This is sort of related to Jen's post concerning middle names, but how did everyone come up with their Female names?

I named myself after the first GG I had a crush on way back iin the fourth grade. I wish I could tell her how much she meant to me.:)

I took my name from the movie Hope And Glory, which I adore! Jillian was a main character. Also, Jill is linked with my drab name. Can you guess what that is?

Deborah
05-26-2006, 04:54 PM
Deborah = What my mother would have named me had i come out correctly
Leanne = Girl i used to know when i was younger that i really liked
Raines = because it always rains in Washington and i don't want to use my "rare" last name.

I picked Tina when I was a teenager, it's close to my real name, just thought if I was a girl that would be it.

My last name I ran a poll here and had the girls pick it for me, check the link.

I still have thoughts and feelings for her but I have not been in contact with her since 1987. I use to live in West Bend,Wi and she lived in Slinger Wi.

KarenNY
05-26-2006, 08:26 PM
My mother actually gave it to me -- she told me that Karen Marie was the name she had selected for me if I had been born female. Mom was accepting and supportive of my dressing throughout my teen years, and would call me Karen when I was dressed en femme.
Sometimes I wish I had picked a different, more femme-sounding name (to me, anyway) like Melissa or Lisa, but Karen always seemed to fit me fine, and it's nothing like my male name...

gennee
05-26-2006, 08:37 PM
I created Gennee (pronounced 'Jenny') from the longer name of Genevieve. I have always loved this name and it's not a name you often hear.

I heard this great thing on TV the other day ... how to find your porn name. You use your first pet's name for your first name, and you use the name of the first street you lived on as your last name. My first pet was a dog named Ginger, and my street was Newcombe ... that makes me Ginger Newcombe. I love it!

OK ... if your first pet was a doberman named Max, you might have a problem. But it worked for me ...

I used to go by the name of my first girlfriend but several years ago my wife and I decided I needed a new name. We discussed several and settled on Danielle which is a variation of her name and when I order something mail order or use it if the wrong person sees it they will just think it was an error on the part of the one spelling it. I also use the same middle initial so our initials are the same.

Well, I'm still adjusting to the realization that I am TG and actually, before joining this board, it had never occurred to me to choose a femme name for myself. When I joined, I couldn't think of anything that really fit me, so out of frustration, I chose "Amber Dawn" which are the first and middle name of a girl I knew and greatly admired when I was growing up. I figured I would probably adjust to it after awhile, but I haven't really. I've recently begun trying to decide on a new name and from the list I've developed, my favorite so far is "Sarah". Maybe I'll change my screenname to some variation of that... I don't know yet.

In my copy of Shakespeare's [I]The Tempest[I], Ariel is described as, "an airy sprite". Yep that's me, says I. :D
With the clarity of hindsight, I probably should have added an 'a' to make it Ariela.

Sat down and came up with a bunch of names and wrote them all down years ago in a note book. Much the same way that Gene Roddenberry came up with names for his characters in Star Trek. I'm on my third name from the list. My name changes to reflect the growth of my feminine personality and as to what is the most appropriate for who I want to be at the time. It has a lot of meaning for me. Ericka

kay_ewinguk
05-27-2006, 11:29 AM
My name i created in 2 parts, Kay was simply just from the fact "K" was supposed to mean unknown, which is the answer normally to why do I need a Girls name!!! Plus I do like the cider of the same name, and if you read the small print on the bottle/can it explains more about the meaing of "K"

Secondly Ewing, is an attempt to work a Surname as an anagram of "enigma" One that is puzzling, ambiguous, or inexplicable. I struggled to come up with a suitable name so ended up dropping the "a", and with a bit of poetic license turned the "m" upside down, and into a "w", and created "Ewing"....

There.....Simple heh!!!!!!

It is the name that was on my birth certificate. I was supposed to be a girl. They spelled my name in school differently and I didn't know it was spelled wrong until I joined the navy and then my mother had to send all sorts of paperwork to the state to have it spelled correctly. I just use the way she spelled it initally.

Believe it or not I'm named after the Nun that was my 4th grade teacher. I was a real sissy and she took up for me. I had an amazing crush on her and she new it. She also sat next to me the first time I rode a roller-coaster. A few years later she gave up her vows and left the convent. When I was 17 I saw her by the pool at a friends house and she was a knockout. As you can see I still have a crush on her!

Aynthem
06-01-2006, 06:40 PM
Well.. I've chosen Ayn becasue its the name of my favorite writer.

I've been using the screen name Aynthem, which is a pun on my favorite book of her's Anthem, for years. I used it here as well. Eventually when I decided to give myself a femme name it was the perfect choice.

Jennaie
06-02-2006, 12:02 AM
It went something like this: I wanted to join the forum, It said enter your name, "the name you will be know as on the forums", I typed Jen, it said, sorry loser, that name is already taken, would you like to be Jen3955867, I typed Jennifer, it said, sorry that name is already taken, two time loser, would you like to be Jennifer44496968308503850385083508. I typed Jennaie, it said, " We have a winner!" your now Jennaie.

Then it said, " Please be advised Jennaie that your not allowed to enter the forums unless your wearing panties", I thought, I'm way ahead of you on that one. And Jennaie I am, I think.

My SO was nicknamed "Henry", and her sister was "George". For awhile they called me "Gueniviere", but it didn't last.

My real first and middle names have no femme versions, so I researched thousands of names, to try to find names that used most of the same letters, in similar order. I also took my ancestral lineage into account. "Bernice Noreen" was the end result.

Drucilla
06-02-2006, 08:37 AM
My name is based on a character in a book that I like very much.
The character, Drucilla Quinn, was a young, smart, strong woman.
She was described as tall, slim, short dark hair with amazing eyes and a face that could be on the cover of magazines. In the book she was constantly overcoming challenges to live her life as she wanted , not as others wanted her to. She was also incredibly sexy --in a demure way.
What more could a guy wish for as a role model for our feminine side ?

Bree Daniel was a call girl, played by Jane fonda, in the movie Klute. I loved the name but changed the spelling.

When I was growing up, I always liked Julie and Cathy as names. However when I accepted who I was, these names just did not suit me. I spent a lot of time wondering what would work. Sarah just kept comming back time and time again. I now wish I had chosen a middle name as well but it seems a little late now.

Although been a CD since age of 5, I never had a female name until I turned 40. This arose when I decided to join another CD/TV/TG forum on the net. My "surname" is derived from male first name and 'Kattie' just came to me there and then. I don't know why, but its feels right for me. We are very lucky, unlike GGs, we can choose our own name. Incidentally, the rather unusual double "T" in the spelling of my first name is because that name/surname combination was already taken as a Yahoo email address.

Actually, I don't particularly like my femme name. I chose it because it has the same first letter as my male name. I've stuck with it, but have never really been comfortable with it. Oh, well. No point in changing it now.

~Dee~
06-04-2006, 11:39 AM
i cheated.
i didnt actually change my name or choose another.
i kept my male name, but when we started going to support groups a while ago, i thought it was an idea to use a different name just in case..
so, my first initial is D .. my mother used to call me DeeDee when i was younger .. and my friends are slack and most of them just call me D... so, Dee it was.

but i still go by my usual name.
its funny really, i used to hate it ... now .. it seems just so much more fitting .. i dont think i could go by another name .. it would seem so wrong.
though, i dont mind people calling me D ... cause i know its still part of my name.

Don't want to hi-jack here..

But why is it too late for any of you to add a middle name or change a femme name that you're unhappy with?

People do it all the time.

I wouldn't encourage anyone to change it like their underwear.. sorry.. panties.. :D But why not please yourself in such a simple way?

If this is a hi-jack.. please delete..

Paula G
06-04-2006, 03:15 PM
My name is just a feminine form of the male name usually associated with my given name. The "G" is for Graham, which sounds like a good last name to go with Paula (not my real last name).

I recently asked my parents what I would have been named if I were born a girl, and was told it would have been either Rachel or Deborah. Maybe I'll add one of those names as a middle name in the future.

First Name: Kate because I always liked the name Kate, I don't know why

Surname: Longman because I didn't want to use my real surname and Longman has a ring to it especially when you combine it with Kate.

And hence Kate Longman was created.

I was trying to come up with a feminine name for me. I tried the name (Jennifer Renee) I would have given to my daughter, if I had been lucky enough to have had a girl, but it didn't quite work. I went through a lot of names, and one day I said Helen, and it felt so good, so comfortable. I never tried another name.

It seems that Aynthem (post #45 in this thread) and I have the same favorite author.

Dagny was the heroine in the novel, "Atlas Shrugged". A decisive, no B/S type of gal that I admired greatly.

Yup, I'll admit it, I stole her name!

ranma 1/2
08-26-2006, 08:23 PM
I got my name from a cartoon character.

Ranma 1/2 is manga character who fell into a cursed spring while training in china. the spring he fell into was called "Spring of the drowned girl".

Now when ever Ranma Saotome is splashed with cold water he is transformed into a girl version of himself.

The Meaning Behind the Name

Ranma can mean "chaotic or reckless horse" which emphasizes his brash personality. Saotome means "fast/quick maiden/virgin" which is a reference to his transformation into his female side.

Sasha Anne Meadows
09-07-2006, 01:18 PM
Hi Girls!

I know this was a topic of discussion before, but I have been giving it some addtional thought lately, expecially after receiving a few compliments on my name from participants in this forum.

Our boy names are given to us at birth, even sometimes before, and we spend our entire lives matching our persona with this name. On the other hand, our t girl names are something that eveoles to meet our femals persona after it emerges. In a sense, our t girl names create a better identity for us because they are chosen to reflect who we are.

I chose the name Sasha because the first time I saw myself in the mirror, fully enfemme, the person looking back out at me was Sasha. I didn't know anyone else by that name but the name struck me immediately and I have felt confortable with it ever since. I added my middle name, Anne, to emphasize my female state, since Sasha can also be a male name. My last name, Meadows, was easy. It is the English translation of a foreign name that sound much more harsh.

So that's my story. How about other girls out there?

Back in grade school I had a crush on girl who's name was jessica. Then again in junior highschool, there was another girl I liked. Then In highschool. And now in college. Unfortunately, they were (and are) all taken :(

But anyway, I also like the sound of the name, so thats how I came up with it.

This is an interesting question. It seems to me that the name Jennifer has always been in my head. It's a good correlation to my male name but I couldn’t tell you where it came from. Since I'm always in some kind of minor trouble, in my head I hear the name Missy much more often.

I thought the man who remembered his daughter after her death by carrying on her name was quite profound. That is a true nod to the power of parents to see their children into the future at all costs.

Honey Lynn
09-08-2006, 12:00 AM
Well originally I always referred to myself as Rhonda Lynn but when I waded into the shallow end of the forums pool there were a few Rhonda's floating and bobbing about. Not wanting to add any confusion I thought and puzzled and puzzed, had a few donuts, and came up with Honey Lynn, but I got the cutest little nickname of Honey Bunny beacuse for my avatar I had created this totally cool pic with my face plastered onto a Playboy Bunny's body, which turned out to be like totally the wrong thing to do because a lot of people thought that was my real body, as if, I wish, not even on a good day!!!! In all reality I look more like Bill Murray in drag, and not the younger version of him either. Okay Honey's getting really boring by now, so I'll go for now.

P.S. This is my first post in like totally months:sad:

I needed a name when joining here and it was the first thing to pop into my head. It’s from the movie “Cabaret” for the way the character dressed, not her behavior. The original Goth Glam Girl a la ‘30’s style.

I never felt the need for a feminine avatar. My given name can be used androgynously and it is something I do love…

Robin & Leigh are my middle names. I often used Robyn as my femme name in the past, but I mostly just use the feminine form of my first name these days. I find that makes things a bit easier for my friends when they visit while I'm dressed, since I do prefer to be addressed with a femme name when en femme. If someone accidently starts to say my first name in masculine style, they can convert it to the feminine form on the second syllable. :)

Robin.

Daphnie is one of my favorite and most frequently used characters in my little Desktop Tales photo stories (plus, I've always liked the name).

She's the one in the green tunic.

And, I'm rather fond of Disney's ducks (especially Daisy), hence, the name Daphnie-Duck, or shortened, Ducky.

quack! :heehee:
