Hello Zoe
I think it's because you don't shave often enough. When I shave, I use a lotion when the area I shaved is dry, not wet. Baby powder after you shave is good also. Any time I shave a new area for the first time, I always get a rash. Hope that helps.

Like Lanore says, it's probably due to lack of regular shaving. Of course that never stops the little nicks and cuts...
I tend to shave my legs wet, using a Shick Intuition. It's got the lubricant built in, and is quick and easy to use daily in the shower. You'll probably try several types of methods and or razors before you find something you're comfortable with.
Remember: To avoid nicking the spot on your achilie's tendon (just where the shoe back rubs...), lift your leg up with your arm and relax your foot.

Shave often, and always clean your legs before hand with antibacterial soap. Ingrown happen when you shave against the grain. so go with the flow of hair, use a new razor, soften the hairs first by washing and use a good shaving lubricant. Just like your face.
Works for me anyway, and for those more private areas, if possible, wax.

The bumps are irritated hair folicles. When you shave, the blade (manual or electric) actually pulls the hair up a bit as it cuts it. Hairs that haven't been shaved often produce greater irritation. Ditto on what others have said as well.

You should try an aftershave product called Tend Skin. It works really well for me on those areas where the red bumps are. It's also a great after electrolysis treatment, which is what I got it for to start with.

Hi babes, when i last shaved, i always shaved while is was in the bath so that my legs stayed wet all the time i was shaving. always shave in the direction that the hair grows as this makes it easier and smoother, And most importantly always use a SHARP razor
Good luck.... :hugs:

When I shave my body in the shower or tub I wash off with cooler water so the pores close so it prevents bumps and redness on my skin.
