Hi Girls,
I had been trying to get by with clip ons when in femme, but they kept leaving a red mark. So I finally gave up on them and got my ears pierced instead.
I am sure that a few of my co workers already suspect that I may be a cross dresser or maybe even gay, since some hae seen leftover eye liner on Mondays, or noticed my clear nail polish on longer nails or perhaps my support hose under slacks when sitting down...
Since I must leave them in 24/7 for 4-6 weeks, I will have to wear them to work. By the way they are Cubic Zirconium, Dec. birthstone on a small stud.
Anyone have any snappy comebacks for the nosy co workers in an office?
Hugs,
Joanie

"or noticed my clear nail polish"
Does anyone else think nail polish is not a "girl" thing? I haven't had one person say anything to me yet. The girls I get manicures don't think anything of it.

When I 1st got my left ear done (an 80's thing) My nice but conservative Boss said "Why did you get that done?"
I said "Have you ever gotten something for reasons you cannot explained but got it anyway"
He said "Yes"
I said "Thats why I got the Earing"
He never questioned further.
Full set both ears Now

I got my ears pierced two years ago and none of my coworkers, who obviously did not know about my closet crossdressing, had bad comments, nor did my boss. The one I shared most of my time with, a good loking 40-year-old woman, said I looked great with earrings. One day she joked, "After your ear piercing, you will learn how to appreciate other womenish things, such as nail polish, lipstick, high heels..." All I did was laughing.

I have had both ears pierced and wear earrings all the time and no one has said anything about them. I have worn earrings which are mainly femmine in style and have had women compliment me on them. I wear nail polish all the time, both feet and fingers and have received many compliments from women on how they look, and I do wear some nice looking nails as I do them myself. I like the glitter type polish. Best of luck and best wishes.

hehe the 80's were awesome! :p that's when I grew my hair long, I remember I had this pink button up shirt with this white tank top I liked to wear, a pair of pink and light blue converse tennis shoes LOL and was this close to having my ears pierced...
You could always tell them you're a musician! Everyone know musicians are a little out there. Worked for me at the time hehe of course I am a musician so that helped :p

OK, here is a few I could think of:
1) (from a girl)Are gay because you got your ears pierced? "Well I wasnt untill a minute ago"
2) (from a guy, same statement) No, but for you, I can be!
3) Got a great deal....what the number of the place?
That all I can come up with right now. I waited 17 years to get mine done. I was in the military from 1983-2000. The day I got my official discharge papers (12 Aug, 2000) I got one ear done. about 6 months later I got one in the other ear, and now have 2 in each ear. It took my mother about 4 visits with her before she even noticed I had 4. In Ithaca, My piercing are not unusaul in any way

When I had my ears pierced, I used to remove my earrings for work, and put them back in when I got home. Both sets of holes were done that way.

Well I have not got my done yet but I'm planning on it when we go to Provincetown. My hair is long enough to cover my ears so it may not be that noticeable.
If you don't want people to know you are TG then perhaps tell them that your SO or friend dared you to get them done.
For me if there weren't other implications at work I would be proud to tell people that I am TS. It's inevitable that I will tell them anyway.

If you need a snappy rejoinder for a male co-worker, how about: 'A lot of hot women really notice and go for this sorta thing. You oughta try it and see.' I've used that on several occasions to good effect.

Got both ears pierced, my hair comes almost half-way down my back, manicured nail with clear polish,2 rings on one hand, 3 on the other, and 2 bracelets one being a cute dangelly charm , noone has said any thing at work. If someone wants to classify as gay, so what? I know the reason for my feminine traits showing. I was asked at one point why I got the ears done, and just said it was something I had thought about for years. There are so many men today with pierced ears that very few people notice any more. One thing I find interesting since Lily is letting her presence known is that all the women I know have become friendlier, hugging and kissing me on the cheek in greeting and saying goodbye. Some of that has to because it is not only my outward appearance, but acting more femme in general most of the time. I love it! Love and xxxx, Lily

Had my ears pierced last year and don't care what anybody thinks. I love wearing earrings or studs, and my wife likes me better with them, than without. The only comments I've had were from my brother; "spose next it'll be a tatoo", to which I replied "already got one on my b**. (I haven't) LOL

Hi all,
Thanks for the great ideas.
As it turns out, I was shocked at the LACK of questions or comments. Two co workers, whom I knew would be supportive, were both positive, but quietly. One female coworker seemed surprised and said, "how long have u had them?" I told her, and that was that.
One male co worker engaged me for a few minutes about how HE HAD THEM TOO, when he was younger, ina rock band, with long hair. Seemed to be supportive.
Otherwise absolutely no one said anything, good or bad.
I would have liked a compliment or two, but I guess no negatives is OK.
This has been three days now, so I think I am past the point of fear. My only concern now is one work from home worker who comes once a month to the plant, who may be hostile , or at least ask some questions. I will let you know how that goes, probably not until around 8/2/06.
Thanks again for your support and ideas.
Hugs,
Joanie

There are so many high level celebs with pierced ears now I think the silent majority merely accept it as one of those things people do.

Havent needed an excuse, or reason for them. :D
Doesnt really matter since Im not the only one on the crew that has both their ears pierced and waxed brows.

Men having both ears pierced is such a common occurrence here in NY, so nobody blinks an eye. I guess it may be different where you are. Personally, I don't think it's anyone's business, as long as you're not violating a company policy. You don't owe anybody an explanation. :p

Had mine done in November (age 50). Only one comment from one co-worker and I simply said I've always wanted them done, so finally did.
Took about 9 weeks for mine to heal to the point where the post went straight through the ear instead of trying to wander. So leave them in constant for a minimum of 6 weeks.

Most likely no one cares about you wearing earrings to work...alot of guys wear them and even two or three sets in their ears these days and not all guys who wear ear rings or has nice nails are Cd's or gay.....sound like you want to be notice at work....are you having a bad day?

HI Dee,
I guess I want it both ways, I wanted attention, but only compliments. I guess most people compliment women's earrrings, but are not sure what to say to a guy. Altho one GG did say to me, " I like them".
So I guess I am glad I got no negatives, but disappointed that men don't get the same compliments as women, even from women... Sigh
So, no I guess it has been a good day, in fact a good week.

Had mine double pierced years ago. No one ever mentions them, except sometimes to say "when did you get your ears pierced". To which I reply, "10 years ago!". People can be really unobservant at times!

Guess people are pretty unobservant about the red marks too, or my ears just are more resiliant. Love my clip-ons. I have enough holes in my head without adding a couple more.:D

I have several piercings in each ear. When I was asked why I had both ears done I said that I didn't want to discriminate between my right and left ears.
