When in towns away from your area, are you more likely to shop for fem items than in yourt home town for fear of being seen?

I am.

Yesterday, for the first time, instead of buying something in a charity shop I visited a specialist leatherwear shop and tried on several skirts in front of the saleswoman.

She was so helpful and explained she could arrange items made to order.

If I am away by myself for business, I am definitely more likely to shop more and be more open with the SAs

I shop either way in my neighborhood; it really doesn't matter. I love to go
to payless shoes. It is 4 blocks from my home. I have a big lots about 3 blocks and going there is good for bargins and if you can find the toilet paper
which for some reason is just before you leave the store

I don't buy women's things in my small town, but when I'm away I shop. The nearest city is not too far and I frequently shop there. I've been seen twice by women I know but nothing was ever said about those encounters.

well,,, if they're sellin',,, i'm buyin',,, 'specially if i find a sale!!! doesn't really matter if i'm home or away,,, but, i doooo seem t' shop a lot when i travel,,, seems i always forget t' bring something along, 'n as long as i'm out,,, b'sides, i like t' check out th' shoppes we don't have locally, 'n since Cincy's hardly a fashion paradise, whenever i get someplace like NY 'r Chicago, i'm payin' off th' plastic for month's t' come,,,

I find shopping in a town away fom home easier. But I sometimes shop in my home town, in particular in large department stores where ther is sort of an anonymous feeling. It is easy to pretend I'm shopping for my SO.

If it was just for me, I wouldn't care being recognized in local shops while buying "femme" clothes. But my So is very worried that I would be discovered, and in addition my whole family still lives in that town and are very well known. So, uot of respect for my SO and my family, I try to be very cautious when I shop in my home town.

Fortunately I do travel a lot far away from home, and that makes my shopping easier...

I try not to buy my fem clothing locally, but do shop at our mall occasionally. Most everyone who knows us knows I buy my wife clothes from time to time and even though she's 5'3" and I'm 6',we wear the same pants size so I have the excuse that I'm shopping for her if seen by someone I know. However she wears size 6 1/2 shoes and I wear 11 or 12 and for that reason I really try to avoid buying my shoes locally. But if I'm desperately wanting a new pair( ) I may shop for these close to home also.

To clarify my earlier post, while I am most definitely NOT afraid to shop locally and let the SAs know it is for me, I shop even MORE when I am away

I think I shop more than dress!!!

I know I do  I shop and buy things I like, telling myself that I'll wear them out "soon", but my actual opportunities to go out en femme are not so frequent...

i tend to go to the next town so i don't run into someone as likely as i would being in hometown.

When i am going shopping, particularily femme, i go at least an hour and half away from home.
there are 2 reasons:
First i live near a very small village, with only a drug store, grocery store and hardware, so there is no place to shoppe femme.
If i go to the next larger town / city, i went to school and worked there and know too many people that do not know Denise.
By going out of town, i have a much better selection in the larger malls and stores. If any one did see me totally femme, it is doubtful i would be recognized, as I would be so far out of context from what they would expect to see, and that gives me a bit of a comfort zone.

I just went shopping successfully for the first time yesterday, and it was out of town. It helped for sure, but shopping/browsing locally wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. Of course it's easier to bump into someone you know :p so have a good excuse ready hehe

Generally speaking I don't care, but I did have a close call today. I took the day off of work today and I was at the mall shopping for boy clothes, and decided to pop into the MAC store...I was about 20 feet from the entrance when a good female friend of mine walked out.

Tomorrow I have to go on a business trip to Atlanta...Lennox Mall in Buckhead is going to get invaded. :D
