Ok girls today i came out to my flatmate. Story so far.....

Myself and my GF are staying in an apartment with my best friend of 9 years. He didnt know a thing about my dressing until today. Reasons for my outing are as follows.

I have been in a bit of a state since last night because i had gotten a call from my parents that they had a falling out and they aint speaking to each other and stuff was going really bad at home. Long story and really stuff for another time and place but suffice it to say due to some small minded siblings of mine they have been getting a bit upset with each other. Anyway like i said ive been in a bit of a state cos of worrying over it and whatnot as you can imagine and so i feel like i need to relax. So therein lies the reason i had to tell my flatmate.

You see i dress to relax and nothing more. If im stressed real bad and need to relax and decide to dress and he notices and freaks out then bad stuff could happen so I had to take it upon myself to make sure things didnt end up like that. I took him aside (his GF was visiting from sweden) and I told him about it.not much about it but showed him i was serious about what i was saying (people assume everything i say is a joke) by showing him some pics off my phone (decent ones) and told him a small bit about why i was stressed and why i might be seen walking around dressed. I was shocked with what he said. I expected something..... well i dunno jusat something that wasnt what he said. He said:

"So? Nine f***ing years man. After nine years do ya think this would be a problem. I dont mind at all"

Well that had me happy. After that it was all cool. Just finished up with the usual guy thing of tell anyone and i will do damage kinda thing to show I'm still the badass he grew up with. Ya know how it is when talking to really old friends.

Now that thats sorted time to try sorting things out at home.....

Well dear, first of all, hard though it is to comprehend, our parents are just people too. And like all people, life can get rough from time to time. Try to help, but be advised, children tend to not be of much help in this situation. What is going on between them is, in fact, between them. The most important thing you can do is to assure them (and yourself) that regardless of their relationship with each other, that your dad still is, and forever will be, your dad. Your mom, will always be mum.

Second, tell ya what, you got a great friend there. You owe him a pint or two. That is what I found out in my life. People who mind don't matter, and people who matter don't mind.

Telka, seems strange for a Yank to be talking about owing a friend a pint or two! That's a very British thing to say. Maybe you're just living in CA!

My friend Matt and I are avid Guinness drinkers, and we usually refer to them as "pints" also, since thats how they're usually served. And I live in Ohio.

Its the rock deal, I work with lots of people from your islands. Hell, I've even learned when some Scottman says to me "Ooot n Aboot" what he means is out and about. That, and at my favorite bar, the two bartenders, Sean and Melissa, are both from Dublin.

I lived in the UK for about three months, pints and half-pints were my standards. LOL I can understand the Brits better than I can of someone who is from Boston. "Pac the ca". Talk about killing the English language. LOL

Emeralddragon, I'll have a few guesses at your challenge.......

Drink link = ATM/cash machine
skin diver = fiver/five pound note
skint = no money
mickey D's =MacDonalds
grab meself a bite = get something to eat
cup o'skald = cup of tea

How did I do for an Englishman?

Hang on, what's this got to do with CDing???
Oops, looks like I started the rot a few posts ago. Sorry!

Heck, I though I was doing good with pint and lorry. As a california girl I have trouble with any sentence that does not being with "dude" and have the word "copasetic" in it somewhere and isn't referencing the ski conditions or the surf reports (depending on the season).

Of course we have a governor who can't pronounce the name of the state itself, getting an extra syllable in there somehow, everything else here pretty much stages from that point.

One of my favorite dishes in the UK is a "Toad in the hole". Oh don't forget that fries are chips and potato chips are crispes. My favorite is what they call 7up - Lemonaid. Now what we call lemonaid, they call it Lemon Water.
