Help -- musty clothing odors

Some of us is still in the closet, so some of us still hide our girlie clothes.
Some of mine is in a box in the garage. It got a musky smell. It is not damp in there.
Does anybody know how to remove the smell? Help Toni

Hi, i had the same problem, apart from they was shoved right to the bottom of 2 washing bins, all crumpled, smelly & basically unwearable
I Had to wash the lot of them, took a while.
Went and bought a few big sports bags, folded them neatly up and kept them in there, The zips were big enough to put pad locks on too.
Kept them clean, smelling nice, plus i could take them with me anywhere.

Wash them with oxy clean and regulaer detergent in mild to warm water. add a dryer sheet to the wash. Should take the smell out and help with bleeding.
if you can't wash at home use a laundrimat the tumble washers are bettter.

When we lived in WV our house had a finished basement. One day while getting something from the closet in the computer/ham radio room, I noticed the wallboard on one side was loose. I soon discovered that there was a space of 4' wide by 4' deep behind the wallboard. This space was between this closet and another closet in the next room. never figured out why they didn't just make the closet in each room bigger. Anyway it was perfect for my use. When the wife was out of the house for a while, I floored it, put 1/4" plywood on the walls and ceiling, wired a light and light swirch. Build a small shelf onto one wall for my makeup and a mirror above it. Made a small but nice storage and dressing room. I replaced the wall board with flush hinges and magnetic latches. When closed it looked like the normal wall.

Needless to say, the new owner was never told about this hidden room. LOL

girls this will help, now they are all undergarment. longline girdle, special one that I love. Here is the kicker. I don't know how to use these house hold washer. I know industries type. What setting and water temp?

I wash everything in cold myself.

If you are using a cardboard box I think that could cause the odor you are speaking of. Get some plastic storgage bins with a sealable top after you wash the things.

Use a clothing conditioner such as Comfort or Lenor (UK products but Im sure there will be US equivalents) which impart a nice perfume to the clothes and inhibit mould and mustiness. Also use those silica gel bags that electrical manufacturers pack in with equipment boxes to prevent dampness. Always ensure that any clothing is totally dry before stashing it away as mildew can easily grew on damp clothing and not only causes a bad smell but stains and actually eats into cotton etc.

No bleach It may mess up your colors and weaken the fabric.
Just wash in soap and water may take more then once and use dryer sheet
when you put them away (in a dry place.

Try spraying with fabreez Ithink it is called should get rid of the oders.

Check the label, that should tell you what temperature etc to wash at. Alot of underwear may say "hand wash only" particularly if it is delicate. You may be able to use the gentlest setting on the machine instead, but its a risk. If not just washem by hand in a sink with a bit of fabric deturgent.

In the uk you can buy underbed liners or storage bags that zip up and provide a seal to stop your wears getting damp, you can buy them in different sizes and shapes if you look!

what about spandex that is use in girdle, wil it lose it elastic?
