I have been buying some anime books as of latly from a comic dealer here in our city.
And this weekend finally did get around to lokkng at some of them I do have now several in a series of anime books and the thing that does seem to stick kn my mind is how the anime little girls are drawn they are so very cute except for the eyes which are kind of stange in a way but then.
The little girls in anime are so innocent looking and do get to wear and dresss like little girls used to in the United States in all kinds of very nice feminine underwear and skirts and dresses.
And then the way they do get to act and pose is yet another thing.
Having loooked through the books this weekend i was just wondering how many of the girls out there wish they could start all over again if and when they were allowed to be feminine and act like little girls should act.
I am thinking that given a real chance that i would opt out for this indeed
Oh well

I have been looking at some more anime books and i still do come to the very real conclusion that the way anime is drawen is how little girls are still suppose to be still in this day and age!
I mean i do know this if and when i was ever allowed to become a real female from scratch like this this is how i would just love to be all girly and feminine and to be free to wear the right cloths at long last skirts dresses and all girly undergarments
ANd hey wow the way they do draw anime girls in the nude just as well they are so cute that i just want to melt right into the pictures and become one of them.
Oh well
Jay Suzy perhaps much more later!

Ummm, no. You need to have much more of a feel for Japanese culture to understand.
In Japan, associating sexuality with youth is (generally speaking) not culturally considered pornographic. Actual nudity in published pictures has to wait until chronological age 18, but there is no legal ban against the women appearing to be young in the pictures, including no ban against dressing like a high school student. There are a whole slew of glossy magazines (many with high production quality) that show 16 year-olds in skimpy clothes for deliberate erotic effect. Even pictures of 14 year olds in shorts or short skirts; generally speaking, the younger the girl, the less skimpy the clothes and the less erotic the pose, but even with the 14 year olds, it is understood that you might be thinking of them sexually. By 16, a frontal pose in a bikini that shows noticable cleavage is not uncommon. Sort of "We can't show you her with the bikini off yet, but feast your eyes on her obvious sexuality!".
Also, in Japan, drawings depecting nudity of characters represented as under 18 is not forbidden. The material might thereby become the equivilent of "restricted" for buying, but not necessarily so if there is no sex. And these manga (printed comics) and anime (animation) with underage nudity are not necessarily intended as pornographic nor even necessarily with an overall risque theme -- some of them are amazing works of art with powerful storylines and character development and incredible drawings -- for example, "Neon Genesis".
Is there anime and manga that depicts characters under 18 story-years old in specifically sexual situations? Yes -- there is an entire well-selling genre to it.
Thus it is dangerous to conclude much about sexuality and nudity and innocence in anime by just watching a bit of anime or reading a couple of sources: you have to know the culture and know the genres to have a chance of figuring out what the creators intended to convey.
Yes, some of what you see is intended to convey the carefree beauty of youth, but on the other hand, it might just be there as a form of "soft porn". For example, read up on the phrase "fan service".
There's a lot more about Japan and youth and sexuality and culture that could be written, but I'm not even close to an expert on it.

Hi Everyone: There R some over zealous law enforecment personel here in Az that got carried away with hunting pedophiles a few yrs ago. There was a computer that had some young teen animae drawings and some drawings also of obvious sex with children. I am certainly not defending pedophilia, but this individual was arrested indicted and tried for his collection.
Later it was dropped because there were no photos, only drawings. Since there was no victum there was no crime. It basically is this; can we be convicted of thinking about a crime?
Often when I see teen girls showing lots of skin (not to mention ass cheeks) at the malls I have daydreams about what I would do if............ but is that criminal, or normal.

Maybe I'm misinterpreting Suzy's initial post, but I don't think she was really commenting on the sexuality of the little girl characters, but rather how they dressed and act. Merely the fact that they are wearing sailor school uniforms, frilly dresses and petticoats, etc. something little girls here in the States haven't really done since the 50's and 60's. They are protrayed as ultra-fem and girlie, and that is a stereotype that appeals to many here I'm sure. Just my :2c:

My spouse is Japanese, so we end up watching a fair bit of anime (not that I mind ;-) ). And sure there are carefree innocent girly girls, but it is the majority: most anime depicting young women *is* deliberately sexuallized, even if it isn't an overt part of the plot. Sailor Moon is definitely not innocent entertainment.
For example, about 6 weeks ago (roughly) in an anime we were watching, a young boy and young girl discovered their first love for each other. And according to what the other characters said, the boy and girl had made love. The characters were 14.
I don't mean to convey that anime is somehow "wrong": I'm just saying that I've seen enough of it and know enough about the culture to know that there is more deliberate sexualization of young women in anime than is obvious to casual observers.
Those boy-shorts and frilly skirts aren't just there because they are innocently pretty: there is a non-trivial cultural fixation (or fetish if you prefer) on those kinds of clothes: they mean more than they appear to mean, and the style is designed with the purient interest in mind.

that's not what i am meaning here what i really do like about anime manga is the fact that the little girls in the drawing are pretty sure but they are drawen very young lokking as chilren and that si what i am meaning.
This is how i would really like to be if and when i were ever really allowed to become a child again i would choose to be a very young girl to essentially begin all over again as a young female girl and to dress accordinlly just like that and or as young girl children used to dress in the United states i do recall that time and sometimes i used to wish back then that i could wear those kinds of cloths and even today i do wish i could do that myself to wear those kinds of very cute clothing the skirts and dresses little girls used to wear and to run and play with other young girls and giggle and just have fun and relish being female that is what and how i do desire to be!

You are not alone. There is a subclass of CDs who dress in those clothing styles, me being one. As a group, such CDs are referred to as LGs or Little Girls (http://www.geocities.com/FashionAvenue/1492/faqs.html). Think of it as an age-play costume party with the participants expressing their inner child. It is also popular in Japan under the name Gothic Lolita. LGs generally assume ages between 4 and 10 or 11; I am forever 10.
Rainbow Mountain Resort (http://www.rainbowmountain.com/) hosts an LG Camp (http://www.geocities.com/FashionAvenue/1492/camp/camp_faq.html) twice a year and it is well attended. LG Camp features a variety of activities, e.g., crafts, games, ballet, birthday parties, all in a very homey, safe and entirely innocent setting with great food.

my wife was also Japanise. I too have seen alot of anime. My wife was the one who got me tottally into crossdressing, and we used to have dress up sessions where she would dress up as our favorite characters from her "anime" graphic novels. her as a male character, and me as a female character. (oh the fun we used to have.)

The biggest feature of being an LG is that there is absolutely no premium for passing. There is almost no likelihood of an LG passing, so a whole bunch of concerns for most CDs are off the table as a lot of the accoutrements of BGs (Big Girls, i.e., adult CDs) such as forms, makeup, heels, sexy lingerie, etc., are unnecessary. Much simpler life yields more time for play...
