View Full Version : Which Child Are You In The Family?

Clare
05-26-2006, 06:22 AM
I was just reading another thread and a thought occurred to me. I am the oldest (and male obviously) child in my family. I have heard about medical surveys and the like that have tried to determine the 'ranking' of crossdressing children in families. As in whether a crossdresser is the first born child or the second male child, etc...

So where do you score in the poll?

Just a thought ... besides being 1st, 2nd, 3rd (etc) born, what about nature of siblings? Mostly male? Mostly female? All male? All female? How about spread of ages? There are lots of great *un-scientific* polls to create that might give us a better sense of why we do what we do. But I feel that just as there are so many stars in the night sky, there are so many reasons we CD.

Brought up by adopted parents as an only child.

Then traced my original family and found a younger brother and four sisters.

I have alway's somehow belived that three is some kind of lucky NO. At least to me it always has been.

But then yet again somehow wether it has anything to do with this NO. or not

I did at a very early age indentify with the female sex although in thoise day's of the 1950's one did not reveal such at least it was that way for me..
I had no sisters unfortuatly

But kind of always did feel that i was suppose to have been the one to have been a reall gg.

But somehow something went wrong and here i am stuck yet again in a male body which i am as of right now and for awhile am really hating.

I just do so want to be female once and for all!:.

I did hear of this survey. I believe your question is flawed, in that you ask where people rank in families. Surely an only child should have a answer. As they are not part of a group e.g. 2 or 3 children
This means at the moment they get attached to the eldest group.

I am the youngest. I have 2 older sisters. My half sister is 14 yrs older. My other sister is 5 yrs older. I did not see much of my oldest sister when I was young because she lived with her mother. My other sister lived at home with us until she went off to college. I'm not sure if any of that has any bearing on my dressing or not, but who knows.

I put the third born, since I have two older sisters. Yep the baby of the family and BTW men are pampered in my family. It seems that ONLY one boy is born in each generation. So ratio is about 3 girls to every boy born.

My middle sister hated me when we growing up because she got hand me down clothes and had to share big sister's bedroom, whereas I got new clothes and had a room to myself. We are now the best of friends and she even ended up marrying my best freind, she she hated almost as much as she hated me. LOL They have been married now for over 25 years.

50 % of all first borns are male, and 100 % of M2F are male :tongueout

The poll confirms that very well :p (within statistical error)

This question was a bit ambiquous. I voted second born male, as I am the second male in the family, but I was the third child of three, as there was a girl in the middle. Perhaps I ticked the wrong box.

This is a very interesting question, but the results will naturally be very badly skewed, as we all come from families with a first born, fewer come from a family with a second born, fewer still from a family of three, and so on down the line.

If it were possible to conduct such a poll that included a sample of all families, whether or not they included a crossdresser, then we could compare the percentage of crossdressers versus non crossdressers for each possible family situation, thereby seeing whether birth position and gender mix of families influence crossdressing tendencies.

Thanks for all the replies everyone.

My apologies to those who had no poll option for 'only child', but the 'first born child' selection would be a suitable alternative in this regard.

The poll results seem to reflect what I thought the origional research had come up with. Most crossdressers seem to be the first born child in the family! I wonder if the majority of FtM's are also the first born child in a family?

Ummm Claire? This actually shows the opposite - that 44% are first born, 56% are not :) and these numbers are not statistically significant anyway, as there are no overwhelming percentages for any choice....

Interesting -- there should have been a choice for "only child". I am the only child my parents had, and I was raised by my mother after my father split when I was about 5. My mother was accepting and supportive of my crossdressing from age 12 on up. It certainly helped that I was an only child, but my mother also had two miscarriages after I was born, so that may have fed her own desires to have a daughter, at least some of the time.

I'm the oldest male of three with one older sister. I credit her with jump starting my CDing as I was a bit of a Doll for her to play with. Often I would wear some of her clothing while we played. Strangely enough she is the only one of my siblings who doesn't know about Debbie.

I have two older sisters and two younger brothers. Makes me middle but for 9 yrs, I was the baby before my brothers came along. Same parents they just kind of had two families. Don't know what any of this means but I do remember that when my two older sisters reached puberty they were showered with many things, like bras, stockings, girdles (it was the 60's) ect. As I started to mature I was actually worried that I would grow breasts like they did and I would be some kind of freak. When I got there it was "here is another package of tighty whitey's" no big deal life went on. It was then that I started to check out my sisters things leading to dressing first time. Also I kind of suspect that my youngest brother may also cd but just don't have the guts to ask.

I am an only child as many here. I read reports on only children are more likely to crossdress because they have more time with thier mothers growing up. The want to be femme is greater because of more one on one time, rather than having the time split up with other siblings. Just something I read......

I am the oldest but I did have a sister who died at the age of only a few months old. I always wondered if I wore some of her baby clothes? They say that a child's first few months can be very definitive in how a child develops. Hmmm.

Ummm Claire? This actually shows the opposite - that 44% are first born, 56% are not :) Duh! I can be such a blonde at times!

I suppose what I was really saying is that the poll only addresses MtF (as in 2nd born male, etc). I was wondering about the result from a FtM perspective - 2nd born female for instance. I guess I didn't think through my question before writing it!

... and these numbers are not statistically significant anyway, as there are no overwhelming percentages for any choice. There's not? I think the 'First Born' responses are substantial! But you have to concede that this poll is not a scientifically perfect research tool either - just a generic 'what if' type thing.

I'm the eldest of four boys. However I don't think it makes a difference if you have older or younger brothers or sisters or if you're an only child. I think something happened during our creation that caused whatever level of transgenderism we are at along the vast spectrum. Our environment determines how far we go with it or in other words whether or not we keep it hidden.
