Earlier this week I had to put on a shirt and tie. I must say I felt so very awkward. I stand at the mirror looking at myself feeling absolutely rediculous. It was almost like I was the dog with the party hat on. Yeah, I'm wearing the outfit but it just doesn't work. Anyone else?

It's all about perception. I'm a decent looking guy, so don't mind wearing a suit and tie now and then. Actually, women love it when guys dress up like that. The kicker is I look good as Ericka in a suit and tie as well. I always wear a loose fitting collar with my dress shirts which makes it less uncomfortable. I enjoy that role when I'm really into it though just as much as I enjoy dressing up nice and enjoying my role as Ericka. Ericka/Rich

I understand. I hate shopping for those types of clothes as well. Nothing like being forced to buy clothes you don't like.

I've been full time for a few months now, but in June I had to wear a tux for my daughter's wedding. I didn't mind it because it was her day after all, not mine, but I felt so weird, it was very uncomfortable for me.

I always feel like the skeleton at the feast if I have to (family reasons) wear boys clothes.
Weird city!

I feel very uncomfortable when I have to wear men's clothing. Fortunately it doesn't happen toooooooo often.

Actually I have one male suit... for funerals (where the peeps are gender moronic) and the bank (where he's gender flushtastic)... It doesn't really work to be honest... I think I look really weird, and everyone with half an eye agrees... Still, who am I to torpedo the boat?

Funnily enough Sandra and I have spoken to our daughter about this. She made it quite clear that she would want me to wear what I normally wear. In fact for her prom night, I had the honour of escorting her, and she insisted that I wear everyday things, the thing was not to outdo her.

I only wear Jeans and a T Shirt. I do wear a sweat Shirt or a denim western style shirt also. I will not wear Dress shirts they are so Gross. I was forced to wear a Dress Shirt at my sisters wedding when I was about 7 or 8. It grossed me out so bad that I was mentally hurt by it. I would rather have had to wear a Beautiful Dress like my other sisters. I will wear Blouses and dresses that button up, but NOT dress shirts. I am glad to see that I am not the only one who feels this way. When I am dress as a guy, I will not wear underpants, I might wear panties.

I have been assimilated... For decades I was one of the lucky "I don't own a suit or ties" guys, but about a year ago I took a job with a dress code that insisted on dress shirts and a tie for guys.

(On a side note, the dress code for the women is MUCH more slack... guys have to wear jackets and ties while girls are wearing tank tops, colored T's, bra straps showing, pretty much anything but jeans! I've mentioned this, but I think the CEO is cautious about spelling out what women have to wear)

For the first few months, I HATED putting on a tie. Now I am pretty much used to it and, in the past month or so, have even started to realize that the right shirt and tasteful tie can look pretty sharp. Not that, given the chance, I still wouldn't throw every tie I own in the trash can at a moment's notice!

The real question is... should my bra and/or panties match my tie when I am in 'drab'?

That thought just came to me. I think, to make things more fun during the week, I'm going to start matching my panties to the tie I have on as well as I can. :)

Is there a colon-code for the figure of something choking?

I guess I own a tie, because I seldom throw anything out until it is worn out; and the tie gets worn so seldomly that the only thing that it is worn out about it is its welcome.

It's at least half-true that I made the career choice that I did in order to avoid wearing ties. I could have gone into business programming as a well-paid "management consultant", but the stuffy suit-and-tie business persona seemed too much like moral death to me.

And I literally do not feel well if I have something putting pressure on my windpipe.

I can wear very high-necked blouses that rest against the skin, but not if they put pressure against the skin.

Mens suits are so boring. And when I go looking for one it's hard to find one that I like. I only have 3 and they are old like for college graduation, etc.

If it were perfectly ok to wear womens suits for work or everywhere even a job interview well I have a great choice of over 60 skirt suits!

Unfortunately, no matter how qualifed, or how well you interview, if you wear a skirt you will NEVER EVER get hired, even if you claimed religous belief.

As to the person who hates dress shirts, I do hate them, though not as much as when I was a kid, as a kid I hated hated hated having to put one on. Reminds me, is it even possible to design a mens dress shirt without infringing on someones copyright? I mean they are all so the same.

I'm going to buy a suit someday. I have a women's blue pinstripe suit, maybe I'll get something like it in drab. Out here you see about the same amount of men wearing dresses as suits {zero}, so I will still be wearing something non-conforming.

You know I must be the oddball here. I don't mind getting all dressed up in men's clothes sometimes. I think I actually look pretty good in a suit, and I often, especially this time of year, wear a casual blazer as a normal jacket. I wouldn't want to wear them on a regular basis, but they're fun for special occasions.

I just don't like being forced to wear something. I had a part time job from October of last year through july of this year where I had to wear slacks, a long sleeved shirt, and a tie. This would have been ok except I didn't feel like I was getting paid enough to have to wear a tie, and also then we had to wear an apron over it, which to me defeated the purpose. I did quit that job and now have one where I can wear anything I want, provided I wear the store t-shirt over top of anything else, and I just feel so much more comfortable at work now.

People say men's clothes all look the same, and that is true to a point, but I do think some subtle differences can make some guys look a lot stronger and more powerful. Though on the same token, I was always jealous at prom when all us guys had on tuxedos and the girls all got to go all out on their gowns. I wanted a prom dress so badly.

What is a colon code?

I suspect that it's one of these, Jodi:  because they start and end with a colon.

Anyway, back to the topic.

I don't mind wearing guy's clothes. After all, I do it most of the time. :) I don't like to wear a suit & tie, and only do it for weddings & funerals. People tell me I look good in a suit, but I feel like a MTFTM. :) (No offense intended, Ericka/Rich!)

Heh, like Robin Leigh said, it's the word you put in to invoke a special graphic output; the codes begin and end in colons (the punctuation.)

People who are using the fully graphics interface might never see the codes, but I use an older browser that doesn't support the feature needed to bring up the palette of graphics.

Also, if you are set up to have postings sent to an email address off-site then the codes show up in the email instead of the graphic.

{By the way, a minor and not terribly important point: Tess-Leigh is a single name, like Mary-Beth; but I answer to either. It skips even my own mind sometimes: I was thinking there for a second that I should tease and ask Robin Leigh whether we're related :) }

I'm a factory rat, by choice. But last year I had to get a suit, for my mother's funeral. I lived through it, but I would rather wear a skirt and top...BJ

I'm usually tshirt and jeans in drab unless i'm at work. I try to make up for the boringness of men's clothes with my tshirts. Always happy to find another unusual one.

My middle sister has a hyphenated first name. She usually just uses the first part, though. I can't reveal it as it's unique, but the reasoning behind it is rather interesting, with a bit of a TG twist...

Leigh is a family name passed down through my mother's side for a few generation, so I share it with all my sisters, as well as Mum & her siblings, etc. Robin Leigh is/are my middle name(s). I have used Robin as my femme name, but I usually use the feminized form of my first name. It makes it easier for my friends if they accidently start to say my guy name when I'm en femme; they can "convert" if they realize in time. :)

If any of my close relatives read this, I've just outed myself.
