I got a little carried away with the Coco Madmoiselle Chanel last night (I even used it as deodorant when I was sweating on the dance floor). I took a long shower but that didn't decrease the smell by much. Question: is there a trick to getting rid of the smell quickly? I'm having dinner with my Mother-in-Law tonight!

How to put this delicately, often the lingering smell is up your nose, not on you!

But if you really are worried, mask it with a stronger smell. Cut up some onions or slap on a powerful colonge like Brut! :D

Good answer.

If a bath doesn't do the trick, a good dose of masculine cologne should take care of things quite well.

um, only soap and water I think. if its on your clothes wash them and also but new ones on. Also do not put those clothes near the clothes you are going to wear tonight cos they will smell of the perfume.

I think I got that right

Wet wipes and a good body wash in the shower. Never get any comments at work and I wear perfume every night. Ericka

Lemon juice, or anything in the citric acid family, will probably counteract any lingering fragrance. I would suggest sponging it on on and letting it 'set' for few minutes before you shower. You might also get the same results with rubbing alcohol. As others have mentioned here, it's possible that there actually isn't any lingering fragrance and what seems to be could very well be simply in your own nostrils.

I don't understand why you would want to get rid of such pleasant aroma as perfume. If a comment is made about it just say you were sampling new aftershaves at the store and you got carried away. If you must mask the aroma, try Drakkar Noir. It'll hide all other smells for a mile around and women love it.

My gg friends explained to me that, in general, cd's apply way too much perfume when doing their thing. They recommended to me that when applying perfume , which I wear whenever I go out, to put a dab or spray a small amount on a cotton ball, then dab the cotton ball where ever you want the perfume, ie neck, back of knees, wrists, etc. They told me that this small amount is sufficient. Guys are used to applying cologne or aftershave with a large amount in the palm of the hand. Perfume is not applied this way.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I took the common theme of them all, masking the smell with another stronger odor, and took a long hard run at midday here in Florida (scorching sun 95 degrees) and sweated about two gallons. Then I swam in the pool. The smell was totally gone. Hated to see it go though--such a great scent. Dinner with my Mother-In-Law went fine.

vinegar works very well, followed by a shower of course.

Wine is also a good solution... Yes, WINE!!!

if you pour enough wine in your mother-in-law's glass at dinner, the next day she won't remember her name, much less your perfume!!! :lol2:

I did the samething last night with my perfume. I washed up today and was driving to the mall and noticed I still had the fragrence on me.

When I got to the mall to have lunch and shop I discovered there were so many other scents waffting around that I figured noone would be able to pinpoint what I smelled like.

Glad to hear dinner went well.
