Hey, does anyone else beside me get a cd "buzz" from T.V.'s Craig Ferguson, the actor/host? Geez, I've picked up many references that caught my attention. Now, it may be common knowledge and I'm just not in the loop, but methinks he might be one of us. Olivia

Seems to me that Brian Jones dressed pretty much out in the open. In an extreamly flamboyant moment in pop culture he was the most flamboyant of all. I did always think that Patrick Swazey was a bit too good at it in To Wong Foo, you don't learn to walk in heels like that overnight.

Craig Ferguson dressed as his mom on the Drew Carey show (If I remember correctly). And I once read that Drew Carey (a former Marine) used to dress from time-to-time. I don't know if it was for business or not. That's the problem -- how can you tell if it's done for effect or if the person likes to as we do?

I guess as Jon Lovitz would exclaim, "It's acting!!" LOL

Tell me if I'm crazy. A couple of weeks ago I was watching the T.V. show with Charlie Sheen in it. All of a sudden I had this wierd feeling. I think Charlie Sheen might be a cross dresser. Watching the show I see small feminen mannerisms and he constantly crosses his legs like a woman. Maybe this is the hidden reason for the break up with his wife. Has anyone else noticed this?

Geez, you folk should be writers for the tabloids. All this speculating about celebrities who may crossdress, and I wonder why. What does it matter? It would be a big deal if one of them came out of the closet and proudly proclaimed "I am a crossdresser," but all this supposing about people who, at most, are firmly hidden in their respective closets is beyond me.
I also wonder if there is a bit of wanting to out people here. If so -- shame!

I agree with Sharon, does it really matter which star dresses?

Me "out" Craig Ferguson? Yeah, right. That's pretty funny; who would've thought I could wield that sort of influence? Surely not me, lol. Olivia

I feel that if some male celeb, be that a film star, pop icon, or especially a sportsman were to come out and publicly state that they are CD this would help our cause greatly. I mean here someone of the younger generation who has mass appeal rather than some middle aged and proobaly fading type of my own age. I had great hopes when soccer start David Beckham both admtted to wearing his wife Victoria (Posh Spice) Adams' panties and was seen wearing a sarong but this didn't start a trend unfortunately. Maybe he is not well eough liked bu the world at large.
I remember when the famous Levis advert with Nick Kaymen in the laundry taking off his jeans and wearing the horrible Boxer Shorts under them revived interest in those hideous uncomfortable garments which up till then had been worn only by older men. If we could have an equivalent male iconic figure wearing women's panties in an advert or film that would be helpful but of course what would really break the mould would be for some sportsman or athlete (jock) who was well known and respected to come out and proudly tell the world that he is a CD.

I don't think they'd have sold as many pairs of 501's if Kamen had removed his jeans to reveal his matching thong, suspenders and stockings though.
It might happen, regarding the sportsman angle, but just look how few football players in the UK are openly gay - I can't think of any; the only one that springs to mind was ex-Liverpool player Justin Fashanu, who of course ended up topping himself after becoming involved with an underage boy. There were rumours about Graeme le Saux for years - Robbie Fowler famously provoked him by bending over and showing him his backside - but even after their retirement, very few if any seem to come out. It just seems to me that the general public's view of crossdressing or homosexuality doesn't fit with the perceived expectation of what a sportsman should be, and coming out would almost certainly make them the subject of derision from both fans and even their own team-mates.
IIRC, David Beckham never actually admitted to wearing Posh's knickers, it was something that she said on a TV show and later retracted. I remember the sarong furore though...oh my god, it's a man but he appears to be wearing a skirt, hold the front page!:(

I agree with Sharon, but I also have to wonder if this doesn't actually hurt our "cause". I can't shake this nagging feeling that this game (and I use that word without any negative connotation) only helps reinforce stereotypes about what a CD is or isn't. How in the world are we ever going to be seen as "just people" when we question what other people do? "Ooh, look at him, I wonder if he's a CD?" How about we just say ooh, look at that nice top he's wearing?
Bah, I hate it when language can't succinctly encapsulate my thoughts and feelings. If anybody can say this better than I can (and without flaming please) then please do.

You know, what I think the speculation is really about is that celebrities always intrigue us, for myriad reasons, and that we look for some sort of connection or "similarity" to the celebs. It makes them more "human" and in scale with us, the "great unwashed", to know that yes, they enjoy crossdressing like we do.
"Hey! They are like us!!" It's not idol worship; it's kinship with our "idols".

I like to watch crime documentaries on TV. I did see 2 cases where the perpetrators, one a murderer and one a big time bank robber, were also CDers. Neither was dressed during the commission of the crimes, but, none the less, it's not good publicity. Kind of flies in the face of the image we try to portray.....

I think you are right Olivia about Craig Ferguson. I have a clip of an interview he did with Jennifer Love Hewitt and they were talking about Hanes Perfect Panties. Near the end of the clip she says, "I could give you some panties." Then he said, "How do you know I am not wearing any already?" If you want the clip I can send it to you.

Well, we have the likes of Eddie Izzard, RuPaul, Dennis Rodman, various reality TV "stars", Alexis Arquette, to name but a few.
On a slightly different note, it may just be me, but I do not feel particularly encouraged by the idea of crossdressing become a fashion trend. For me, CD'ing goes deeper than just the clothes we wear, and if it suddenly becomes popular for all men to wear women's clothing for fashion reasons, irrespective of whether they identify themselves as a TV or not, then this won't exactly help the cause of the CD community because the wearing of women's clothes by men won't exclusively remain in the domain of "CD'ism" any more. My desire to wear women's clothes isn't born out of any desire to follow fashion, and I don't want my own desires reduced to nothing more than the latest trend. Put simply, we are not, nor ever should be, the "new black". We are much more than that. I want to be recognised and acknowledged as a crossdresser, not as a sheep who who is merely jumping on some kind of fashion wagon. I am different, and I am extremely proud of that.
Yeah, and I'm Mother Teresa!
"I'm not gonna wear these panties.......the hell I'm not !" :heehee:
