Hi, Paige
If you do find anything that works well I suggest you put it on the market and sell it. You will get rich overnight. :D

All I can really suggest is shaving again in the afternoon, but this is a bit of a pain as it can involve reapplying makeup. I hear electrolosis works, but that may be a bit too perminant for your liking!

Sorry Paige,
The solution is to shave and shave again, otherwise your looking at laser or electroly$i$. I actually have a thread in the ts forum about this wondering what gets the most bang for the buck. I'll keep ya in the loop when I find out.

I have fineish light brown hair so have never had a shadow at all. A close shave in the morning with a 4 bladed razor is all I need! Did try plucking an area as a test. But wasn't a success, ingrown hairs and new hair springing up! I'd say waxing would have simular results. So if you want something that lasts it ether electrons or laser!! I'm waiting for the home laser hair removal kits to hit the market. "Darth Vader in a can". Hehehe

Well from the looks of your replies, youre not the only one that has this problem.....and we both know you arent getting anything permanent :) So I guess you'll have to shave twice if your face can handle it.....Hey or maybe try putting more makeup on??? We've never tried that :)

If you have a dark beard its tough to cover up, dermablend works but in day light it looks like you have to much make up ,as you get older it will go grey
I am 53 and most of my beard is grey and I dont need much make up but
if you are out all day most will need a 2nd shave for the evening ,

Hi Paige,
I've heard some girls mention using the type of electric shaver that has the shave head with little holes in it to touch up 5 o'clock shadow with their makeup on, then touch up the makeup. Can't vouch for it, never tried it myself.
Of course, there's always electrolysis. After too many years, I have my first appointment to start that tomorrow night, and I can't wait!

While it is difficult to do a definative study, I have used any of the shave minimizing lotions (used generally on one's legs) on my face and I believe that it slows things down and also thins the hair. You have to use it every day for a while and it doesn't stop things totally but I believe that it will give you an extra couple of hours. Of course, one goes through cycles of faster and slower growth and I have noticed this on top of my other observations. It is worth a try. It worked the best when I did it twice a day.

I have found that a close shave to sart and another later mabe twenty minutes
i have a nice close shave. When I start to see shadow or very light hairs I just shave again right over my mackup with a electric shaver. I than just retouch my makeup and continue on. I now have a Battery shaver that I can do this almost anywhere.
If I know I'm going out in the evening, I will not shave that morning. I find with a little longer beard, the shave is closer. I shave with a blade in the shower. The heat from the water softens my beard and I get a really smooth, close shave. My facial hair is very light so I don't need any extra makeup to cover it. When I am doing the all day thing and into the evening, I must remove my makeup at the end of the day, touch up my face with the electric razor and then reapply my makeup.

Hi Carol,
Good for you, you'll love the results! The best investment I've made in my appearance. My beard is 99% removed. It's really great not having to shave everyday. No more nicks or cuts. Not to mention not having to trowel on the foundation. It really softens the skin. Drink lots of water and go in with aleast a two day growth.

Hi Renee,
Thanks for the encouragement and tip! I can hardly wait. It's hard to imagine never having to shave or deal with covering beard shadow again, but I am more than ready for that!
Hugs,
Carol

Oh Karren, always the exception to everything
My facial hair does not grow particularily quickly, nor corsely. I don't often have "5 o'clock shadow".
On the other hand, my skin colour is fair enough that no matter how close the shave, the dark folicules above my mouth are noticable unless I put makeup on them. It isn't a "shadow" nor a matter of not having shaved closely enough: even when nothing can be felt, the dark spots remain.

Aveeno Positively Smooth Shaving Gel
and
Aveeno Positively Smooth Moisturizing Lotion
Takes 4 to 6 weeks of constant use to retard hair growth, but I can shave in the morning and not have the 5 o'clock shadow until the next morning.

I am now an Aveeno fan. Although I didn't care much for the shaving gel, (don't care for shaving gels of any kind), I absolutely love the moisturizing lotion. I found that after a couple weeks my need to shave was cut by about a third. I don't know what's in there, but they're on to something with the inhibitors.

Noxema Shave Gel works great. It has a pink cap BTW. I buy it at Wal Mart. It helps lenghten the time between shaves. Also I use a 3 blade razor, Track 3.:D

I'll have to check out Aveeno. Does it hurt or tingle or anything when you use it???

I use the Aveeno as well. I've been using it for about six months now on my face, arms and legs with noticeable results. It doesn't hurt at all, but it does tingle a bit on my face. Best thing is that it's fairly cheap and you can pick it up at a drug store -- Rite Aide or Save-On.
