Hi Girls. Now that summer is here, I've already got the great tan on my upper body. The legs however, even Snow White would get a chuckle. I always wear pantyhose for the look. Since my time to dress is limited I don't want to waste it sitting around in drab, trying to tan the legs. I'm able to sit out on my deck dressed en femme & still maintain privacy/secret/closeted. If wearing pantyhose & short shorts will I be able to tan? Does the hose block the affect of the sun? Thanks for your help!

Hugs All Around,
Michelle

Why don't you go to the drug store and get some instant tanning lotion, the stuff really works fast looks good and you don't have to sit in the sun all day to get a natural tan. Have fun and enjoy.

Yes, I'd say that hose does block some UVa and b rays....I use a bronzing gel... especially where i have a tan line and want to blend it in with nontanned areas...

I've tried 2 different tanners,Coppertone & Nuetragena Build aTan, emptied both bottles with no noticeable tan. Any care to recommend one they tried?

McLegs, I have at times worn pantyhose to see if there was a difference. The only plave I noted any difference was at the seam and the waist band. I would assume they block the sun a little, but I didn’t notice any tone difference. I was wearing the ‘suntan’ shade hose when I tried this, with a few different brands.

Veronica… Most of us laugh at the artificial tanning stuff. I have never seen one that maintains a natural color!

Karren mentions a bronzing gel, however, they should be used all over just like a tanning lotion since they produce a different tint. Now I think the following is right, but I may be off a little on what I’m about to say… There are two types of bronzers too. One type is just the artificial color, making a orange tinted tan. A good bronzer activates a different color in the skins pigment. It activates the carotenes rather than the melanins, or both. While the melanins are the tan color we see in regular tans, the bronzer uses carotenoids or activates the carotens which are a yellowish color. People with the gold tinted tans use the bronzers as the natural tanning and the yellow pigments are both present. I, myself, find the artificial tanning lotions, or sprays, unattractive. I think the orange tint is awful!.

I use regular tanning lotions all over. I also use a L-Tyrosine amino acid supplement as it is food for activating the melanin, which cases the tanning pigmentation. All the tanning places I have seen sell these, but I find them cheaper at stores that carry suppliments.

The best tanning lotion I have tried is the Diamond Strength Ultra Dark (http://www.hosssauce.com/sun_sauce_tanning_lotion.html)
http://www.hosssauce.com/pics/lotions/ss_diamond_ultra_dark.gif
by Hoss Sauce (http://www.hosssauce.com/). I have tried several and I found the Sun Sauce line to not only give a great tan, but reduce the lines on my aging face.

Now if you like a ‘tingle’ the hottest tingle I tried is a Hoss product also. It is the Outlaw 6XXX (http://www.hosssauce.com/outlawproducts.html)

Now be careful with tingles if you try one. Try a low tingle and work up. They open the capillaries, make the skin hot and red colored for a few hours. They do this to increase the blood flow to the skin to feed the tanning process faster. Some people freak out from how hot they feel, and different people have different tolerances.
