Hey girls!

Just thought i'd share the experience i had at work today.

Was speaking to a female colleague (who's had her suspicions about me! lol) earlier today and i was just mentioning that i was going clubbing this weekend. Anyway, the GG asked where i was going. I replied by saying the name of the club and the fact that it was a Gay, Lesbian & Transgendered venue and was great fun!

The next thing she said startled me to say the least. She said (without hesitation) "Are you going dressed up?" GULP!!! lol I replied "What do you mean?" (in an innocent way) She replied "Are you going in drag?" Surprised i didn't get embarrassed but i replied " No, i don't do drag" The girl then quickly followed with "..but you're going dressed up, right?" Without hesitation on my part i said "yes i am actually" GULP AGAIN!!! lol Her response was "well i have no problem with that" WOOHOOO!!! Outed at last!!!

I've soooo wanted to be out at work since joining the company 6 mths ago and many people have had their suspicions for a long time. At the end of the day i just want to be myself as all of us can relate to.

Anyway, i hope i haven't bored anyone mentioning this and it would be great to hear of other people's experiences.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Hugs from Sara xxxx

Isn't it great to have a freind at work who knows. Now you have someone to girl talk with, a little female bonding. I have to agree, ask her if she wants to go with you. A fun time will be had by all.

Sara that is great news. I am always pleasantly surprised when a woman is ok with crossdressing. And judging by your picture, you probably look great when you go out.

You go girl you have more guts than me. My boss asked me about 2 weeks ago if I was wearing a bra. I looked at him and asked if it realy mattered what I do on my time is my businness. My underwear is my bussiness but if it bothers you I will not wear it at work. He just said ok and walked away.
The subject has never been brought up again. All that happened was a dress code notice was put on message board. I just need to make sure I wear my uniform. Not the greatest reaction but I still have my job and my boss is still talks to me, is very nice and treates me the same as before.

Girls,

Thanks so much for your lovely replies. It is good news with the GG at work. We're not overly pally with each other but we do get on. I'm quite certain that word has got around and i'm sure they'll be no surprise.

What gave her suspicions in the first place? It's always cool when you have a GG friend to share the secret with.

Sara,

That's fantastic, you must be over the moon! I know how wonderful it feels when you come out to someone and find they are accepting. Once word gets round (and it will), maybe you'll get some of the girls wanting to go out clubbing with you -- now that would be cool!

Hugs,
Marla xx

Congrats!!! Nothing better than taking another step!! Hope it relieves some of the mental pressure that comes with the worry of what happens if/when co-workers find out. Just hope she is selective in who she discusses it with before you make your own decision how much further you wissh to reveal yourself to others at work.....have fun at the club!!!!!

So what's the next step? Dressing at work?

Only if you need to - with plenty of preparation and warning for your colleages. :)

(London?? Where were you going? I'll be in that scene soon enough. Argh!! Can't wait!! :D)

Outed at work, welcome to the club. Doesn't it feel get to be the person you truely are. I wanted to so much wear my new jeans and top to work today. So I comprimised wore mascara and pink stay color by Maybelline, eyeliner would have been too much so I didn't do that. But should have done my eyebrows, it just gets easier with every passing day.

Good to see you took advantage of the situation. It seems like it's worked out reasonably well, although I gather word will spread through your workplace based on your last post? It's hard to anticipate what sort of response you'll get on a spur of the moment discusssion with the GG like the one you had.

It seem all is going well so far for you. Happy times for you Sara.

Hi Laura, the GG in question had originally commented on how long my nails were when i first started at the job and most recently i made a comment about MAC make up. The GG replied by saying that her bf would never know the makes of cosmetics! lol

Wonederful :) Which club, out of curiosity?

Pink Punters in Milton Keynes, UK, hun.

Thanks for the additional replies, girls. It's a big weight off my shoulders knowing that someone knows about my girly side. I think my secret to success is just being myself and not feeling nervous about being open. I often comment about the clothes the girls are wearing in the office, saying how nice their hair looks and other things. They always say 'thanks'.

Speak soon, girls!

I can't believe I missed this thread. This is exciting stuff, and I'm really happy for you Sara  You can bet your bottom dollar the other GGs know about it...or soon will do. :D

I agree with Marla, can you imagine what it would be like if you could get them to come clubbing with you at Pink Punters? Either way, I bet you feel like a big weight has been lifted off your shoulders and that now you can maybe join in conversations and make compliments without fear of them wondering why you're so knowledgeable about girly stuff. Hopefully if one of the GGs is OK with it, they all will be.

Good luck

Hey girls!

Got an update to give you further to this original thread being posted last month.

Had noticed that the girl i had admitted 'dressing up' to previously, was looking at some high heels on her computer (i sit behind her at work) Anyways, i just blurted out "Hey Elsa, seen anything you like?" She replied by asking me to come and have a look with her with a friendly smile. Anyways, whilst trying to make out we were working lol i said that i could never walk in such high heels! She said "awww, you'd get used to it!"

Anyways, cutting to the chase and after making comments about different shoes, i said "have a look at this pic of me when i'm out" (mobile phone comes out) The girl couldn't believe it was really me and said i looked amazing! lol As you can imagine, i was on cloud nine! She said that she always saw men dressed as women as being just that. Not feminine! However, she said i looked lovely. I opened up by telling her how long i'd been dressing up n that and she seemed genuinely interested.

After i showed her the pic i started visibly shaking...OMG!!! lol Get a grip on yourself! lol I felt sooo nervous then! I even said to the girl "Look at me shaking like a leaf!" She went "awww...."

Well, i am truly out to at least one person at work and it's such a relief! I hope i can get more involved in her girly convos now!

Anyways, i'll stop going on now! lol Anyone got any similar coming out at work stories to share?
