Hi Ladies

I know there are quite a few new girls here. I am not sure where they shop. I thought I would mention second hand stores. Call them thrift store, call them vintage stores, call them what you will. They can be a source of inexpensive clothing.

I go to several. I have found many items still with the tags on at good prices. Example, black evening dress (w tag or $65 (US)) I got it for $7.

Several things to keep in mind if you do go second hand shopping.

Washable items: Tags can be a very good judge of items. Some washable items seem to look great but I always look at the tag/size labels for fadding or fraying. That indicates a lot of washing.

Dry clean items: It is much harder to read these as tags do not fad or fray nearly as quickly as they do on washable items. One of the things I look for here is a shinnyness to the fabric. That will ususally indicate a lot of times at the cleaners.

Leather skirts: Look for folds or creases in the material. They got there for a reason.

I always examine items closely for seams, tailoring (taken in to really fit a gg), hems, condition in general.

I always, and I repeat always, either wash or dry clean an item before wearing them. I stick to only outer clothing, no undies please. I have seen fantastic bras with tags but I passed them by.

One of my favorites has what they call Dollar Day. Nearly everything in the store is $1.

Unlike a new goods store, I use the old - I sell on ebay line if questioned or looked at strange about what I am buying since I do it in drab mode. If they get to know you and you have a couple stories like "remember ...... I made ...... on it on ebay". In reality I have found several things in these stores, got home, they did not fit and sold them on ebay. Only the very select and very new items. Example, leather skirts, angora sweaters (70% or more). I bought an angora swearter, beautiful, 80% angora, got it for $3, got home to small, sold to a lady in Germany for $38.

Using the above here are a couple dressed I picked up, had them cleaned and I have less then $8 in both.

I hope this helps new girls or those on budgets.

Hugs
Donna Louise

Please keep in mind that I do not have a gg figure by any means. The first is grainy as I forgot to shut the blind before making pic, sorry.

I'm glad you mentioned this source Donna Louise. Many girls probably never thought of this. The ones that I'm familiar with are Salvation Army and on ocassion have bought some nice things from them. Good luck shopping girls.
