Has anyone scratched or wounded herself and subsequently found herself wondering if there might be scarring?

I got scratched up but good as a result of a silly "make-yourself-dizzy-and-fall-on-your-arse-like-a-drunken-bum game" that my brother's girlfriend was showing us. Well, I messed with the wrong bush. In a nutshell, I fell in it. lol

I've got nasty four inch long scratches on my arms and two ugly gouges. On is on my arm and the other on my neck. The gouges aren't enormous, but they're certainly located in unstrategic places as far as looks are concerned.

The whole experience got me wondering if GGs feel like that, if they worry about getting scarred, they feel like their skin has to be perfect all the time. Hmmm, I suppose they probably do.

What do you think? New understanding or "paranoia self destroya".

PS -- I thought I'd posted this earlier but I don't see it up on the board. Apologies if this gets posted twice! :bonk:

Hugs,
Lisa

Yes, we worry about scarring.

A good way to lessen the chance of scarring is to rub vitamin E oil over the wound frequently.

Lily --

That would be funny! Well, the good news is that I'm not really embarassed about how it happened. Actually, I think it's a very funny story indeed.

Tekla --

Oh, poop! lol My post appeared in the wrong section?! D@mn, I wish I could go in and erase that!

To the moderators, my fault, my apologies!

According to my dermatologist, the best way to prevent scarring is to keep the wound MOIST, do NOT allow a scab to form. Use an ointment with antibiotics (prevents infection) and petroleum jelly (doesn't dry out).

Once the scar has formed, no manner of OTC 'cure all' will make it go away.

I get cut all the time and for paratid surgeory they cut from the top of my ear down along the jaw almost to my chin! Fun! So use "Scar Zone" or one of the other products and stay out of the sun! The cream will help fade and soften the scar over time. The sun on the other hand (yeah...5 fingers! Hehe) will acentuate the scar so if you have to use sun block!

It's much to late for me to start worrying about scarring. I've got too many to hide already, mostly from being a "wild child".
