Most stores have the hanging thingy(cant think of what its called) with the different colors for you to put against your face to see what matches....or you could always ask a rep at a cosmetic counter, I dunno how open you are to something like that otherwise its really hard to tell without seeing your face
And to be honest my hubby helped me pick the right shade for myself, he said id been wearing the wrong shade all along HA HA Yet another benefit of being married to a CD

Some makeup counters, like Prescriptives at Hechts, can mix colors to get the right shade.

Unless you have a very good sense for colors, you will probably benefit from getting professional help. All MAC employees are cd-friendly, and based on my highly unscientific survey of posts here, probably 95% of all other makeup counter reps are as well. Just set your courage, go to a counter and ask for a matching foundation or whatever.
BTW I absolutely love shopping for makeup now (dedicated MAC girl here) whereas I used to consider this a real chore when furtively searching out matching colors in drugstores!!!

I agree 100% with Erica. Go to the MAC counter (or store) and let them help you find the right one. Sometimes it is not enough to match the color to your skin tone. In those instances, it is very helpful to be able to TRY different shades until you find the right one. This doesn't have to be like a full makeover, just a couple samplings. I am a MAC girl so of course I am biased toward their products but any counter will help you to find the right shade.

It might work to your advantage to try varitey of shades, what I mean is that if you get three different shades, one dark, one medium, and one lighter you can mix them a bit to find the shade you really need. Then all you would have to do is dab a bit on a piece of paper or something let it dry and match it where ever you purchase your makeup from. Besides depending on the time of year and how much sun you get, your skin tone is likely going to change. So having a couple of different shades probably isnt a bad idea.....
Hope I helped...:2c:

we use the loreal truematch line it works perfectly and is very user friendly (they have the hanging thingy to match skin tone) pick your number on there then just get that number for the whole line blusher concealer powder, etc...
