For those of you with naturally long hair, do you find you get mistaken for a girl when in drab a lot?
I've been thinking, right now my hair is short, and when I go out en femme I put on a wig and breast forms. But what happens once I grow my hair long? (I'm on estrogen and doing laser beard removal, BTW)
I suppose if I end up getting mistaken for a girl all the time, I might just give up and go full time. :)

My hair is long but its in a pony tail and I'm bald on top so I look all male in drab. It's a pain gathering it all under a wig cap so I put a wig on and look a little bit like a girl.

On estrogen? Planning on transitioning?
If not, how's the estrogen working out?
I had my testicles removed on June 5, 2006, and started estrogen later that month. I think my facial features are somewhat softened on estrogen, and I have AA-cup breasts right now.
I'll probably transition at some point and I'm looking into FFS, but I'm just taking each day as it comes. I do not pass as female by default, and some days I feel lazy and anti-social and don't want anyone bothering me, so I just present as a guy. Other days I feel like less lazy and want to be cuter so I put on my wig, breast forms and make-up and be a girl.

Long hair here but I'm afraid I'm a bit too hard looking to be mistaken for a girl. I do get a lot of 'look aways' while driving. Some guy driving up from behind and 'checking out' the long hair. That lasts 'bout to the point when they see my face, then the 'look away' quickly. Can't possibly get caught looking at another guy. I don't mind I just think it's funny at the time.
Jen, it sounds like you're almost ready to go full time. So what's stopping you? I wish I was that close but can't ever see myself doing the drugs.

Right now it takes too much effort to pass as a female day-to-day. I have to constantly be conscious of my voice, and I have to wear a wig/breast forms, and I haven't yet gotten good female clothing that looks good and feels comfortable.
I envy this GG tomboy friend of mine---she dresses quite boyishly and even cuts her hair short, but she has a very feminine face/body and cute voice so she looks like a cute girl anyway. (Ironically, she's not trying to look like a cute girl, she's trying to look more independent!)
There's also some people that I'm not out to who know me as a guy... Although they're not too significant, other than my mother.
So I'd probably wait at least until I can pass with little effort before going full-time.

I had my hair about 14 or 15" long when I was in university; I don't recall being mistaken for female back then. (Just mistaken for being gay -- but that happened even when I had short hair.)

I have worn my hair long (middle of my back) for 30 years.
During the course of that time, I have had people mistake me for a woman from the back despite being rather broad-shouldered for that. It was often quite fun when I turned around, since I wore a beard and mustache until this summer when I finally shaved it all off. (My 26 yr. old daughter's reaction was funny, she was shocked, having never seen my bare face since she was old enough to remember! LOL).
On a couple of occaisions was called ugly names by teenage homophobes driving by. (I note that they did not have the stones to come up and say that to my face, however!) But, that was their hang-up, not mine. :D

Long hair here and always in ponytail when out. On record, I'm usually mistaken for fem in drab usually in the fast food car lanes 25 percent of the time because I'm sitting down in the car. Standing I'm never mistaken for fem (as far as I know) Cheri.

Long hair here as well. Wear it in a 'tail most times, but do keep it down on occasion, and have been called Ma'am a few times. I dress adpogynously anyway on my days off, womans jeans, blouse, et al, and lately mascara, eyeshadow, and lip stick. People do get confused at times, and I love it when they don't know how to address me. Love and xxx, Lily

my hair is down to my lower back, it does seem the longer my hair gets the more I get ma'am or a confused look when I have it down. the other day in a store the SA called me ma'am three time before another SA whispered into her ear that I was a guy :D

Agles, check out Propecia, it's a precription hair loss drug that lowers DHT, the cause of common hair loss in men. It has sexual side effects, but it's supposed to work well.

My hair is down to my shoulders, and gray. I have been called ma'am a number of times when approached from the rear, and even a few times when from the front if they are not paying close attention. For those that want to do this but need a cover, here is mine: I announced that I will not cut my hair until............................................. ... If I tell the reason I used, I may be outed against my will, but using that reason, no one even gives a second look any more.

I get strange looks from time to time and have been mistaken for a women a few times because of the fact that my hair is long and I wear ear rings in both ears all the time. My hair is just past my shoulders and curly and I have been coloring it for going on three years. That sometimes gets me strange looks as well. I also had my bangs cut recently which makes me look even more fem than before. The issue comes more from hairstyles than from the overall look of the long hair I think. Most of the time when someone does mistake me for a woman when I am in drab it is because I have just been to the salon and my stylist has fluffed my hair after the usual cut and color and I do look more fem.
When people ask me why? I jsut tell them because that is what I want. Don't like it to bad!!!! I don't really see that how I wear my hair is anyones business but mine and my wife's and since she is comfortable for the most part with my hairstyle I don't care what other people think.

My hair is down near my bra strap in back but I don't get many outward reactions to it. I suppose that from a distance people do mistake me for a girl but no one has said so to me. Maybe I would get reactions if I went out dressed but I haven't gotten to that point yet.

Ih It happened again today at the check out in Petmart. The clerk addressed me as ma'am, and she was looking directly into my face. My hair has a natural wave to it and I have been pulling it closer to the front of my face more.
