Where I am at on my journey.

Last Thursday I filed the papers with our county court to legally change my name and gender on my birth certificate.I just joined a local Crossgender support group and went to my first meeting last night,My night out with the girls was wonderful.We meet upstairs at a Gay bar that gives us this space for meetings.What a great group of people I met last night.This was the first time I had met anyone like me in person.Most of the members are Transexuals like myself.We had a speaker who has been working for Transgender rights for a long time.She had transitioned several years ago and talked about how to transition in the work place.What to expect and what to be aware of from management as well as fellow employees,what our rights are.
Ever since I made my decision to live full time,I have been so happy,so free.I should be starting HRT as my next step soon.I am out to my whole family,except my Mother.I have'nt figured out how to break the news to her;I know she will be upset with my changing my name but,it is my life to live and I have to live it as me.No more macho games,no more lies and no more pretending to be someone I am not.:rose2:

Dear Priscilla,

I'm happy to hear that you've hooked up with a great local support group. I too wish you the best during your transition and hope that you find a way to tell your mother and that she will become a source of support for you.

Just curious - you said that you filed papers to legally change your name. Are you changing it to Priscilla, or did you pick another name?

Please keep us updated on your journey (I really like that word for this transitioning process).

My new name is Priscilla and there will be a lot of paperwork notifying credit companies,changeing drivers license,banks,title on the house,will,social security,title on car,notifying all Doctors offices,Concealed carry permit,Federal Firearms License,insurance,FBI and ATF,the list goes on.The process is an important one for me,once I have done this there will be no turning back.I live as Priscilla now but,it is going to be wonderful to be called by that name in the future.:rose2:

Priscilla, thank you for the update. Priscilla is a very pretty name and one I've always liked. I'm certain you'll wear it well. Did you pick out a new middle name to go with it?

That is certainly a lot of paperwork, I never realized there was so much "stuff" tied to our names. I'm sure you're making a list and checking it twice. Best wishes on your journey!
