British shop Superdrug has launched a new eyeliner exclusively for men called Guyliner! Here is an article about it from Mirror.co.uk (and there are plenty more online too!):

"AN eyeliner for blokes - called Guyliner - has been launched by a chain store. The make-up is aimed at men who want a punky look like Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean. Superdrug plans to have in-store beauty specialists to show fellas how to apply it properly.

The store's beauty director Jeff Wemyss said: "Our beauty trends watchers have been aware of the merging of lines between male and female beauty.

"This is a great example of men using female products in a masculine way.

"Johnny Depp is the archetype of this style and he really carries it off in Pirates of the Caribbean."

Other celebrities known to use a touch of eyeliner include Robbie Williams and the Kaiser Chiefs singer Ricky Wilson. The £5.99 pencil comes in brown, black and grey."

I recall Depp in Tim Burton's Ed Wood (especially good performance from Martin Landau) - kinda makes me wonder about the lad ...

Kate -- I don't know about this blurring of the gender lines. It could lead to putting on clear mascara and wearing panties and all that.

If "The Lines" get too blurred, then where will the FUN be?

I bought some face soap for men and the lady told me the mens product are no different than the female product, they just put them in dark packaging with a label that says men on it.

This is really cool. Here in the states, I recently saw a story on one of the major television networks (CBS) about how there is actually an emerging male market for cosemetics. The story talked about how (as mentioned in an earlier post) the products are exactly the same things, but they are packaged in a more "masculine" way. There must be something to all of this, because I also just received a free sample of Revitalizing Lotion for men in the mail. All we need now are skirts, heels and dresses for men...lol

Well after all, skin is skin isn't it? They don't sell male and female sunblock do they?

About six bucks. Another marvel of modern marketing, package it for men and double the price. Think that I'll just stick with Revlon.

I dunno. To me, the whole point of cross-dressing is to gain access to the feminine. If putting on eyeliner isn't part of a transformation, it just becomes another pain in the butt thing I'd have to do to get ready for my day. And that doesn't interest me in the least. It's taken me this long just to get used to the idea of blow-drying my hair. :heehee:

If others find it appealing, great. Viva freedom. But I'd no more put on eye-liner as a man, than I would wear football pads when dressing to be a woman.

The label FOR MEN is the difference.
This way folks doesn't have to lurk around the girls' cosmetic racks, doesn't have to fear to be read as gay, CD or even pervert, doesn't have to think about some stories as an excuse etc.

For this comfort you have to pay a few bucks more and you have less choises.
The same with hair colour, depilation cream, thights and hose, makeup, skirts, aging cream, soap, and the like.

If that's the case I would write them and tell them. If guys continue to buy revelon or other brand, they will assume men do want such an item and discontinue production. At least let them know were buying else where because of the price.

As for cosmetics I believe Loreal Paris now has a basic mens line for skin care and the like, and so does clinique.

But back to the eye liner thing, as fun as it sound I could never pull it off. My skin and hair is way to fair to pull off the punk /grunge / emo whatever look.

I think the diffrence is that you can say yeah i wear it but it is for men it helps to keep that macho image all guys are sposed to have accourding to society.

Yup, that's way we should be happy about it. Gives us more freedom.

Its stooopid, they should just market a single product as unisex.

I am all for it. As you might have read from past posts I work for an Independent Cosmetic Company, so we do work for all the major ones as well as alot of the small ones and over the years I've seen Manacure kits for men sporting clear as well as buff nail polish, conceler for men to hide blemishes, and many skin care products. Companies have found women Have to have it, while with men it's a trend then they might try it, or they need to get a free sample to get them Hooked. Trends come and go, remember the designer jeans of the late 70's for men, they were as tight as the womens, mine used to be so tight you could tell if the quarter in my pocket was heads or tails, wish I still had mine now. Men's clothes today are so baggy, I don't see them as sexy, I don't look good in them one bit.
One trend I hope the guys would start from movie "Pirates of Carribeen", long hangling ear rings. So when you see a long haired male sporting eyeligner, nail polish, long ear rings, toting a 6 Pack under one arm in makeup aisle the mega supermarket, he's not one of us girls, just an ultra trendy guy.

It's just that guys don't have the gonads to wear eyeliner, shadow or whatever, unless it says it's for "men"! Got a hunch a lot of them will still be ribbed by their buddies. Ericka

When I was in my teens,( Mid 80's) John Derek (Bo's husband) tried to develop a line of cosmetics, including eyeliner and foundations for men...Alas his plans disappeared faster than his marriage to Bo.

Veet have hair removal products just for men.
The container isn't pink.... I'm guessing that's the ony difference, and the fact that it has "For men" on the label.

When is someone going to bring out a nice LBD and lable it "For men"????
