At Julie's suggestion in a different thread, I recently ordered and received some wonderful books including "True Selves". I'm saving most of my thoughts for my upcoming therapy appt. I made w/ a gender specialist (again, thx to Julie for info. leading me to find this therapist). I wonder though. Wouldn't it be a good idea to consider running a thread on a particular book like True Selves? I'm thinking of a million things as I read it, and it would be good to be able to share some of them, and hear about some of yours (if others are reading it). Isn't a book thread a novel idea? LOL
Any takers?

Chrissy, I'll second that. A book thread here would be a great idea. True Selves sounds like a good start. Go for it

I personally find it hard to find time to read all the posts and say hi to the new girls and to compliment those who deserve it(nice avator Tristen, best yet).I'll bet most girls here would find it hard to find the time to read a book and follow the threads, comment on them and suggest ideas.
Even deciding on the topic would entail a long discussion and some hurt feelings.Never mind picking an author.
That's my opinion.

I think the book thread is a terrific idea. One thought, in response to Racquel's hesitation, would be to take turns choosing a book. I think there should be a time limit for each (monthly?, bi-monthly?) and then someone choose the next. If we don't like the choice, then we just sit out that month.
To begin, I suggest Chrissy's selection, but allow us time to purchase it.

I think your ideas are part of the process. It would probably begin with a small group, and may stay that way, but the more the merrier. It would be best to be reading a book simultaneously, but even if those girls who have input b/c they already read it join in, that would be nice too.
Julie has mentioned True Selves several times in other threads, and so I'm into it right now, too. Maybe it would be best to start with a fresh title in, say, February???
We could just do a practice run w/ True Selves just to get the ball rolling though. I'm afraid that if we start with it, I'll be onto other things by the time other girls get it. (Not being selfish, but, I ordered it from Amazon in mid November and d/n get it until two days after Christmas.)
I don't know though. It's a very good book, and I think it would provoke a thoughtful discussion. While there are things in it I totally identify with, there are others where I think the author is off the mark on some things about who is TS, and who is supposedly not.
What do you girls think? I've never really begun something like this. Help!!
There's another book I have from Julie's list that I haven't started called "Wrapped Up in Blue - A Journey of Discovery". Does anyone know anything about it? Would it be a good starting point?

ps - Julie, I'll be looking into the book you mentioned. I'm into yoga although I'm no yogini. I think it'd be an interesting book, too.
