Hi folks, I'm looking for a plaid pleated skirt, like a uniform skirt, not a mini. The only ones I've been able to find is at Younkers or now Macy's. It was a Ralph Loren at $180. Too much for my money. Does anyone have any ideas, other than vintage on ebay. Please let me know...BJ

Other than vintage Ebay?

Thrift shops perhaps, or try google-ing it. Google can solve all of life's problems.

Hmm, can you be more specific. There are all kinds of pleated skirts of various lengths. Some are plad or tartan.

Color preference, length, what kind of uniform?

Like a Catholic school girl?

If you are looking for an at- or slightly above-the-knee skirt, then your best bet would be to go to a school uniform outfitter such as Dennis or Ibiley. Not all school uniform skirts are super-mini. They make up to pretty large sizes because we all know that kids come in all shapes. A couple of the uniform stores also make counterpart uniforms for adults. Good news is that the pricing can be VERY reasonable.

Why not make it yourself? I would.

But if you don't have a sewing machine or the "know how", look in the yellow pages in your area for a seamstress.

That way, you can pick the colors you want, and have it whatever length you desire.

I've always thought things I made myself were special. No chance of meeting someone else in the mall with one exactly like it.
