually" based reasons. Puberty may be a key here.

Also I am sure that 90% of all men/boys have CDed at least ONCE in their lives--say for Halloween or a school or club function. ANd most never do it again---But a few of us may discover "Plesant effects", such as relaxation, etc. --not to mention some sexual ones that may encourage more CDing and a CD habbit.----10-12 years old is also a good time for this to begin too

For me it started at about age 3 when I happened on a pair of my mom's panties, tried them on ,then my grandmother saw me and told my mom. I then didn't see my moms panties around for the next 15 or so years, I guess she knew that there might be a problem and didn't want to contribute to it.
So age 12 I saw an old pair in a vacant lot in my neighborhood and took them home, only to be seen and thrown out by my mom.

Puberty is an important step, because of the awaking sexuality (though children have it too) and because you become more of an individual.
You get your "own" power of judgment, which produces interest and guilt feelings. In combination with the awaking sexuality, I assume that's why experiences during puberty brand on one’s memory.

And yes, when I was 11 and 12 I was fully dressing in my mother's clothes -- from panties and bras, hosiery and slips to dresses and skirtsuits and high heels. By 12 I was also experimenting with a little makeup, if I had enough time. I was a latchkey kid which meant I had an hour or so to try clothes on after I got off the school bus. When I was 12 going on 13, in seventh grade, that's when my mother almost caught me red-handed and confronted me about trying on her clothes (this was in the early '80s). Since I'm almost 50, I can't recall the exact age, but it was around 12 - 13 when I began. I can't recall if I had thoughts before that.
I think there are two reasons that many come out at that age:
1) It's the first opportunity we had to be alone in the house (before that age there is usually someone at home with you) and
2) Puberty! - nuff said!
