Get those Tivos humming, tomorrow night's Queer Eye (http://www.bravotv.com/Queer_Eye/) features Miles, a 24-year-old transguy who's just moved from California to NYC.

Groovoi!

If you miss it Tuesday, Bravo repeats QE a couple times later in the week.

I think Miles should jog down to the local construction site and take a gander instead!

A bit more info here (http://www.planetout.com/entertainment/news/?sernum=1755&navpath=/entertainment/television/) as well as a video excerpt (http://www.outzonetv.com/video/queer_eye.php), with Miles and his roommate (apparently another transguy).

His voice needs a littel work,

He just needs Carson to accompany him at all times so that he sounds more manly... :D

Bravo to Bravo for bringing Miles on the show.

Obviously, given the nature of "Queer Eye" we weren't going to get an in-depth treatment of trans-ness, but I thought Miles did a good job of making some key points, with Fab Five acting as the "straight men" (if you'll excuse the pun) to pose the questions that viewers undoubtedly had.

Not unexpectedly, Miles was just as clueless about cooking, clothing and personal hygiene as the other guys on the show. OTOH, Miles roommate was a total metrosexual.

Bravo to Miles parents, born-again Christians who've accepted him, albeit with the sort of occasional (and understandable) greiving that I think is common in parents of trans folks.

And bravo to the Fab Five, who concluded the show with a message about how tolerance isn't enough, people need to be accepting of other people, even if they don't "get" them.

The message at the end was a nice touch...

Would you believe . . . I know those guys (Miles and his roommate, Auston)? It's true, they're part of my weekly support group. I remember they told us the show was being taped a few months ago and that it would air sometime in late summer or early fall, but I didn't realize it was this week. Anyway, I'm glad I caught it (thanks, Marlena). It was great! I wish I had been able to tape it, but my VCR died so I hope I can get a copy from the Bravo network.

I was proud of the Fab Five for asking intelligent and thoughtful questions, and not the usual array of stupid questions I've seen on other shows like Larry King and Oprah. And now I can say I know someone who has hugged all of them. :D

BTW, some of the guys on the Circle Line boat party were from my group too, so when they said the people at the party hadn't seen him since he started his transition, that wasn't entirely true (but not a big deal). It was so cool to see Miles and Auston get the royal treatment - they're very cool guys. It was also nice to see his family be so supportive since (as we all know), we don't always get that in our community.

BTW, it seems like QE is on a trans roll, this week's episode featured a guest appearance by Brini Maxwell (http://www.brinimaxwell.com/), the cult icon, who's like secret love child of Martha Steward of Donna Reed played by Ben Sander (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brini_Maxwell).

Although Brini's apparence was played completely straight, so I doubt many viewers realized they were watching a drag performer.

BTW, I met with my support group last night and Auston was there (don't know where Miles was). He said they've gotten lots of positive responses from the show and that someone wants to use the episode as an educational (trans) video.

We went to a gay bar we usually frequent after our meetings and a lot of the patrons recognized Auston from the show. They all wanted to talk to him, so he was very popular. We figure lots of people will be updating their blogs now to say they're friends with Auston (but I really am). :tongueout He said he got to hug all the Fab Five, so I told him I had to hug him 'cause he got to hug Kyan (my favorite). :heehee:

I'm so jealous. I love the fab five. They are so funny and sexy. Too bad I'm a girl  They would be a total gas to hang out with. It would be kinda cool if they would do a show involving a cd. What do ya think?

Yeah, I like that idea too - maybe someone can suggest it to them.
