When do men get the urge to crossdress.
Is it a sexual fantasy only, for a man to just want to dress in womens under when having sex or is this person still hiding in the closet.

The urge to crossdress begins when I wake up, and often continues into my dreams. It isn't just a sexual fantasy, as I have dressed since a young child.
What do you mean by hiding in the closet?

i believe the general thought is , cross dressers dont , transvestites do.
Neither has much to do with being in the closet.

Sorry I thnk u are picking me up wrong. I'm an ex of what I think is a crossdresser.
I don't know when he started but I know when I found out. Last year. What I am trying to find out is when the urge to crossdress begins - he is 34.
He told me it is a sexual fantasy, I suppose Im just trying to find out if he is a crossdresser or if he just likes sex wearing womens lingerie???
Sorry I'm so confused and I think its coming across

Well you are new, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt...and sorry to pick apart your post, but it does sound terribly confusing.
I suppose the first thing that springs to my mind when I read your post was..."why is the girl concerned how/why/what her 'ex' is doing." I mean if you are no longer involved with the person romantically why does it all matter now? Maybe you can enlighten us.
As for now knowing when he started...well that certainly might clear things up if you ask him directly if this is a burning question you want answered.
If you ask when do most cd's start....you will see answers that might be as young as age 3 to as old as age 80. I mean this can happen at any point in a person's life. I used to wonder why cd's would start later in life, but have come to realize that it does not matter "when" but that they hopefully have some level of self acceptance and in their minds and hearts that moment to start expressing it via dressing action has now begun.
As for your other question....well if he is wearing lingerie made for ladies...that is cross-dressing isn't it? It mean it is clothing that was bought in the ladies section. I have known many men who "crossdress" who seem to have a real issue with being labeled a "crossdresser", so who knows how he feels unless you ask him. I mean there are cd's who don't care for make up or wigs or ever leaving their house fully dressed....there are guys just into pantyhose or just shoes. They are still part of this group, no matter how fringe they might be.
Regardless of what "level" of crossdresser or transgendered person he is....the point is that he has this need. How much or how little he chooses to expresss it might make him a fetish dresser....might make him a crossdresser or he might even have deeper feelings which he is not acknowledging at this time.
Look forward to seeing yoru reply.

I understood Minnie completely.
The urge starts at different ages for different people.
For me, I was 6 or 7, and didn't actualy get a chance to dress until I was 10.
Is it a sexual fantasy only, for a man to just want to dress in womens under when having sex or is this person still hiding in the closet.
Again, everyone is different. Many do it as sexual fantasy. However, if they are having sex while dressed enfemm, they are no longer in the closet.
I reckon what you really want to know is, are they in self denial, and suggest they are not transgendered (CD/TV/TS). Some may be, yet some may dress for the sexual fantasy alone.

I agree with Donna T Most, CD's / TV's dress for their own needs, be is sexual or otherwise, I have been dreesing since my teens starting with small amounts right up to a some years ago, when as now, I dress fully in womens cloths as often as I wish. Is it sexual ? sometimes yes, sometimes no, one thing is for sure we all love the Mirror so that makes us (well most) narcissistic, we all like to look the look! I don't think there is any one answer to your question? there are many. For every person you ask? you may get a different answer.

I began at age six or so, I know others who began at that age, some later. One size never fits all.

Who said crossdressing has anything to do with underwear? Who said it is a sexual fantasy? I suggest doing some reasearch before making such asumptions.
Myself I'm just tired of same 2 decade old fashion of baggy tasteless clothes.

I take offense at this portion of your post. You say so much as wearing shoes would make one a crossdresser? Let me get out my sewing machine and sew a frilly dress and I'll put tag on it that says mens. ( I do not wear dresses ) High heels, and makeup were orginally for men, guess most all women are crossers no matter how fringe they may be.

let me see, i started at around 8-10. with help from my grandmother, but when i joined the military all that stopped. the urge came back when i got out and got married. i thought it was a sexual thing but when i would dress to have sex, well it was not the same it had no feeling, no desire, but when i dressed alone and just looked at myself in the mirror and gazed at what i had created..... i could not stand myself..... then it was not about sex... and you will get as many opinions as there are entries.... so good luck in what you are trying to find, but don,t look for a clear cut answer because " THERE IS NONE ".......:hugs:

Erm... Sometimes I wake up and want to dress. Sometimes I come home from work and think - I wanna dress.
All depends really, but when I get going I tend to have spells of always dressing but then times of little genderbending activities.

I was 12 when the great day came when I wore a pair of my big sister's panties for the first time , that's 41 years ago now. I now realise that panties and other female clothing had attractions for me before that age but that is when I mark as my Epiphany into the world of Crossdressing.

Started at 8, before I knew what sex was.....and right after my sister was born...Mom always said she wanted a daughter, told me many many times. So sexual fantasys have nothing to do with my dressing...
It's more than an urge it's a driving force....that peaks and wains but is always there lately and grows stronger every day..

Minnieme, it's a good bet your X had the "urge" to crossdress before he even met you. Whether he carried it out, only he knows. And, if you're thinking of reconciling with him, remember, this desire isn't gonna go away.

I am sorry if I called this ladies ex-boyfriend a crossdresser at a place we call *Crossdressers.com*......opps....
But I can guratee that I will think of other names to call you...if "crossdresser" is one you find offensive.
Hey you can call me a crossdresser too....I dont' find it an offensive term. Not sure anyone will buy it here...but it is worth a shot!

I was three when I put on my mother's nylons and patent leather stilleto pumps. I can still remember that amazing scent of patent leather. It has been heaven ever since.
We cannot not answer anything regarding CDing in general terms. We are each unique.

As far back as I can remember. Is that 3, or 4? Somewhere back there.
One thing to remember, though, is that we are all different.

I was pre sexual libido when I thought... 'Hold on, I should be like them (ie the girls)'. I didn't even know what the difference was between girl's and boys. I wasn't an early dresser though, but was fascinated by men appearing as women on TV and film. They appeared to me to be normal... sounds weird, but hey ho! :)
When I hit 13 and puberty started I developed biologically between two stools... Male with female attributes. I really got bullied and laughed at, but to be honest it didn't have a major impact on me. I tried on a couple of bras as I developed, but it was never a determined entry into dressing; that came when I was 16. When I finished my exams and was suddenly free of childhood I wandered down to Marks & Spencers and bought two complete outfits and Lisa was released from her box...
Bet you're all really bored now ;)

When do men get the urge to crossdress.
As a teen, I tried on discarded pantihose a few times, to see what it was like. Now that I think about it more, I recall that a few times I kept some pairs for a week or two, and I recall that the wearing occasions were usually centered around, ummm, certain forms of pleasureable relief. But at that age, I didn't think of it as crossdressing.
I don't recall anything of significance for the ~25 years after that.
Recognized crossdressing started for me about 2 years ago, at about age 43, and within 3 months I went from not thinking "crossdressing" at all, to wearing skirts and blouses in public. There might be a correlation to some medication I started a few months earlier.
In picking through my memories, there might have been some incidents in about the 2 years previous, especially having to do with trying on my SO's bras. That was linked in my mind to thinking about how I'd like her to look; 2 years, at most 3 years, is the timeframe for me thinking about how womens' clothes would look on me and discovering that I liked actually wearing them as clothes.
