Hey girlies, the post about what you want to wear at your own funeral got me wondering......
After you all follow that light down that tunnel, when you meet St. Peter, or Allah, or whoever......do you believe....that they'll be complimenting:
A: your lovely cocktail dress and gloves.

or:

B: Your fancy three-piece and Oxfords.

In heaven, will your dreams come true. Will you resume an existence in your happiest state of being?

Post girlies, post!

Immediately dump me in the fire crackle crackle, then put the sweepings at the curb for the trash. I'm sure the family will have other idea's such a waste of money.

There is a company that will take your ashes and put them into a slot on a Satellite and then will launch it into orbit. After about a month in orbit, it will decay and burn up.

Too much physics has taught me that whatever lies out there, beyond our senses, beyond our imagination, beyond our ability to comprehend, it ain't Peter, Allah, or Jehovah.

Why is everyone so obsessed with the after life? What is wrong with this life? Is this not gift enough? Everyone feels shortchanged by g*d and demands an eternity of perfection in exchange for having lived 50 or so years in a life that didn't go exactly how you wanted it to go all the time?

Oh, you'll just collapse inward sort of, fall through your center and emerge back where you came from. Leave this vehicle of your perceptions behind and rest easy, another awaits after a break.:meditate:

Judging by the scarce knowledge and tolerance shown by most religions, the bearded guys would likely greet me with a "Oh, no, another fag!!!"

Unless I have a sudden change of mind, which has happened before and might happen again, I will depart this life in male mode. No need to make what will no doubt be a traumatic experience for my only child even more traumatic, as I believe it would be if I used it as an excuse to come out.

Male and female are constructs for an Earthly existence. There is no need for male and female in Heaven, thus we formerly human beings will all be the same, and similar, but different from God and the Angels.

Since there's no male nor female, the clothes and presentation won't matter What will matter is the presentation of yourself and how you lived your life.

Warm regards,
Christina Nicole

Why is everyone so obsessed with the after life?

Well for one thing, Unless you have found the secret for immortality, thats where we're headed..

If you find yourself alone, riding in green fields, with the sun on your face. Do not be troubled, for you are in Alysium … And you are already dead. What we do in life echoes in eternity.

I honestly do not know what if anything will happen to one's persona after the death of the physical body.

I don't think its where we are headed. I think wherever we are supposed to be, we are there right now. This is it. We are stardust, and unto dust we shall return.

I hate to think that perhaps time is fluid - as is suggested in physics, and that time, like energy can neither be created or destroyed. So, like Groundhog Day, everything repeats into infinity. How bad would that be for most people? All eternity spent hiding panties and bras, living in fear, secrecy, and shame? Or just happily wearing them? Thanks, I will take the second choice.

I used to get in trouble in my past life for giving out an essay question the first few weeks of school. I told them they didn't know enough yet to write anything worth reading, but writing helps you think, so lets just start there. I promised an A to anyone who got the answer right. Three Deans called me into their office about it, and they too, like 99.999% of my students failed the test. There was, in over a decade, only one person who gave me the correct answer. The question as I learned it in catholic school was based on religion, but I asked it in the secular form - being at a public university and all. Here goes. (I will post the A answer later under the heading "ANSWER".

The Secular Humanist Question:

WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU THOUGH IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO FAIL?

The religious type question:

WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU KNEW G*D WAS COMING BACK RIGHT NOW?

Either way, the only acceptable answer is the same.

Ok, here it goes. I would do nothing differently. I try to make the absolute best choices for myself everyday, and though I often end up making the wrong choices, I still am confident that at the time it is the best one. Why would I change anything? Live life to its fullest and you will have no regrets.

Did not realize that there was a name for this kind of stuff
I have formed the opinion that this is so already from something i read about it sometime ago.

Since all life does begin as female that is what you will become upon dying from which ever body you are in presently those who are female will remain so those of us who are male will revert to female that's the way it really is in truth.

Then some of us will come back in what does seem a very short time as the other sex that we are really suppose to be unless you have reached a very high level of exsistence then ypu can choose.

Sometimes mistakes do happen heaven is not absoultly perfect either and some who are suppose to be female return as male and those are the ones who are confused in those lifetimes wnating to be the other sex.

Also one returns reverts to the age one is happiest at in that case i want to be five years old again for a very long time that was the happiest of times for me.

most after that was confusing.

Oh well

Way to go girl, you rock! A pink star. The ONLY answer - as far as I'm concerned is "I'd keep right on doing what I'm doing right now." Any other answer would only make me think you were wasting time.

Edison went through over 2,000 trials at finding the right filament for his light bulb - he never regarded them as failures, only as finding things that DID NOT work. So to with us - failure is never an option unless you take it as such.

Nothing. That was my first thought anyway.
Kew

And how did this become a thread on the discussion of existentialism? I thought it was about what one wanted to wear at their funeral?
Kew

And, I now see you've posted the answer. I didn't read it.

Well let me firstly say that I'm an agnostic:happy:

If there is anything at all after one passes on, concieivably one would exist only as pure energy, so presumeably forget about clothes, shapes and anything similar to what we take for granted from our normal existance...
As to who else you will find there, I would presume it would contain any and all prior higher forms of cognisant life...

I bet it would be crouded... so I would definately want to come back for another try to see if I can get it right the next time here...

Cheers
