Hi everybody, my name is Sharon and I'm an EBay-aholic [deep breath].
It all started about six months ago when I thought that I could fill in a few gaps in my summer wardrobe. I bought shorts, t's, sandals, and it seemed as if I had everything under control [deeper breath..., a tear wells].
But I couldn't stop there. I bought skirts, dresses, bikinis, slacks, blouses, too many items to recall, too many to wear [mascara running down cheeks].
EBay has me on a direct mailing list for jewelry and every type of apparel that there is! They keep pushing and pushing and pushing, and no matter how much I try to resist, I continually succomb to my addiction [excuse me, I need to get a tissue].
I can't do this alone. I'm too weak. My mailman and trashmen hate me! PayPal practically owns the mortgage on my house.
I stand before you a defeated girl. I admit my weakness and I beseech each and every one of you to take heed and not allow yourselves to fall prey to this wicked disease. Run girls, lock your doors, set up a block to lock EBay and its like from entering your PC.
It's too late for me [sob], but go and learn from my weakness and vulnerability.
Love,
Sharon
Now where's the damn coffee and donuts?
Chop the paypal card up and block EBAY site from your PC. If this does not work get @unifin@ program from angelone site if its still running this program alone will filter anything that you want to be blocked.
It even filters your email.
Had unifin for over 6 years and have had no problems blocking sites, emails etc.

Just don't block this site - deal with one addiction at a time.

I too, am an eBay addict.
It started when I was a kid, secretly bidding up my mother's items.
As I grew up, I wore eBay t-shirts under my regular clothes.
I thought there was something wrong with me. I thought I was a freak.
I got married and hid my eBay habits from her...only bidding when she was out of the house.
Often I would be overcome with guilt...and purge. Throwing away eBay memo pads, eBay Sellers Handbooks...even an eBay beach towel.
But now, I feel I must tell her. I must be who I am.
As I write this, I'm holding an eBay pen that I got at eBay University. I'm wearing an eBay hat and T-shirt and I hope to buy eBay socks...but that scares me.
If she comes home I'll have to run up and pretend I'm in the shower, as I strip away my eBay clothes and hide them...yet again.
But until then...I can feel the pull...I have to bid. I have to...it's who I am.
But don't worry, Sharon, you are not alone.
Love
G

Thanks Ieya for your help, but I placed this post pretty much tongue in cheek. No wonder it's so difficult for me to be successful as a writer! No one knows when I'm being factitious!
I placed this today when I realized that I am waiting for ten(!) items from various sellers. But I promise you that it is under control(so far!). I have a strict dollar amount that I allow myself to spend on any item, and I never rebid. My thought is that no item offered is "one of a kind".
I really thought my tears and request for coffee and donuts would be a sign that I wasn't necessarily sincere in my cry for help, so I apologize to anyone who responded in that frame of mind. I'm touched though that you tried to help!
Love, Sharon

Sharon, when I saw this earlier I thought you were poking fun at the e-bay thread the other day, never thought you were serious. You did get some interesting responses though.
