Although my online name is DayTripper, I often answer to Stephanie. It's an appropriation, the name of this marvelous woman I knew when I lived in Florida. She was the first person I ever told, we had a brief romance before real life concerns intervened. She was a skinny hippie chick, didn't need a bra at all, superlong hair - the toughest, sexiest female I ever met. So, a tribute if you will.

Mine is a tribute too. Respecting that wonderful loveing woman who was my day care provider between ages 2 and 5. I miss Annie very much.

I use Darlene,a character in cartoons that used to be in Cosmopolitan Magazine. Rochelle is my mother's middle name. I have been an avid Cosmo reader for 30 yrs.

Carroll
07-05-2006, 08:51 PM
Actaully, I didnt even come up with Carroll. I was dressed ans was trying to come up with a name. Like a lot of girls I first thought of a variation of my real name, Chris. Every name I came up with, my wife said no. She looked at me and said "your are a Carroll" and that was that. As for the last name I use in my articles, Acahti, well that took a bit to come up with. Ithaca spelled backwards:happy:

Olivia
07-05-2006, 10:17 PM
I chose Olivia for a couple reasons. There is a lady in my hometown named Olivia and she was always so pretty and well-groomed; actually, she still is. She was very elegant (not that I am in the least, lol) and I actually dated her daughter for a while, so I was around her a bit. I admired her and her name. The other reason is I am a fan of Pauline Reage's classic novel, "The Story of O". I loved the book and liked how the heroine only used "O" for a name. I also thought I could shorten it a bit to just "Livia" or even "Liv", but I never do. That's one of the coolest things about cding to me. We have a chance to remake ourselves and choose our own name as well! Olivia

Wanda was taken, as was Vanya, whichwas the way my Economics 101 prof (from India) pronounced Wayne. There were three Waynes in that section. Our other cousin, Polly, Polly Darton, just shows up at the most inappropriate times, flashing her long blonde hair, and her big boobs, and mushing that fake Southern charm on everyone. Just makes us embarassed to even be related. :o :o

Sissy_in_pink

I use Sissy in pink because my favourite colour is pink and sissy because I love to be a real sissy.

07-06-2006, 02:32 AM
I chose Jessica for just the opposite reason: I didn't know a Jessica (and I guess I can't stand competition!). Hyde is the old cliched Dr. Jeckyll and...Ms. Hyde???

fionasboots
07-06-2006, 02:34 AM
The Dreamworks film Shrek has the character Princess Fiona which I used once as an IM ID before I got into the CDing (obviously had that secret desire to be a girl even then).

Liked Fiona as a fairly normal girls name so it stuck, dropped the "princess" bit and, for the ID, added "boots" for fairly obvious reasons.

The full girlie name I go by involves a translation of my real surname as well - one of those really obvious things that you secretly hope people will figure out so you can be completely out :heehee:

Lisa Golightly
07-06-2006, 02:49 AM
Lisa would have been my female birth name... Lisa Maria to be exact.

Golightly comes from Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's. Was always a big fan and I identified with Holly's fun packed emptiness... It was kind of like my own life in my roaring twenties :)

My wife and I sat down one night to pick a name for an e-mail account I could use when ordering things off line. We came up with a lot of names, Amanda, Kelly, Renee... but I kept coming back to Julia. Finally, she said, 'I think you want to be called Julie,' and after thinking about it, I agreed. So: Julia Renee it is.

ReginaK

It's related to a name I use for my music. Since it's a royalty based name, I wanted a name associated with royalty. I wanted to be named Victoria, but a friend of mine talked me out of it. She suggested Antoinette, but I really hated that name. Too French for my tastes. So we settled on Regina, which was a latin word that literally translates to "queen". Coincidently, Queen Victoria was also known as Victoria Regina, so I still get to be called Victoria when I want to be.

Elena Ambasce
07-06-2006, 03:35 AM
My name is me poking a bit of fun at the evils of my actions:

hell in a handbasket
-> ell ina ambaske (psuedo Cockney accent)
-> Elena Ambasce (ignore the fact that the "sc" is a "sh" sound in the proper pronunciation)

What's double fun is that the Italian "ambasce" means "anguishes"... Rare (and fortunate) is the girl whose transgender desires haven't brought her some measure of anguish...

jesse
07-06-2006, 03:39 AM
I chose jessica/jesse because it's nicer than joanie, like i was called when i was younger by my mom!

I took my name from one of my favorite cousins. My siblings , in order are, older brother, older sis, me and younger brother. My cousins are just the opposite, older sis, older brother, her, and younger sis. All us kids are close in ages, so Terri and I felt sort of overlooked being the middle kids, so we were pretty close growing up. I just felt it was natural to kinda borrow her name, I dont think she would mind at all.

I chose my name as that's what my mum and dad were going to call me if I'd been born a girl. I use my own last name. Nothing more than that to it although I like the name Caroline. It suggests sweetness! lol

Sharon_Rose
07-06-2006, 10:31 AM
My mother used to tell me [when I was a small child] that the doctor had told my dad and her that I would be a girl. She picked the name Sharon Rose. Surprise...I wasn't a girl outside but I was one inside. I have gone through a couple of other names but I eventually went home.

carol anne
07-06-2006, 11:18 AM
 Choosing a name was fairly simple for me. I wanted something very feminine which also had significance to me. So I borrowed the names of the two most signifiacant women in my life; Carol for a woman whose life was cut short in terrible plane crash and Anne for the woman I married who also had her life shortened accidently. Every time I dress I can think of them and silently say a silent thank you for being in my life

Siobhan Marie
07-06-2006, 12:27 PM
I chose the name Anna as it was a name that I'd always liked when growing up.

:hugs: Anna x

Rachel Schaedel
07-06-2006, 12:45 PM
I chose my name from an old high school friend. I had always liked the way Rachel sounded and Elaine is what I would have wanted my middle name to be if I was born a girl.

Leslie16
07-06-2006, 01:13 PM
Leslie is my real (middle) name!

Tiffany Anne 9954
07-06-2006, 03:53 PM
My femme name was easey for me to choose.
Tiffany---I allways loved that name even when I was young
Anne---St. Anne---Anne Of Green Gables (legendary canadian character)
9954---a unused Canadian Pacific railroad number at the moment (based on my railroad interest and hobby)

Cassy11
07-06-2006, 04:24 PM
I didn't choose my name, my wife did. After seeing me dressed she said "you look like a Cassandra". Myself I like Cassandra LITE, soo Cassy it is!:hugs:

Sarah Rabbit
07-06-2006, 05:00 PM
After pondering for a few days, Sarah kept coming back to me. I later found out my Grandmother was named Sarah. I was supposed to be Sarah A. on this site but I mucked up the Registration Process and was unable to rectify it. My Chinese birth sign is a 'Rabbit', so I took it as my Forum name and have been having fun with it ever since (giggle)

my name was given to me at birth by mom....one thing I know of that she did right.. I think there may be something to the saying " moms know "

Mindy Jean
07-06-2006, 06:01 PM
Hey Dee,

That's a very good guestion. And I guess it deserves some honesty. Sure, it's easy to change your name from chris to christy, but what if you are like some of us that are so unfortunate to not have an easily exchangeable name? I won't give you my real name, but I know the "root" of it is conrad. So I guess connie would be about right. Now that I think about it, it's funny, but I actually dated a girl named connie!
My name is from the first girl that broke my heart. Her name was Mylinda Jean, but we all called her Mindy. Therefore Mindy Jean. She had the most beautiful brunette hair and I guess I have always been trying to acheive the look that she had. She had nothing to do with crossdressing, I was well into it before I met her! But out of all of the girls that I had met to that point, she was the one that I most admired and tried to immulate.

Good question, Dee! At least it got me to thinking!

DonnaT
07-06-2006, 06:04 PM
When I started writing TG fiction/erotica I needed a pen name and separate email account. The pen name I chose, Donna Williams, belonged to a next door neighbor of mine back in the 60s-70s. Then, when signing up for an email account, I added TvTg to Donna, something easy to remember and not long.

When signing up for my first forum I shortened it to DonnaT, again easy to remember and not long.

On one forum, Rose's, I had to use DonnaTvTg because someone else had already taken DonnaT, even though she didn't post using it, which is good since folks from there wouldn't confuse us on other forums such as this one.

i needed a name to register for one of my first online profiles and had to come up with something quick. I chose Christine b/c that was the name of a girl in my office I thought was very attractive and my confirmation name is Christopher. I didn't put a lot of thought into it. It's stuck ever since even tho think about changing it now and again.

How many times has this topic turned up!!?

Sherry Ann Evans

A girl named Sherry was my biggest unrequited childhood crush ... years later I realized that I didn't just want to be *with* her, I wanted to *be* her! So now as an adult CD, I get to act out what it might be like to be Sherry.

My neighbor a few years back come up with mine. I'm still in the closet but I let my neighbors on both sides find out about me. Of course that was before moving. One of my neighbors caught me once... well actually, I went outside when she got home... not really catching me, lol. Anyway, we were talking and she asked me what my name was... this is something I thought about but to no avail. She requested Jasmine, so there it is. "R" is the first initial of my last name.

Karren H
07-06-2006, 10:11 PM
Karren is a single letter deviation of my birth name and Hutton is my mothers maiden name...... And it's always been Karren in the back of my head, every since I was a little girl lol.....

Love Karren

Francine
07-06-2006, 10:39 PM
My mother gave me my name "Francine". I'm not sure she was aware of it, but one time she told me she was going to name me "Francine" if I was a girl. When I started dressing, I remembered that, and been using it for my fem side since.

Francine

GINA-CD
07-06-2006, 11:15 PM
Gina came out because it has something to do with the greek word GYNOS.

"Gynos" means "woman" in the specifically female sense, hence words like "gynecology" for the medical field specializing in the female reproductive system and "androgyny" for a person exhibiting both male and female traits.)

Besides, Gina was the name of a friend's sister I liked very much but she was obviously bigger than me, so never happened there.

Anyhow, was thinking about my name, went to bed and woke up knowing that I wqas Debbie....simple as that

Angela Burke
07-07-2006, 12:29 AM
I chose the name Angela when I was a child.
I think it was because the first two letters are
the same as my own name.
I added the XX not for any air of mystery, but
because there was another girl called Angela already here
when I joined the forum, and I thought XX would look
like two kisses, one on each cheek, as in mmmwah! mmmwah!
An afterthought.
Although my mother was totally supportive of my crossdressing
she would never refer to me as Angela, she always without
exception called me by my full first name, no shortened versions,
never.

kderide
07-07-2006, 03:53 AM
I chose the first name of my fem-self from an actress (Olivia Newton-John) in the movie “Zanadu.” She was a muse.
The last name is a derivative of a name from my family tree, which also means fake. I write the name sort as if it were French, which I am not either. Therefore, I call my fem-self Kira DeRide.

Win Der Mere
07-07-2006, 04:28 AM
Originally Dalesman, which was a nom de plume I used in business, and which was quick and convenient when I registered, but not at all feminine, I changed it to Win Der Mere.

1. A school friend's Mum, whom I found totally alluring was Win.
2. I live near Windermere
3. DER was ( a long time ago ) a Uk TV rental company
4. Mere has a sort of motherly feel to it
5. There are lots of potential variations on the "Win" theme, eg. : "lose", "winj","wink", "win der" etc.
6. Nobody else has anything like it ! ( that's me ; a one-off )
7. Being a classy lakeland lady I needed a classy handle.
8. Bull-shit was always a speciality.

Win

Han
07-07-2006, 03:00 PM
In Finland they don't use sexed words. So Han I belive refers to both male and female. Also, failing that it means 'half' in Japanesse. Plus I am a uber sci-fi geek. So I can't go wrong really.

I named myself after the first girl I ever had a crush on way back in the fourth grade...I grew up and went to high school with Michelle. I think I saw in her everything I wish I could see in myself...I only wish that I could someday tell her just how special she has always been to me.

VERONICARH
07-07-2006, 05:05 PM
I just liked the name Veronica. No other reason. It has nothing to do with my real name.

Gale R
07-08-2006, 05:21 PM
Mine was nice and simple, changed the first letter of my name from D to G and thats where Gale came from.
Now you all know my real name.:D

Hugs, Gale.
