... in terms of sizing? I recently purchased three sets of matching bra/g-string/brief lingiere all in size 16 from Target.

The undies fit nicely, but the bras are just a little tight. They do fit and I can wear them all day, but it'd be nice if the bras were available in size 18 as I think they would wear better and be a little more comfortable.

I did ask an assistant if the bra came in a larger size, but she said size 18's were considered the 'bigger girl' range and that the matching lingiere sets I wanted didn't go up to size 18 at all.

I usually just order mine from a catalog and they are fine, unless the company sends the wrong size and then I send them back. It depends on where and in what country the stuff is made in. Some of the people making them can't read patterns it seems. My Mother-in-law used to make them and she said when they started farming the work out to other countries, the quality just wasn't there. This was, of course to save money making the stuff in "sweat shops". Ericka Kay

Claire, Matching sets are just that--Matching sets. What you bought was a matching set--both the same size. They are not coordinates. Coordinates are articles that are made in different sizes that are styled to coordinate with one another. In some catalogs, matching suits are sold. These have skirt and jacket in the same size. There are many places that now sell coordinates for suits. Generally, we as cd's, are not the same size top to bottom. There are many gg's out there like that. If you want to put together a coordinating set of lingerie, you might have to go a bit more upscale that Target.

In addition to having different parts men's bodies are different from women's.
Men have broader shoulders compared to their hips while women typically have larger hips. What was designed to fit women's bodies just won't work on ours. I've been able to find matching bras and panties seperately that fit.

Hi Clare,
Thats the problem we have. I have just been out today to buy my fella his birthday present for next week. He was with me so I know its not much of a surprise, but I wanted to buy him a suit, skirt and jacket. We found a really lovely one in Asdas. I thought when we were buying it that the skirt looked alittle on the generous size so I went for a size smaller than usual and got a 14 skirt and 18 Jacket. The jacket fits a treat, the skirt is miles too big. So there you go, we all have the same probs. Altho I do understand that when buying lingerie, the set normally comes as the set, so you can't seperate them, atleast I can with this suit but its still abit annoying. Ive told him that from now on he's going into the changing rooms with me because atleast that way it saves us another journey.
Take care

Most men have smaller hips than chests and no waist, that's just the way nature builds us... Some women have that problem too, but standard fashion is made for the majority Hips and chest about the same and smaller waist...

Some are men lucky enough to have a more feminine body, just naturaly.

For me I have to buy skirts and jackets separately. Fortunately, many mail order catalogs carry them as separate items. I buy my skirts in size 14 and my tops in size 18.

Likewise for my underwear: brief size is "Large" and brassiere 38/C or 38D, depending in the brand (note no padding).

Buying dresses is more of a problem as it the top fits, the botom is far too wide... There it is only via trial and error that I can find some that look OK on me...

Even the so called matching sets don't always work for the GG's. My wife finds that either the jacket or skirt fits in a set but not both. Its not uncommon for a women to be a 12 up top and 14 below for for example.

The cashiers are usually very good at spotting a mixed set and usually won't allow it to be sold that way.

An old trick is to buy two sets at different times of each size and then take back the odd sized pieces claiming that it was bought that way and was not noticed at the time.

I purchased a couple of bras from Target, very pretty but did not fit as well as the nicer (and more expensive) bras I have from the big department stores. They seemed to be a size too small.

Yes Dina, We saw this scam tried many times when I worked at the store. You might get away with it once at a store, but you will be nailed the next time you try it in the same store. Store managers and SA's have long memories on scams attempted. Remember, as I stated in another thread, most stores now require you to give all ID info and show photo ID when returning an item. Some are also photocopying the photo ID and attaching it to return slips. These are kept on file and reviewed to catch scammers on returns.

This scam is tried in shoe stores all the time. If you hwo shop for shoes remember, the SA checks the box to ensure that both shoes are the same size. This is to preclude customers switching sizes in the store and to ensure that the shoes were checked when a scam return is tried.
