More of us out there than you think. Hiding in "plain sight". I don't have a "Cerebro" machine like Professor X but I can sense them for sure. Ericka

The reason there is so much hostility toward cd's is because so many men have certainly secretly wondered, wished for, what it would feel like to dress like a girl. Most of them don't dwell on it or act on it but I would tend to beleive that the feeling is almost universal. The reason there is less hostility toward gays is that homosexual feelings are less universal.

I seem to recall reading once in Women's Wear Daily (THE publication for the fashion industry, a.k.a., the rag trade) that about 25% of women's panties were sold to men for thier own use, so perhaps the figure is right.
The article did not distinguish between crossdressing and those who would like to try it sort of - just to see what it feels like. Could be like that skydiving deal I did once. Thought it would be interesting, but jumping out of a perfectly good airplane once pretty much ended my curosity about the subject.
Perhaps there are just a lot of men who are bored with that black suite, white shirt, rep tie deal.
Or, in nature its the male that tends to be the colorfull one, we might have just surpresssed that over time.
I still think the number of TG Cds & TSs is somewhere around 1-2%, but not higher than 10%. That gives us a figure of somewhere around 1.5 million to 15 million in the USA. (do your own figures for your population, take the %, and half it.) So unique we are not.

At first view, these survey results don't seem that surprising for several reasons:
1/The question was apparently about "dressing like a woman" but just for one day. That's not exactly a desire to X-dress to any extent of time, even occasionaly.
2/ There is a great difference between saying that one would like to do it and actually doing it...
3/ The way the question was asked seemed to make it a positive experience. That may have influenced the responses.
All in all, having the precise text of the questions and kknowing the exact condition of the sampling would help us understand the results... But that's rarely made available in survey results presentations...

Yeah,
I went and voted.
By the way, for the benefit of US girls...those CD-ers in the Edwardian costumes on that web page are David Walliams and Matt Lucas who wrote and performed in the Little Britain comedy series.
One of their acts lampoons us girls, but they are done so well, are so funny, and have no malice. You just have to laugh. It turns out that Walliams is out as a crossdresser in real life, which probably explains why their CD sketches are so perceptive and accurately portray some of the mistakes that some of us make, such as inappropriate dressing for the shopping mall and over exaggerated femme posing. Walliams might even visit this forum for all I know. Almost everybody in the UK now knows the Little Britain catchphrase "We are two ladies, you know" said loudly in a falsetto voice, of course
Walliams, BTW, has just swum from England to France and the time was in the top 50 of those who have attempted this 21 mile swim. Here's more about Walliams and the swim:

I saw a poll a few years ago that said up to 70% of men would Like to become a woman for a WEEK---PROVIDED 1.) The change were REAL AND 2.) They would CHANGE BACK after it was over.
Curiosity is a BIG thing with us guys. I Dare say that 25% of us have dressed as a female more than once---and even ocasionally, if only in private---and better than 90% have dressed up at least ONCE for any reason.----Some of us, however, find that CDing fulfills a need or supplies a "rush" that encourages us to dress repeatedly---Thus we become "Crossdressers".

I wonder who was asking the questions as well? Was it some big bloke from down the pub called "Dave" or some such thing or, more likely, was it the pert, 20-something girl in the tight Coca-Cola t-shirt? I bet you'd get different answers in both cases :D
