View Full Version : My community's awareness higher than I thought

I live in a large town in Maine. At a recent information night related to a new Town facility they discussed a proposed floorplan for the project. It was pointed out that there was a unisex bathroom. They explained they included it for handicapped access, for caregivers with young children and for use by "people with gender identity issues". I didn't realize that there was enough awareness in my community to include that as a reason. I was surprised to hear it but its nice to think that people are becoming familiar with these issues. Who knows what the future will bring?

Glad to hear it may be catching on in all areas. I'm all male but always glad to hear things of this nature. You need respect too!

In my college philosophy we talked of the donkey that starved to death between two equidistant haystacks, not being able to choose one over the other. How about the crossdresser who wet her panties standing in front of three bathroom doors?

That's why I have no qualms about using a guy's restroom while en femme. You gotta go, you gotta go. Of course, I take the obligatory 3-5 minutes vs the 90 second "stand up" time. Always wondered what took women so long in there, now I know(takes at least 2 minutes to find my lipstick). LOL Ericka

Who knows what the future will bring?
Katy,
Apparently the furure will bring more to Maine than to Vermont. Our governor recently vetoed the "Gender Identity and Expression Non-Discrimination Act". One supporter of his action said
"We don't want to see discrimination pervasive in Vermont, but the language was troubling. Gender identity is too broad a term. It would cover cross-dressers and transvestites and others,". "We don't feel cross-dressing is something that needs to be addressed by the law."
So there. Maybe all of us VT cross-dressers/transvestites/others will have to move to Maine - all three of us.

I think that's great, but you said it's the floor plan. it will probly be the first thing cut out of the buget when thay start crunching the numbers. oh well it's the thought that counts.

Hmmmm? Now what was that old addage? Oh yes, "As Maine goes, so goes the nation". We can but hope.
