This afternoon after work I had to stop at Wal-mart for a few things. I called my wife and asked her if she wanted anything. This is what I couldn't belive. My wife is not supportive, in fact in the past she has just about forbid me to shop at Wal-mart out of fear that I am shopping for fem things for myself, She asked me to buy her a dress for a wedding she is going to this Saturday. I said sure no problem and looked, they didn't have any. I did see some really cute tops that I almost got for myself but didn't. My wife has seen pictures of me dressed and she has allways liked everything that I have ever gotten for her. I just don't know how to take this, if I shop for myself it is a no-no, but shopping for her it is just fine. I guess she thinks that if I am shopping for her I won't look for anything for myself.

When I go shopping ,most times it's for me. I do however, shop for my wife also. Unless I am looking for something specific for my wife, all bets are off and let the cashregisters sing!:heehee:

I don't shop for my wife unless she's there to try it on. She has big boobs, so things don't always fit her the way they should, plus her tastes are somewhat different from mine, same thing with shoes.

I've given up buying my wife clothes..always wrong! Music, art, gift certificates..clothes I'm done with!

I do buy my wife clothes as gifts for special occassions or just because. However, her style is quite different from mine - she is a bit more conservative and prefers subdued natural tones or pale colors. I think I do a fair job of selecting for her (she only returns about 1 in 10 becuse of style).
And I LOVE shopping for her, I just today bought her a pair of slacks and two tops at Fashion Bug for her upcoming birthday.

I use to shop for my wife, or with her. Most of the time she wound up buying what I picked out, instead of what she had found. She thought I had real good taste in clothes for her. And the only thing she knew about my crossdressing was that I like to wear panties! She was O.K with that as long as I only wore them at home. I wish with all my heart that she was here to shop with me now. I lost her to cancer 1 1/2 years ago.

P.S. She did not like my taste in men's clothes!

Great GG,
Thank you for your concern! What part of Washington are you in? I lived in the Seattle area for 15 years before moving to Georgia, and will be moving back there sometime in the next 5 years.

My wife only allows me to buy her panties, and occasionally bras. Go figure. :D

none of the women I have met have wanted me to pick out clothes for them
they always try things on before they buy , the closest I have come is my
daughters christmas present she had already picked out what she wanted
and wrote it down for me ,so I just handed it to the sales girl and she knew
it wasnt for me as it was a very small size. a dress is very hard to buy without
trying on , my gf would get at least a days worth of shopping out of a dress
buy,

I think your wife figures that you have better taste and fashion sense than she does and she is putting it in your hands.

:hugs:my SO doesn't care what I do,but she doesn't support me in any way,she never contributes, never compliments my choices,I guess one could say she in nonsupportive.I've been with her for 4 years, one of these days I'll get fed up and go on my own again, and no I wont get involved with another GG again.

I hear ya girlfriend,I don't buy clothes for my SO unless it's a tee shirt or sweat shirt,as for shoes she wear sport shoes or some kind of hikeing boot, she has problems wearing heels,so I wear them for her,yes she is amazed how well I walk in 4 inch heels.:Party2:

I don't pay much attention to fashion, but I do have better taste in womens' clothes than my wife does. Indeed, one of the reasons that it was easy for me to slip into buying things for myself was that I had been buying things for her for years. And because I truly had been looking for her, not for me (I wasn't a crossdresser at the time), I never developed that apprehension about "everyone's looking at me" -- I already had the confidence and poise to move smoothly through clothing stores as if I belonged there.
A fair bit of my success in chosing clothes is that I'm patient about it, looking around multiple places and cross comparing, seeking out the unusual but interesting, picking the cream of the crop. My wife is much more an impulse shopper. For her, shopping is just something she does from time to time, whereas for me it is an Art :heehee:

I'm glad to hear your wife is feeling well enough to go to a wedding, so soon after surgery! Perhaps she wasn't feeling up to doing the shopping thingy as well. xoxo T
