Was catching up on the site Sat. night. Daughter had gone to bed and son was asleep on the couch watching SNL. Next thing I know in he walks before I could log off. He read the heading (boy is it noticable). All I said was that I was surfing and ran across the site. I don't know if I should say anything else or just let it drop(he's 15 and a really great kid).

Lots of men surf sites like ours out of prurient interest, looking for pictures. Maybe he will think that. Next time leave watchersweb.com up.

Good luck

I saw a site the other day that had a panic button on it that you could click and the screen instantly simulated the opening screen for Microsoft (I don't know what it is really called but it's the screen with all the icons on it). It wouldn't help Apple users but might be helpful to the rest of us.

if my wife walks in and finds I've just shut down Explorer she knows....

my advice would be to have a second web page open in the background, if you go 'minimise' on the first one it is instantaneous. But if the family is suspicious they can read the webpage title on the footer bar. Unless you have so many sites open it just says Explorer(4).

be careful :)

I keep another page open in the back ground too, but use the Alt+Tab function to switch pages.

Also I keep my finger on the thumb wheel of the mouse and scroll the screen down real fast to hide the heading.

As for the taskbar at the bottom of the screen, mine is set to "autohide" so it doesn't show until I take the mouse to the bottom of the screen.

I don't usually hide it from my wife or son, but occasionally I will.

i use opera for browsing cd sites, with an open window to an innocent name. because opera uses tabbed browsing, only one window appears even with multiple sites. so if anyone comes, first step is to click on the tab with the innocent site, like yahoo mail, then switch to ie or maxthon (tabbed browsing using ie). this way, the taskbar wont show anything incriminating... but for emergency, i'll just switch straightaway to the next browser, and hope the person who snuck up behind me (ggrrr) wont read the taskbar... since the screen ultimately shows a browser, nothing to be suspicious about ;)

I would just let it drop. There are some things better left unsaid, unless, of course, your son comes to you and inguires. Me? I would lie to him and say that I had just accidently hit a wrong link.
This also shows why it's a good idea to erase all history each time you've finished browsing.

If you son is 15 and an avid computer geek then I'm sure he knows about "warez" and crack sites or MP3 sites, and how the stankin porn stuff pops up all the time. Next time someone walks in just say "Damn porn popups" and act like it was a popup from one of those sites from where you were looking for some software or your fave music.

Another nice browser to use is Maxthon, the windows open within one program using tabs, so yoiu can click to another tab or close it quickly using a double click or click the scroll button on the mouse and no one would probably notice. Maxthon (formerly known as MyIE) is an enhancement to Internet Explorer. Lots of features, and can even clean out your history and cache when closed so no one can come back later and see where you been.

I generally have many other windows open and I shrink the size of the window to about 1 inch by 3 inches and move the box halfway to the left. Anybody walking by just sees part of a screen and not enough to be incriminating.

Come on girls, we've spent years hiding whole wardrobes and lingerie under our work outfits and whole lifestyles. We aren't going to get tripped up by a little browser window!

Searching, i would just let it pass without worry.

But for the other girls here, WoW, you should work for the CIA. You all seem to be able to cover your tracks quite well. So sad, It seems like it takes a lot of work to be in the closet. Lol

An Internet friend was telling me that he had written down an address on a notebook by his computer and his girlfriend (who was not living with him) walked by and said, What's this! PartyGuy.com???

He was stunned for a while and then said it was a link that some guys at work told him to check out.

The address was actually PantyGuy.com!!! Luckily, his handwriting is terrible!

It might be a blessing in disguise. Ignore it for now, he won't think anything of it unless you act guilty. But years from now if you want to come out. This incident and maybe a few other things that he might notice will make it not such a shock for him.

MY daughters learnt about my Mistressing little by little. first just starting with the fancy dress, dress ups explanation.

All join amature Theatrical groups where you might have to have your own "stage" make op and wigs and costumes. My ex husband had the cutest fairy ballet costume for a "faries at the bottom of the garden" song. ;)

Just one tip from me, never have your PC Monitor facing the door so people can sneak up on you!

On older windows operating systems there was the desktop icon on the task bar you could click to go back to the desktop. I can't work out how to do this on XP, I can put icons on the righthand side of the task bar, can find a shortcut to go back to the desktop!

Laura Jane,
On XP, you just need to press the the page ID down on your taskbar. On mine it says "Crossdresser Forums". Assuming you have no other active pages, it will take you back to your opening screen.

Then there is also setting the desktop screen saver to kick in in one minute, with a password.

Large convex mirrors properly mounted on each side of the flat panel display can provide (with your forward vision) 360 degree coverage. Then, if anyone approaches, I can just hit the power off button and, by the time they get close enough to see, I am simply staring at a blank screen. :p

Of course, explaining why you spend a lot of time staring at blank computer screens is the more tricky part.

How about laser beams, sirens and a large dog? Or am I being a little over the top? :p

Now I have got that silly little thing off my chest let me say that I do not have a problem with someone seeing what web page I am on as I live alone. But when I did I made the BBC my home page and all you need to do is click on the home button and there you are. As safe as the BBC.

Danny,
It's not a good idea to just hit the power button to turn off your computer. Better to follow one of the other suggestions.

Laura, there is, or should be, an icon in the quick launch part of your task bar (just right of the "start" button) that says "Show Desktop". It may be in the "drop down" section. If so you can always move it so that it's always right there handy.

The fastest and easiest way to show the destop on Windows XP is to do a WindowKey-D combo. The WindowKey is the key between Ctrl and Alt that has the microsoft logo on it.

Well I never  Excellent, not that I'll never need to use this quick method but it'll give me something to do if things are quiet. Thanks Grace. :)

Took some of your advise to heart. Large convex mirror.
Motion sensor hooked up to a laser beam set to disintergrate anything that come between me and this forum. Later this week comes the electric fence. Now all i have to do is explain why I'm doing all this just to check my e-mail and read the sports news.

Although I like the logo, I cannot do a quick check-up of the threads on the site while I'm at work because the logo is so obvious it makes it impossible, because I'm in a massive open plan office.

Maybe it could be toned down for the threads a little a just kept so massive on the homepage.

Rosesforum has a similarly sized logo, but not everyone knows what Roses is, so it simpler to work with.

Natasha - you can always get a "syndication" client to just give you the headlines of new posts to any site or sites. The most popular format is RSS ("Real Simple Syndication"). There are some free downloads out there.

A while back they were talking about a display that consisted of an eyepiece through which you just stared at a blank wall. Nobody can see but you.

I wonder what happened to the concept? Maybe some PR type should have listened more closely to R&D.
