View Full Version : Anime, Manga, and Games with a CD theme
Hi all,
I just finished reading Vampire Doll. It is a manga where a vampire is resurrected in the body of a 16 year old girl. It is pretty funny and it got me to thinking what else is out there? Anyone have any suggestions?

you came to the... wait you didnt come to me.. i found you. even though i have not been around that long i think i can consider myself the resident Otaku here (and i have not heard anyone really talking about anime other then me). though i dont get to read my manga. but i find alot of if not mostly all the anime i get has some kind of crossdressing in it at some point. my all around fave right now is "I My Me Strawberry Eggs" about a man who cant get a job as a teacher because he's a man. so he goes back as a women and gets the job. during this 2 of his/her students fall in love with there teacher. a male and a female. there is not much in turms of gender things talked about. but alot abour sexual equality. if you go looking for rare or losser known anime you should be able to find lots more like this. and alot of greats have had there crossdressing episode somewhere. from Evagelion to Ah My Godess even Comic Party.

CD themes ... look no further than the beautiful series that was cyber six, it was about a human produced by an evil organization; after catching wind of this organization she is determined to stop them and seperates herself from them. While she's no longer affiliated with them, she dresses up as a male to disguise her identity and works as a teacher. She befriends another male teacher who eventually catches wind of the fact he is a she ... and then he helps her overthrow the above mentioned organization ... it was an amazing show. CD themes in games ... if you've played FF7 ... you'll know what I'm talking about right away lol

You haven't mentioned it yet, and I assume most people (who love manga) already know, but Ranma 1/2 is another one. Ranma is normally a boy, until cold water is thrown on him, and then he is a girl.
However, don't forget the online webcomics. Although they don't always update on time, they have long archives. Reward yourself by clicking to the beginning and reading forward:
Venus Envy (http://venusenvy.comicgenesis.com/): This is one of the oldest and most prestigious webcomics with a TG theme. It's also my fave!
Lean on Me (http://jadaze.comicgenesis.com/): This is another one of the older webcomics with a TG theme. Right now, the woman who draws it is on a sort of hiatus, but she has filler comics available.
Closetspace (http://www.dolari.org/cs/index.htm): Another good comic.
Transe-Generation (http://www.transe-generation.com/default.asp): This one is a bit of a twist on the others. Matt, who draws it, is a FtM. The ones above are mostly MtF.
You might already have heard of these already, but if you haven't, then they are definitely worth checking out. Happy Reading!

I love Ranma 1/2 by Ramiko Takahishi. It's a very popular 7 season and 2 Movie producing comedy cartoon about a 15 year old boy who has to train in Martial Arts with his dad. His dad takes him to the Cursed springs in China for his training. over ther the legeng is if you fall into one of those springs, you turn in to the last thing that died there everytime you are splashed with old water. His dad falls into one and becomes a panda. Then he is thrown into one and becomes a red headed girl!!!

"El Hazard" is one of my favs. It's about a guy (H.S. kid of course) who gets magically transported to another world (that looks like ancient Persia with advanced technology). Once he's there he finds out that he looks exactly like a princess who was kidnapped and has to impersonate her.
There are a lot of series tangents in this one - the only one that deals with gender play (which is also the original) is "the magnificent world"
I'm a big fan of Strawberry Eggs too - freakin hilarious (and one of the better dubs I've seen)

Let me see... I'm no otaku by any means, but I do like to read manga and watch anime.
I didn't see Your and My secret up here yet. It's about this girl and guy who swap bodies by the girls derranged father... and they end up fitting in their new bodies better than their old, much to the guys dismay. Unfortunatly, only one volume got published :( It's a great little book though, I recommend picking it up if you find it. Published by ADV Manga.
Gokudo is a fairly poorly localized anime published by Anime Works, but it has tons of transformation stuff throughout it, and the anti-hero Gokudo winds up female most of the entire series. I actually really like this one ^^;

Ranma is one of the classics in this theme. Personally I prefer the manga version of Ranma (which is the original, the animated version was done after the manga, also the animated version is incomplete, they stopped making it before they covered all the manga story).
The "Miss Keichi" story arc of Oh My Goddess (OMG is one of my very favourite manga). Oh My Goddess is about Keichi Morisato, a college student who one day accidentally dials the "Goddess Assistance Hotline", which is answered by the goddess Belldandy. To cut a long story short Keichi ends up living in a temple with Belldandy and her two sisters Urd and Skuld. In Miss Keichi, Keichi swallows one of Urd's magic potions and is transformed into a female version of himself, which he then has to stay as due to an unexpected and potentially troublesome visitor, until the visitor leaves. This is the only story arc in OMG which has obvious gender-switching content.
Some reviews of some other manga that have strong CD themes.
