I am in need of a haircut. I was thinking of getting a short cut that be styled as female cut, but looks like a male cut when I need it. Have any of you girls tried anything like that? Does it look okay, or does it look bad all the time? Any help would be great.

Hugs,
Kathy

Go for it. I had long hair for years. Finally went cute and colored and ... hey ... I saw I had a face. Brings your eyes out, too.

Have not cut the hair in over 6 years and ain't gonna now. Just got it colored a few weeks back, and is now the color it w3as about 10 years back. Everyone loves the look. Keep it in a tail most times, and when I let it down, even in drab, I get that special feeling. If you want to go short, go for it. To each, his/her own. Love and xxxx, Lily

Haven't thought about that yet. However I did do a search on google and it came up with this website:

http://www.hair-styles.org/default.html

with loads of different styles for you to choose from and think about!

Kathy, I've always wnated to do that and maintain the style for a long time, not just 1 cut. Unfortunately, no courage and more importantly I don't know what would work. If you have an understanding stylist, then I think it could be done.

Over the years I have had my hair long, short, permed, and colored. I have been letting it grow out lately, I am looking to grow it a little longer than a pageboy. It is now layered medium brown with blond highlights. It looks more like #1 now, #2 this is what I am aiming for.

I have been wanting to do this for a long time now. I am hoping that one of my GG friends knows a hair stylist so that I can go them and see what options I have. Good Luck let us know if you get something good. :D

What little hair I have left, I shave. At least I don't have to worry about my hair showing through my wig.

Kathy, do it. Wigs are so uncomfortable and once you decide on a style you can make it work. I haven't worn a wig in years and do with my hair exactly what you want to do with yours. And I go out regularly. Before doing anything, study the passing parade of women's styles and pick a few that you think will work and then consult a stylist.

HI about six mos ago I had my hair cut into a chin lenght bob stacked in the back with blond highlights . this Is not what I wanted the girl that has cut and styled my wigs assumed once my hair grew out I would want it the way she did my wigs and once she started it felt so right I said nothing, for the first few weeks I thought I got a lot of stares but I got over it and love my fem hair I go and get it cut and colered once a month and I guy mode i somtimes tuck the hair behind my ears I say do what you want its your hair and life.

My job sort of means that I can not grow my hair long so I have to wear wigs, both short and long, a bit of a hassle but thats life. Many years ago it was long enough for me to sit on it; I cried when it was removed.
Go for it.
Hugs to all

Kathy,

I have been playing around with that for quite a while now. Have had some success. You just have to keep experimenting and don't cut too much at one time. I think a good stylist would help but I haven't taken the time to find one since I would have to go quite a ways away from here to do it.

Good luck!

I only got through 15 sets, but the blond on the right #3 is good (for me), and I would (figuratively) kill for the bob on the blond on the right of #15.

If at all possible, I would suggest keeping the long hair. It can always be tied back or on top - more versatile. Faces are great no doubt but maintaining stylish short hair is an investment.

Thanks for all the support. Now I''m sure I will get a real cute cut now. All I have to do is find a stylist. I'm sure I'll be nevous when I do it, but I'll feel better after. Maybe I'll post some pictures.

Whoah, looking at the Very Short section (http://www.hair-styles.org/fvs1.html), my hair is already that long!

I feel that I need longer hair in order to have a convincing femme presentation though. Getting read as female is about having enough feminine cues to override the masculine ones, and being a genetic male, I have more masculine cues than those girls with very short hair.

Maybe I could get away with hair that short if I had FFS... although by the time I do that, my hair might have grown long enough anyway.

Jennifer - Remember, part of the hair style is "length", but it also includes things like bangs (or no bangs), layering, etc.

So, just as your hair may be as "short" as the picture, it may not be cut the same.

Note - I am in the process of letting my hair grow out so that I can get a styled haircut that is dual purpose (for when I am dressed drab OR dressed drag).

My wife actually has a cut that I would like (although I would figuratively kill for a chin-length or shoulder-length bob), and her hair is not must longer than mine, only cut/styled differently.

I had that done exactly as you suggested yesterday. I told my hairdresser who has a lovely private studio that I wanted to brush it forward and girl it up when I wanted it and have it back, more manly when I wanted that, and she styled it just like that.I told her that I was a cross dresser and that I just never bothered to mention it to her before. She laughed and told me I was cool. I love it. I do look more feminine even when I have it back, but so what? Now it will grow longer and when it is just short of the shoulders, it will be perfect.
