Hello all,
I am new to this forum although I have lurked for some time. I am sharing something today that I have never shared with anyone aside from my wife.
I have been an on again off again cross dresser since I was a teenager, which is more than twenty years. Many times I have thrown away all of my things vowing to quit, but I found that I could not deny this side of me for long.
My wife did not know about my cross dressing when we got married as I was in that, “I am never going to do that again” phase. My wife and I have been married for almost sixteen years and she has been great about this. Not only has she been accepting, but she has also been understanding, supportive, and encouraging. She has helped me with outfits and with makeup; however we cannot seem to get the look just right. Now my wife thinks it is time to consider taking me out in public as Michelle. Before I do this, I want to be sure that I can pass. What resources for clothing, deportment, and makeup can you recommend?
You see many things on the Internet, but a lot of them sound shady. I would like the opinions of some of you who have been doing this for some time. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Passing is over rated. You should try to look your best though. Your wife can probably help you select clothing that will help you to blend in with other women wherever you happen to go. If not, spend some time at the mall or any other place there are a lot of women and take note of what is being worn. There are some videos available that can give pointers on deportment. The best way to improve makeup skills is to go to a makeup store, such as MAC, Merle Norman, Ulta, Sephora, or a major department store and get a professional makeover. The makeup artists are usually quite good at explaining what they are doing, so you can repeat it. After all, if you like the results and can use the products, they will have you as a long term customer.

Phoebe is right on with this. Its not about "passing" as much as having self-confidence;has to do more with comportment and mannerisms I think. :2c: Anyway, someone who I've had a good experience w/ is Denae Doyle (I'm sure others on this site can vouch for her). Her site is www.femimage.com. Very friendly and professional .... works on helping you find your femme look inside and out. Definitely worth a look.
Hope that helps!

also shellie...practice practice practice...check out my thread on the picture gallery about last saturday nite...i learned that all from this forum(check out the beauty club and all the links)...trying on stuff that works for me...and lots of trial and error...ESPECIALLY WITH THE WIG!!! the right wig is so helpful
you are blessed with the help of a real woman and she should be able to help you lots and lots
i think i look pretty good dressed but in no way do i pass, on the other hand, i've gone out and i'm very rarely made to feel bad and i think you're passing if your out there and not getting lots of evil eyes...if you go out with a gg then you are golden in my mind as long as you dress age appropriately
there is also a website called femmefever and the woman who runs it is named karen and she sells a makeup dvd that i found very informative
have fun!!! and dont be afraid to ask!!!!!!! i lurked for months before i posted !

I too, have been lurking. I have not been actively cross dressing for over a year and not before that for a couple of years. But today I went to my scheduled appointment with the Merle Norman Consultant and on the way bought a bra and tried it on with the SA Linda's encouragement.
I'm at home with all 20 nails painted with Sally Hanson Really Red.
I loved today.

Hi Shellie,
I say go for it but why not make a day of it? Hair and makeup, nails the works then step out into the sunshine. Works wonders for a girl's confidence.
Good luck
:hugs:

ps. Have a good time and dont worry, it sounds like your wife will run interference for you. Nothing like having a good girl on your wing. :D

My wife love to do my make up and clothes. It really is nice to share something we both like.

dont know about tips but youare very lucky. Go out at night to the gay areas. Mostly it is confidence that helps you pass. you can build confidence by being with people who dont care what you are into as long as you are not impacting on them.

I would think going out w/your wife is a huge benefit. I know when I'm out I don't really notice 2 women as much as a single person walking or shopping. Good luck and let us know how it turns out for you two.

Passing+? Hey if your wife thinks you look alright and you like the look then you pass, and theres tons of places on the net to buy things.

Thank you for all of the kind responses. I am glad that I found a place where I can share without fear of ridicule. I look forward to interacting with everyone in the future.

I can't believe that I wear women's clothes but I love it. Phoebe is right about passing being overrated. I try to look my best and learn from others. Being out there in public is a thrill.

You are one lucky girl! Do treasure that wife of yours!
Anyway, I figure that even GGs have off days when they feel they're not looking their best. I don't think you need to worry about it.
Hugs,
Lisa
