Being totally in the closet, I have all my own wardrobe, limited as it may be I'm happy with what I have. I may make an occassional addition. I know it's wronge to wear the SO's clothes. But here's the question: If the SO does some closet cleaning & sets out a bag of clothes, asks you to drop in a Goodwill bin, is it wrong to rummage through her "Trash" in search of "Gold"? Usually her too tights, fit me great & other items she just grew tired of. Was I being a Bad Girl? Or a thrifty shopper?

Hugs,
Michelle

I've done it - many times! I've acquired a couple of pairs of hose that way. And just recently 3 or 4 very nice skirts! But actually, my wife was cleaning out my mother-in-law's closet. So if it's wrong, we're both in trouble!

You bad girl.If she does not know you dress and the first time she surprises you and catches you dressed the fall-out will be greater due to you wearing her "stuff".Go buy your own.0.02

Closet CDs have to be very resourceful. If it was thrown away.....you just picked it up....no big deal. Relax and enjoy. Of course you probably have personally deprived some poor African child out of a well....or a new school! (I believe they cost 50p each....I watched Live Aid) but hey....that's your business.:D

Mclegs, As you say what is trash to one is a treasure to some one else. So you are a thrifty and wish shopper . That reminds me of what my wife did, she put out a bag as usual ,i go through it and take what she doesnt want but the kicker is that she TOOK BACK a blue jean jumper i have been eyeing for awhile .HA!HA! Oh well easy come easy go .Ill get that jumper yet . Stefi

My stash is made up entirely (well almost) of my wife's cast offs.

One trick I have played it to talk my wife into buying something she doesn't really like (but I do). The last being a shorter length fake leather skirt.
She wanted the long one, I wanted the short one. I talked her into buying both.
The long one she wears(rarely), the shorter one made it's way into my stash as she never wore it :)
I've done this with boots and a swimming costume :)

My stash became my official stash Back last year when we had our long discussion. She asked my to assemble the stuff I like to wear so she could vet it. it was made up of old cast offs and things that she never really wanted in the first place... I think she's cottoned on now, as I rarely get her buying stuff she doesn't want :(

I took to wearing her no longer used clothes as these were less likely to be noticed that they had moved :)

Personally, I would not have done this ........

If I gave someone something, or some money to pass on to charity and they took it, or it never got there, I'd be pi$$ed off. It, after all deprives the charity and decieves the person who kindly donated the items.

Why not, at least put a bit of cash in the charity's money box to make it up?

Just my thoughts.

we just had a big yard sale, my wife sold several of her clothes. as we were hanging them up or putting them out, she told if i liked something to make sure i grabbed it. she is smaller than i am,so i didnt keep but a couple of things. after the sale we boxed stuff up for goodwill and i went through her stuff one more time.... no, your not wrong in my opinion.0.02

McLegs, I've done it too, and I don't think it's wrong. You may have paid for it (directly or indirectly) in the first place anyway!

There have been many times in which I had hoped that a girl I knew would throw away some of her clothes, just so that I could get to them before the garbage man does.

They say if it hits the curb, it's fair game. But to GoodWill, that's takey. Keep the clothes and donate a 10 spot. That will give you a clear concious...BJ

It is wrong. If she accepts what you are, why push it with a 'Rummage Sale' Buy your own New clothes or get your S.O. to help you...Hmm ...I could go on, But do you need the slap on the head?

To counter this... buy from Charity shops!

Charity shop shopping is fantastic, and INCREDIBLY cheap for a closet CD... Though if you're not great with dirty looks, you probably won't last long in these places.

£2.50 for a short tarten skirt though?? Hell yes!

Works for me Hon. A lot of my wife's yard sale stuff never made it to the table. She didn't seem to care since the money was there for it (it was an "honor system" yard sale). Ericka
