Interesting webpage I just came across, belongs to Dr. Somsak (a Thailand SRS surgeon who seems to be popular on the beginninglife.com TG boards):

http://www.kasemrad.net/extreme.html

It's a package where you stay in Thailand for two months, and they do everything to you: SRS, FFS, body feminization surgery and breast implants.

That's got to be the closest thing to a real "sex change operation" in laymen's terms (i.e. go in as a guy, come out as a girl) I've ever seen!

I wonder how well it would work in practice, for someone who isn't good at crossdressing/presenting as female?

Well, I saw an episode on the show The Secret Life of Women that had an MtF TS who went to Thailand and had four operations done at once - for much less than it would cost in the states. I believe she had the vaginoplasty, tracheal shave, breast implants and facial feminization done. I wouldn't say she passed very well before, but when she was all healed from the surgeries she looked great. She went back to see her family and they had a big party for her. Her mother proclaimed her the daughter she always wanted. I love happy endings!

Definately NOT a recommended route.

If ANYONE is considering taking this sort of short cut I would strongly reccommend against it.

Picture the senario. One day you wake up and deicde 'I want to be a girl'. You trawl the internet and come up with this 'solution'. One phone call, one cheque and you're on your way to Thailand for a life changing operation.

2 months later you come back home having had all the work done, and guess what? - you find that you can't live in you newly aquired gender and need to change back, but hello! - this is a one way street!!!!!

The recognised guidlines ARE there for a reason. Ignore them at your own peril.

I know I've written this in a very simplistic way, but there has been more than one person regretted this life changing decision. Think long and hard before you do ANYTHING and if and when you do go for it do the RLT before you commit yourself to spending loads of money and making what could be the biggest mistake you'll ever make.

:iagree:with Rachel, this is definately not the route to take. I wouldn't even consider it as I still have a long way to go.

Interesting.

I suddenly realize that I've come to a juncture in my life where that Thailand trip seems like a rational choice.

I live as a male and use estrogen only to keep my brain from exploding. At age 65, I'm not seeing changes that would alter my lifestyle. So, I don't think much about matters of gender. I just take my pill and get on with my life.

It's like smoking. You know you enjoy it, but you stop because of the negative health effects. You can't quit cold. The craving's too strong. You need help. In my case, the hormone's my "Nicoderm patch". It works.

So it's odd to find myself thinking, "I could do that." I could live as a woman just as well as I can as a man. I don't "want" to, I don't "need" to, I won't, but I could.

I'm right on the fence.

Gee,it sounds too good to be true.Dont do it,ladies, there are other methods to become a girl rather than being victims of a hoax.

Personally I wouldnt do it....I rather be a girl on my own....

I hope none of you girls fall into this scam....

Peace and Love,Sakura....

ALL bonfide surgeons would need letters from your physican stating you are needing to transition thus have surgery, plus you will need to prove you have been transitioning for certain amount of time! all of the surgeons i know of in Thailand need two letters of referrals from physican/physc's before they will proceed regardless if you had the cash or not........btw this surgeons name i have NEVER heard of.....and i know of ALOT of girls that have had surgey in thailand........this is DEFINITELY a scam to get your money

I've done some research on SRS in Thailand, and there are places you can get it done for as little as $6000 or so. A lot of the places there seem on the up and up, and the facilities do seem to be very modern and such. My son has been to Bangkok a couple of times and says it's quite a modern city as a whole, but let's face it, it's still considered a Third World nation. I wouldn't go there for a vacation, so I really don't think I'd go there for life altering surgery just so I could save some money. But that's just my opinion, I'm sure there are those who have had it done there with success.

Another thing that made me uneasy about Thailand was the recent overthrow of the government by the military. I realize it was peaceful and such, but to me that's a pretty big red flag, I really don't think I'd want to go there under those circumstances. I realize that coming up with the funds is a big problem so it does sound appealing, I'd just be kind of leery about it is all.

for people like me im like wow lets go $35,000 is not much when i was thinking total work here in the states could be 3x that.
but this my sound good and even could be. but there are alot of other things. i would say you should "A" be living full time. "B" homones for atleast a year is a must if not longer. "C" see a theripast. and wait what did i just say... pretty mush what you would half to go though here in the states anyway.

also i question the fact that that is alot of work to be done at one time. over 2 months?? ok i have read about people coming out of GSR and 2 months is fast. sure some and maybe more now then when i was reading do come out that fast. but still to have all that other work done.

if i was through all those things i listed above then sure id look into this abit more. but i dont know. im yet to look into names of people who do this or there work yet. it's something that should not be rushed and looked at form all angles.

Just for information, I had my op a few months ago and I just have another couple of months to wait until I can get the correct brith certificate.

I had my op privately in the UK at a cost of far less than $35,000 and I would highly recommend anybody to go to the surgeon I used. No complications, my family came with me and stayed locally and, being in the UK, the surgeon gave me a post-op check-up, just to ensure everything was fine - which it was.

It wouldn't really be a practical proposition to go back to Thailand for a post-op check-up!!!!!!!!!! (although obviously not impossible).

Even if going to Thailand for surgery wasn't an option I'm still jealous of all you MtF's, surgery for you ladies is Uber-cheaper than for FtM's, a genital reconstruction surgery alone is usually upwards of 100,000$, but I think that as long as you go through the right channels >counselling etc< it is certainly okay to go abroad for SRS etc, just be careful, go to accredited Hospitals, often high class hospitals in foreign countries are loads cheaper than cheap-ish hospitals here.

hi there yes Thailand is the way to go i am thinking of Dr suporn he is real good here is his web site www.supornclinic.com and i know my friend recommends him she had hers done two years ago and Dr suporn has pictures of the procedures too eww. oh and yes i have done my two year rlt so i am ready now were did i put that money...

BTW a girl from Melbourne Australia. the Dr messed up the whole operation so that the skin from the penis and scrotum could not be used don't know what they did to mess it up but they were going to harvest skin for the neovagina from several other places. so if you pray Chantalle could use your payers if it is OK to ask that here . so please check into the doctors and make sure you check them out don't let it happen to you...
