View Full Version : Does x-dressing play a bigger role in your life than it otherwise would if

you had other interests??? For example, my husband is a bit of a sportsman...he loves his sailing, cycling, etc...consequently dressing frequently is not really a major issue. His main issue is that he would like to socialize with more people like himself. As I participate on this forum, I am finding this a bit less threatening.

Also, he says he has absolutely NO desire to go out in public and pass (well...this may have a little to do with the fact that he is 6'3" :).

So the question is: is x-dressing your main interest outside of family or a wok? If not...what other interests do you have and do they minimize or maximize your interest for x-dressin? Thank You...jean

I have a number of other interests besides crossdressing. I write, read, go to festivals, movies, tutor, attend college..you get the picture. Crossdressing is great but it doesn't consume me 24/7.

Huge comic geek! I luv the funny papers. I've a large collection but not as big as Tina D's.
My main focus is artwork though the creative urge has left me for the time being. Commissions often take the wind outta my sales cause I can't get into some of the topics.
As for cding. In my household it just simply can't take place on even a near frequent basis. Maybe if I'm lucky a couple of times a month. But this place helps contain the urges because If I want to feel girly at all I can do it here. But usually I'm just sacastic little me. But my whole personality is here if that makes any sense.

I am into Amateur Radio, Sailing, Flying, Model Railroading, survival camping and reading. Most of these both male and female are into. Don't know of any female that is into Survival Camping. LOL

I would say crossdressing occupys mabey 40% of my time, the rest is either wife, work, or other hobbies. But then I am still in the closet to my wife. If I was out, that 40% would probley go up. LOL
Only reason I say 40%, is I wear panties everyday, and once a week, I add a bra, pantyhose, and camio. So I am at least dressed part way everyday.

Well for me, since work takes up 30%, family, 40%, sleep - 25%....hmmm..dropped my calculator!!...that leaves 5%. And of the 5%, playing ice hockey takes up a chunk being tied with crossdressing. Yeah and watching TV (love Monk and that new Psych), NHRA drag racing...

So to answer your question, I guess if I could squeze something else in, I could crossdress less... Ohhh but then I really don't want to. Hehehe. I'd rather sleep less and crossdress more!!

I doubt it - I've always been engaged in 'artistic' pursuits (including poetry) which falls easily into the fem identity. And music - I've boogied in front of the mirror almost all my life, so I guess my other stuff is pretty well integrated.

Hi Jean,

Other interests, hmmm, let me see. Of course there's work (yuck); family - wife and 4 children occupy a good portion of my "freetime"; computer gaming (World of Warcraft - current addiction); casual digital photography (meaning I wish I was a lot better than I am).

Work and family pretty much minimize my actual crossdressing time but probably increase the time I spend thinking about it. Gaming is neutral, but photography probably increases my interest in crossdressing. We, crossdressers that is, generally like to take photos of ourselves.

I think I would like to socialize more with other crossdressers. I only recently (1 week ago) came out to my wife, but hope to get her interested in going to a Tri Ess meeting.

Love

Long list of hobbies here. Sometimes CDing seems like a more rewarding hobby, so I do more of it. Sometimes it's less compelling and I do less.

Recently I have been spending more time CDing and in related activities because (1) I am enjoying myself and (2) I am trying to help my wife through the adjustment (which means lots of reading, thinking, writing, etc. on my part).

I've got lots of other interests, but they have been taking a back seat lately. How my other interests influence all this? Well, most of my other interests don't relate to any sort of femininity, maybe music tho (I used to teach for several years at a local music store) I've always had a passion for listening to a good female voice, it triggers something in me. I like to sing out loud in my car with certain music and practice the female inflections I hear. LOL so there is one.

Watching TV... now there's a brainless activity hehe but it's split again, sometimes I watch guy stuff, but then I watch a lot of other stuff too :p I love watching What Not to Wear on TLC hehe

I keep fish, do gardening and do voluntary work.

It does not consume all my time, but yes, I've been late for work due to my dressing.:o

I have more intrests than I really have time for. Motorcycle, boats, atv's, cars, movies, music, fishing, thoes who know me also know I have almost 20 fish tanks and belong to an aquarium society, raise 200 chickens, camping, travel, US history, games (x-box,playstation2, and gamecube), guns, racing, and others I can not bring to mind. My point is that my dressing is no less because of all that I have going on. It is who I am and is in my heart and mind while doing all of the things listed above. Oh, and I almost forgot I love eBay:D

My favorite program too!! That Carmandy has given me the greatest makeup tips!! Always thought they should have a TG version... Where the host plays both Stacy and Clinton!! Could be called "What Your Not Supposed to Wear". :D. And every week they bring in male contestants and give them a complete transformation!! Hehe

sorry, jean, but crossdressing (or however it's referred to) is not an interest - it's a divisive word, as is transvestite - and if you take them to their logical conclusions, any GG that wears jeans or trousers is also a crossdresser/transvestite.
look into the history of when GGs started wearing levi's jeans (sometime in the 1940s or 50s i think) and you'll find that they suffered all kinds of abuse for it.
similarly in the 1970s when GGs started wearing doc marten's boots.
to me clothes are clothes and any person of any gender should be able to wear whatever they like whenever they like.
for instance, if i'm working on my van, bike or a festival site, i'll probably wear a dirty old pair of jeans and steel toecaps; if i'm going shopping or down the pub, i might want to wear a skirt and heels (in an ideal world without the abusers!).
what difference does an item of clothing make to others - after all, we've all been here before at different times as all genders!

My main interests besides work and the family is other people and getting to know them. I have established a lot of friendships of all types with this attitude. I appreciate everyone for who they are and they appreciate me likewise. It's nice getting to know people and find out who they really are beneath the surface. Makes me appreciate life a lot more. Maybe I should drop the show an idea at their webpage :) No... wait... they just might show up at MY door then. LOL what a way to come out of the closet that would be!! :lol2:

hi, i work with a marching band and designe for them. that takes up most of my "free" time. my wife and i also go to rens fests and kyake and go see drum corps.....but also love to dress. its just one part of a whole for me.at times they all consume alot but something always has to give.

I also have many hobbies, I hunt, fish, bicycle, and kayak. I still manage to work crossdressing into these hobbies as well. Biking is an excellent excuse for shaved and well tanned legs and I always ride in ladies bicycle shorts. They are typically black in color but are quite a bit shorter than men's shorts, they really show off your legs. When kayaking on the river you may not see another person all day and it is a perfect time to wear ladies short shorts and tank tops etc. Far from taking away from my crossdressing my hobbies actually inspire it. Typically bikers and kayakers are a little weird anyway so people don't think a lot about what you wear or how you act.

My hobbies include several things that don't mix well with crossdressing, and some that do. For example: photography, net surfing, sewing, audiophile pursuits, ham radio, all mix pretty well with crossdressing. However, motorcycling is just one of mine that does not mix very well at all - long wig won't fit in helmet, skirt/heels won't provide protection in the event of a fall, makeup comes off on inside of helmet, etc. I haven't ridden at all yet this summer, if that subconciously answers your question:o

Hi Jean,

First off, yes, crossdressing is my main interest, BUT, let me add a twist to your question.

For years, I "used" interests & hobbies to try to mask & "make go away" my desires to crossdress.
First, it was racing, drag & round track.
Then it was bass fishing, semi-pro.
Then it was buying a motorcycle.
It finally hit me that it was not "going away". So now I have my motorcycle that I love to ride & I can crossdress anytime I want to.
My, the money it costs me to come to that conclusion.

Hugs,

Beth

I have plenty of other interests (music, cars, computers), but the crossdressing is always there. If i'm not actually dressing i'm either talking to someone about, arguing about, writing about it, or thinking about it. It has become less of something I do and more of who I am.

So the question is: is x-dressing your main interest outside of family or a wok? If not...what other interests do you have and do they minimize or maximize your interest for x-dressin?

I'm a recovering workaholic; I haven't developed many interests that aren't somehow related to my work.

Cross-dressing gets me out, socializing and talking to people. Not just to other CDers: I'm holding extended conversations with store owners and sales clerks whereas before it would have been "just business"... if I would have had reason to go there at all.

Cross-dressing is giving me a lot more confidence in the social realm.

In a way, it is a bit of a problem: I now finally know some people well enough do some activities with them, but since my spouse knows that I don't know anyone, since I'm not "out" with my spouse, I don't have any excuses for going out. Not even if it was all drab -- I don't have any explanation for where I met these people...

It's a good theory, but I'm afraid it doesn't apply to me: sometimes I cd less when I have more free time or cd more when I have less free time. I have lots of interests and they are not really in competition that way. I do think it is very important to have lots of different activities though.

My first love is a sport that I do almost every weekend. I love to read and I am student as well as having a full time job. Crossdressing is something I do when the urge is so strong that I just have to get dressed.

I try to keep my dressing to a minimum. Only dress when I can no longer resist. I do wear panties everyday all the time and that helps curb the urges.

Outside of family or work, I like to surf the web, read, drink wine, go on recreational cycle rides with Marla, and every once in a while play a round of golf. These pursuits neither minimize or maximize by interest in cding. What usually happens is that my cross dressing sometimes gets incorporated into my other social activities. Like when we recently went away for the weekend to San Fransisco, I was en femme almost the whole time. When we go grocery shopping I'm a somewhat feminized male, and our next trip to the theater to see a play I'll be going en femme. What I'm saying is, I live my life but integrate my cding into it to a greater or lesser extent depending on how I'm feeling or what my wife wants.
