I would love to do a wax job on my back chest and legs. I would like to know from those of you who have had it done DOES IT HURT. I am currently using Veet to get rid of my hair, but this don't last for long before the prickly bits start to repear. So how long does waxing last?

One of my favorite subjects. Waxing does not hurt. It can be a bit uncomfortable the first time. Be sure to find an experienced tech for this. It can be painful if done wrong. I can't tell you much about home use products, I go to the salon every six weeks. I suppose I could go every five weeks if I wanted to but I let everything get a bit fuzzy during the last week. I've been getting waxed for abput a year now and I can notise a decrease in the amount of hair that grows back, and that which does isn't at all prickly, but rather soft.
Remember with waxing you're pulling the hair out of the root ball and hopefull the root ball also to completely kill it. With shaving you're cutting the shaft of hair and as a result it will feel prickly.
Think of your lawn, when you mow it the ends of the grass blades are cut rather than uprooted.

I am with Phyliss here on this one.It really doesn't hurt<that much> and the feeling afterwards is really great.Another great plus is that you don't have to go through the shaving ritual
Best of luck with it

I had shaved for the better part of 6 years, and finally decided to try the home waxing route. In my experience, it was not painful to think of. I used the No heat Gel which is very sticky, worked fine for me.

I am trying to get the courage up to go to the salon and get my back, chest, legs done.

I prefer the waxing over shaving. Less time messing with it, and much nicer feel when your done.

I had my arms done for the first time yesterday, it was a little different but didn't hurt as bad as the eyebrows. Feels nice to rub your arms with no grain from shaving.

They may advertise it, but I seriously doubt it will happen. Men's beards are composed of hairs that are much coarser, and more closely packed than hair anywhere else. I would expect even if it did work there would be bleeding and much pain if it were possible.

I have heard members say they have done it before, but when I tried it as an experiment once, and this was with an esthetician who had many many years of waxing experience, it did not go well - only a few hairs were pulled, and mostly the wax stuck because it took too much pull pressure to yank out all those coarse, closely packed hairs.....

And for the thread starter, waxing hurts at first but it does get more bearable each time :)

Walmart does sell several different ones. The one I go to has regular heated wax type, no heat gel, etc.

Uh, yes, waxing does hurt. Depends on the body part. I've had it all waxed, I mean all (except face), and some parts are a 2/10 in terms of pain, some are pretty much an 8/10, especially if it's been quite a while since waxing.

Try taking a couple of tylenol/advil an hour before (or vicodin if you have any).

Is it worth it? Every body has varying rates of regrowth. You might have three completely smooth weeks before anything starts coming back. For me, I get about a week before the first fuzzies start coming back. That said, what comes back is much sparser initially than after a shaving or nair/veeting.

And, then there is cost. I never do mine at home, so end up at a salon. To save money, try the local beauty school, which runs about 50% of what a regular salon should cost. Even though a beauty school is less expensive, count on at least $140 to do your whole body, about $80 more if you want a Brazilian (only go to a true pro for this). So, unless you're made of money, special occasions only for me (i.e. girlfriend out of town for extended period. . .).
