I just ordered a pair of "Improper Pumps" from Payless. Now I've heard some strange names for womens shoes but this one takes the proverbial cake. From what I can see they're just your basic black 2.5" heel pointy toed pumps, nothing overtly improper about them so I'm anxiously awating they're arrival to see just what these little puppies do that's sooooo improper.:idontknow:

Oh Oh, they have 50,000 Gauss Samarium Cobalt magnets in the sides, so that it is physically impossible for you to keep your legs together!:D:

No?

Oh yeah, now I remember, that model had the upskirt CCD video camera transmitting fast-scan on 432Mhz?

No?

I'm getting to old for all this high tech -obviously!

Maybe the "improper" part merely refers to a podiatrists' recommendation of no heel over 1 inch? :hugs:

Honey Lynn - I'm surprised that more people haven't responded to this post. I was curious about it when you first put it up, but forgot about it and couldn't relocate it. Then, a couple of days ago, I was browsing at Payless and...voila! There in the space on the shoebox where they put the style name was IMPROPER! They describe it on their website as a 2.5" heel, but it seems to be more like 4" (maybe I'm measuring in the wrong place). Anyhow, I looked at them and had to have them. Despite the urge, I abided by my rule to think it over for a day (otherwise I'd be broke). The next day I went back and bought them in my size (12 women's). I tried them on as soon as I got home - they are HOT and fit perfectly! I don't know what's Improper about them, but I'm glad that you brought them to my attention. Black, pointy-toed, 4" stilettos to die for!
Talon:happy:

P.S. - How do you like yours?

Ahhhhhh......shooooooes.

Pumps and high heels are two different things. A shoe can be a high heel with out being a pump and vice versa That style of shoe is called a pump, in the UK they call them "courts" (giggles) But pumps themselves can be divided in to subtypes.

This is a kitten heeled pump, though somtimes this is referred to as a sabrina heel:

This is a mary jane pump with a mid to high louis heel: A louis heel has a shape like this " ) ( " when viewed from the rear. It can be slender or thick, high or low.

This is the shoe that inspired the previous one, it's the famous Manolo Blahnik Campari Mary Jane. They often go for full retail price on eBay because they are so desired

This is a stiletto heeled "D'Orsay" pump which means the inside of the shoe is more open. They have red soles, which means what, class? That's right, it means they're Christian Louboutin's. They're the Helmut style, named after fashion photographer Helmut Newton.

These are are also Christian Louboutins, the Pigalle style, the special edition with the 125 mm heel. (The heels of couture shoes are often measured in millimeters.) Supremely chic, beautiful and utterly impractical. Wearable art. Even on eBay they're $1000 dollar shoes. There is a similar famous style named Clichy which has a more rounded toe.

I'm not into those skinny heels too much, but I have to say those "Improper" pumps are hot! Hell, I may have to get a pair of those. I can see myself in those for sure.

Yeah I've found over the passing months that most of my posts, few as they were went mostly unoticed. I usually delete them after a week or two, I'm really quite a boring person actually. Yes the pumps are absolutly great and do seem to be much higher than they stated. I got mine in 12w and they fit perfectly and really kicked my butt in the air all sexy like, well as sexy as a 300 pound cross dresser can get. Still can't figure out what's so improper about them, they play well with my other heels, don't eat much, and hardly ever pass gas, they are a bit chatty though. Unfortunately thanks to a knee injury and the lack of medical coverage I fear I'll never be able to wear my heels ever again, improper or not, but they were nice to wear while I could.

Ugh. The health care crisis rears it's ugly head even here in the closet:sad: Love your description of how your heels behave! lol Keep on posting!

To Veronica - Thanks for your lesson on pumps.

Kristen - The pair that I bought are size 12(women's). Do you mean that you wear a size 11(men's)? - in which case you'd need a size 13(women's). If your local store doesn't stock your size, you can ask them to get you a pair in your size or order online. Hope this helps.

First why would I want to wear a mens size 11, I am lucky enough to wear a woman's 11. I had looked online with the link you provided and all that was listed was up to woman's size 10.:heehee:

With toes that pointed, I'd say what they would do to my poor toes would be HIGHLY improper!

I think most likely, Payless is trying a "PC" name for the old FM shoes. :D Best viewed while heels are pointed skyward!

I think GG Vanya has it pretty well defined! I have always used the expression FMP's however.

Good one Vanya. You paint a great picture with words!

ps: If anyone is interested in size 12 pink FMP's check my note in the classified.

They don't have to be pointed, in fact there's plenty that aren't. but the classic " fashionista power stiletto" usually is, and that's what that payless shoe is.

Pointy shoes are..."special" ignore the round toe mafia when they show up every 5 years or so. ;-)

There's an explanation of this phenomenon in the book "The Fashionista Files" by Melissa de la Cruz and Karen Robinovitz

That's why fans of extremely pointy shoes often buy them in slightly larger sizes than their other shoes.

Kristen - Sorry about that. I just assumed that if I had found them on the shelf at my local store, so would you. I also figured that companies typically have more sizes and colors available online than they stock in their stores. I'm really surprised and puzzled that they only go up to size 10 online. Maybe my pair was some sort of mistake and I just got lucky. There are 3 Payless stores within 3 miles of me so I'll check out the others.
