There are several addresses on the web that sell wigs and have very discrete shipping systems. A google search will give you more addresses than you want...

However, it is well worth going to a shop to try your wig before you buy it. May be I was unlucky but the two first ones I bought via internet turned out not to suit my face at all...

I finaly bought one that suited me in a shop. Of course, for several personnal reasons, I went to a shop in a town far away from my home town.

These shops are well aware of the X-dressing situation. They tend to be very understanding and you will be well received. In addition, the sales attendent will certainly be providing you with valuable advice on the type of wig that will suit your face and style.

Other advantage of going to a shop, you can pay in cash and that is also a more discrete method... A few sisters who have not come out to their SOs have been caught via the credit card monthly reporting...

Call her, talk to her, send her a pic of yourself. She is very helpful. If you tell her your fem name you won't hear your male name again from her. She loves girl talk and she works only with transformation.
You will love her, I promise.

The above is a link to her TG site. It offers the same wigs but is geared for the transgendered.

Just get your phone book, find who sells wigs in your area, in a different town if need be and ask them if it is ok to stop by, explaining that you are a crossdresser. If possible go dressed or get made up while there. I found a place that sells high quality wigs for a very reasonable price. They are very CD friendly.

I went to a small shop in Elmira, NY called Annies. Annie, the owner was great. I called her and explained what I was doing. At first she thought I was joking because I sounded like a freind of hers. I went to her shop and waited until the other customers left (her shop caters to the afro-american hair). We talked for a few as she showed me the wigs. She also told me about a few places to go in Elmira to have fun as Carroll. The wigs where inexpensive at about $24-$40. The one I got was a blondish color wig like the one here: http://store.wowwigs.com/fashionnote.html
and this is what it looks like on me:

You probably got one of the hired hands who has no vested interest in if they ever sell anything at all.

Hey Sue Ellan. Give us a bit of a clue about where you live. We may be able to recommend a place where you can actually go to in person.

Pretty much any wig vender will be discrete, since the majority of their customers are women who'd be horrified if anyone found out they're wearing a wig.

As far as onlines places to purchase, I'm partial to Wig Salon (http://www.wigsalon.com) and Wilshire Wigs (www.wilshirewigs.com).

For hip padding, Glamour Boutique's "Sweet Cheeks" (http://www.glamourboutique.com/Cart/glamourboutique/shopping.cgi?page=bodyshape.html&category=yes&cart_id=2947019_28776) is a good alternative to the Veronica. The pads wrap around the butt, so it doesn't have the "bumpy" look that 4-pad types do. If you want a little more width in the hips, also order the "Hip or Fanny Pads" and you can stuff them into the "Sweet Cheeks."

Ive been considering getting a wig from Transformation, but I cant help thinking (from experience) that they do ask a lot of ££s. Maybe Im an old cynic.
