I am a deeply closeted very private life-long CD'er. I prefer the classy conservative style. I am, of course, a great admirer of GG's as well as quality CD'ers, many who have photos posted on the web, who dress in my style.

My question is: As I rarely see any "tarty" girls in real life, why do so many CD'ers dress that way?

I just like to dress as the girl next door type. Never have dressed tarty.

perhaps the word want-a-be fits it best. Remember we are trying to be something we are not and this maybe is an extension of those desires. (HUG)Felicia

A guess.

1.) The tarty look seems to be the "essence of feminity" for some of us. We are males finally ;).
2.) The tarty look seen as an overemphasis of feminity is the most effective way to cover our own masculinity (a bit like a dazzle-grenade). (It's by far harder to achieve a feminine look with a shirt, pants, and flats if you have a male body and male facial features)
3.) Being closeted without an true acceptance of oneself, easily might lead to an accumulation of the need to be feminine, which "best" is released by an overfeminine style.
(I am sure a lot that like the tarty look wouldn't want it on a 24/7 basis, but for rare special occasions only (if ever))
4.) Sometimes the tarty look is just fun, as it is probably for some GGs too.

I think there are two answers to that...

1. There are many girls who dress tarty, often beyond the bounds of what is socially acceptable or even decent. But they only dress like that in private, or for pictures for their friends (in other words, the entire internet community :heehee: ). They're not trying to look like real women; they're showing you what their ideal woman might wear in the bedroom.

2. There are a few girls who dress tarty for parties or nightclubs. They dress that way because they know from experience that's how most people dress at those parties. And those outfits do make eyecatching pictures! :drooling:

You should take into account, that at least a part of them do it because they know it pleases men in the first instance (so called "feminine wiles"). So, it's not their image of an ideal women, it is, what they think (mostly true), the men's ideal image of a woman.
(I assume it is fun sometimes to play with male instincts ;))

Good question....I'm also into classier dressing because it fits my body better but a bit of a naughty look once in a while is fun....and that's what its all about...at least for me!!

Its kind of why I had 3 personas for a while. Karren was the classy dresser, Kandi was the tart, and Kari was the blonde...but maintenance of the 3 and their photo albums and 360 sites got to be to much so I killed them off...well except karren. Lol

Some of us need a chance to catch up with a "phase" we missed out on.

I must admit I like a bit of the flirty look on ocassion and also a glimpse of petti-coat or slip hem does wonders. In fact, I think a bit of "up-skirt" action can be wonderful. I do it often in my mirror as the girl I'm in love with!! Just as long as there is nothing pornographic.

Thanks for your kind responses.

Go into any town or city in the UK at the weekend and there are plenty of 'tarty' looking girls going from bar to bar. When we go back to the UK now we can't believe girls go out, in winter, in the shortest of skirts and briefest of tops and they don't feel the cold. I think many CDs dress that way because it is supposedly gives a more outward appearance on femininity, or they are just following the lead from the GGs they see around town.

There are plenty of "tarty GG's" out there most of us see them daily.

Perhaps one of the reasons we as crossdressers often go more tarty is because we find that look is more visually feminine. That is not to say a classy conservative style can't be feminine.

Like many of the 12.5 lbs girls in High school we are often influanced by mass media as to what is the feminine ideal.

just a thought,

Susan

I have often thought it was related to age, and how much you dress. If you think about it at 30 years old must of us have only been dressing "Fully" for 15 years or so, our female persona is still a teenager and dresses accordingly if you only dress infrequently or in private you don't "age" very quickly however if you dress often or start going out your style soon starts catching up with your real age and you tone things down a bit. As with teenage girls we learn the difference between tarty and sexy/attractive.

Well that's my theory and I'm sticking to it! :D

In my experience, a good percentage of CD's primary reason for dressing is because it's a sexual turn-on, and they aren't particularly concerned with dressing appropriately for their age and/or size, and just wear whatever gives them the biggest sexual thrill.:2c:

When I was younger I tended to dress more tarty because it was all so new. Now I dress more conservatively and even have a couple of old lady dresses I like.

When I first started CDins I bought my stuff at Victoria's Secret. Then my wife got involved in buying my stuff and did most of her shopping at K Mark and Wal Mart. You can get some pretty nice stuff and these places at a much better price. The things she brings home for me a usually more age appropriate and for me that is actually an improvement.

Personally I am more into the classy conservative look (check my avatar, lol).

But tarty can be fun once in a while, if I am trying to show off to friends or maybe just want to fulfill some sexual fantasies.
