Hi,

Can anyone help me size correctly for a Mini Skirt? I am at least a size 18+ (UK Size that is!), but I normally wear only lingerie. I have started to increase my range of Crossdressing to include non-underwear items. Finding Mini Skirts in sizes 18+ is difficult anyway, but I may be larger than that. I have found some stores that sell PVC Mini skirts up to size 26! How should I measure myself? Hips? Under the tummy? Including the tummy? I wear size 18 panties, but these are always elasticated!

Can someone help please?

Thank you.

Lane Bryant stores would love to help you. My experiance with them is they enjoy our shopping there and they love our money.

Do those stores have web sites? If so, go to them and check out their sizing charts. Some minis sit low to the waist, while others sit higher towards the waist itself. Either way, you will need to measure yourself where you think the skirt will cinch you. PVC is pretty unforgiving, so you will need to take your time and measure correctly.

Have fun.

Some mini skirts now sit on the hips so the waist size isn't actually the waist. If it is on-line buying I suggest sending an email asking the actual waist size of the garment laid flat.

This may sound like you are asking an odd question, but women know waist sizes are all over the place when it comes to the supposed garment size so it is a sensible question.

Thanks for the advice.

One thing that puzzles me! I have a waist of approximately 37-38", but I am able to wear size 18 (UK Size) panties, and have tried size 18 skirts before. Although elasticated these items almost seem a little loose on me, I thought that a size 18 equated to roughly a size 33" waist? So why am I able to wear a size 18 when I should be looking at larger sizes? Is this something to do with a GG's hip size?

Skirt sizes are notoriously unreliable.
The best way of course is to try before
you buy.
If you don't want to try on get a piece
of rope or twine whose length is your
waist measurement, you can then
double it in half and hold it against the
waistband of the skirt your thinking of
buying.

Women have a very different shape to us men in the midrift. (what with one pair of ribs less and wider hips etc)

Waist size doesn't come into the equation for knickers. The waist size is taken above the belly button. Hip size is more appropriate and for size 18, hips are 43 1/2 inches. I'm propbably the same size waist as you and I comfortably wear size 12 or 14 underwear. A size 14 mini skirt would fit, but for a little extra length size 16 would be better.

Thanks Laura.

But most skirts seem to be shaped to fit a female waist above the belly button, with a zip or fastener, my natural waist is about an inch below my belly button! How does this work for a male wearer, because the top of the skirt will therefore be narrower and not fit the male waist so easily, but the hip size would be perfect?

I find that skirts with elastic waist bands overcome some of the sizing issues. By the way, it's not a proper mini skirt if, when you sit down, you sit on any part of the skirt.

Thanks Deanna.

I always try and go for items with elasticated waistbands if I can, but find that most mini skirts online seem to be PVC wear, which I still like, but they don't have any give in them.

The following item (H1002) http://www.fetishwear-uk.co.uk/acatalog/PVC_For_Larger_Ladies.html in a Size 18 is roughly a 33" waist, but 43" Hips - according to the company size chart, is this correct? I wear a size 18 in panties, but would I therefore require a size 24ish to fit me around the waist (37")? this seems ridiculous! or as Laura suggested, maybe I should go by hip size and wear items that are designed to be worn on the hips? If so, is the skirt in the link I provided, such an item?

Thank you.

Here is my best experience.

If jeans/slacks are a normal size 12 for mid or regular rise then add 1 full size for hip or low rise.

Of course, the alternative is........... THE FITTING ROOM!!!! (Still the best alternative.)

Hope this can be of some help.

Kimberley.
