About a month ago, I had a long talk with my Dad. i hadn't spoken with him in over 6 years due to a falling out. He lives in MN and I'm here in IL. I sent him an e-mail a couple months ago telling him that soon we really needed to talk. The coming out crisis with my wife (re: cding as well as a nasty porn addiction...please with hold judgement..i know I'm not alone in that) was at a fever pitch. For some reason, like a mesage from the heavens I felt that if there was anyone who i could talk to about these things it was my father. The man has had a life long battle with alchohol that several years ago tore our family apart. At 64, he's found piece in his life.
At any rate, I let it all out when he paid me a visit in June. Sharing with him what only 2 others know about me. (My wife and my therapist).I'm his only son of five and his youngest. That's right I'm the only boy with 4 only sisters. Hmmmmmm wonder where the inspiration came from to wear girls clothes??

Anyway, he was amazing. It just slid right off him. Not in a bad way, but the best possible way. The way that let me know that it doesn't matter what I do, he's my father and he loves me unconditionaly and only wants me to be happy in life.
Since that day we talk on the phone twice a week, and can truley say anything to each other.

Just wanted to share this with you all.

Hi Dann...........I'm very happy for you. I'm so glad you worked up your courage to tell your dad. I lost my dad two years ago. I wish I had the chance to have told him about my crossdressing. He actually helped my brother with his being bi. My brother was out to him for 25 years and he helped my brother and sister in law get through the hard times. My brother only told me a year ago, we are much closer now that we know about each other. I so wish I could talk to my dad now, I might have found out some things about myself that I have forgotton. Time goes by so fast, talk to the people that love you. Before its to late. ....Best wishes...Sandy

Just goes to show there's sometimes a reason to take the more difficult road. Right on for you - and your father.
