Well it's been a busy couple days.
Friday night I went out to the TGSF Halloween Party (which is also a fundraiser for the groups) -- and got to do some semi-drag. Semi because I was wearing my Little Red Riding Hood costume rather than full drag.
http://www.adahlshouse.com/pics/costume_contest.jpg
Definitely fun, although I definitely could use more practice -- but I still did better than most of the other folks who performed (if I say so myself). I did well enough I was asked if I could perform a second number -- that one wasn't nearly as polished, but at least I did know all the words (generally a good idea when one is lip-synching. :p)
Anyway, today my client's company had costume contest planned so I dusted off the costume again and went dressed up to work. On the way to work, I shopped to get my usual coffee and when I placed my order the counter staff did a doubletake -- "That's you?!" Turns out they hadn't recognized me until I heard my voice (which I didn't bother to try to feminize).
Same thing happened at work. More than a couple people said they didn't recognize me at first -- and definitely did a doubletake when they realized what was up. Overall, everyone got a huge kick out it, especially since I was one of the few people who showed up in costume for the day (a lot odf folks just got dressed up for the contest itself). A couple of the women told me they couldn't believe how pretty I was -- which needless to say was extraordinarily pleasing. ;)
Still waiting to hear about the results of the costume contest. They gave a ballot all the employees, so they going to tally up the results and send out an email announcing the winners.
Was supposed to go out to a party tonight, but when I stopped for dinner, I ended up getting in a conversation with the people at the next table -- in which I ended up talking how this wasn't the first time I'd put on a dress. We had a such a good conversation, I didn't realize how the time flew until the restaurant was closing up for the night -- at which point I didn't feel like driving up to SF for the party. But all-in-all quite a fun day.
So what were other folks up to?

Made the party at Fielden's (http://www.fieldensva.com) in Richmond Saturday night. It started out slow, but got quite crowded a couple of hours in.
I wore my maid outfit with my long wig (http://crossdressers.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=12419&d=1129173754). My first wig, and this was the first time I wore it out. My wife prefers the shorter one.
One lady there asked if I was a guy or gal. One of the CDs asked if it was my real hair.
I left around 3:15 am, and the line to get in was out the door.
On the way out of Richmond I realized it was really 2:30, but I was tired and glad I forgot to set my watch back, as it was 1.5 hr drive home.

I went as Twiggy.
I had friends pinching my bum all night. One guy (at a bar) stopped for a second and started laughing and said "sh*t, I thought you were a girl for a second."
I told the bartender (a very hot girl) that she could touch my boob, if I could touch hers, just joking around. She said, "sure" grabbed my male chest (I was wearing no bra, no stuffing), and I stroked her boob. She then called her friend over, and then, same thing.
When a girl walked in to my place (we had a house party before going out), she started to give bisous to everyone, gave me my two, and said, "attends, vous êtes un garçon!" It was half a compliment and half in jest, I think.
It was a very boozy night, I tell you.

Glad to hear you had such a nice time for Halloween, Marlena. I love that Red Riding Hood outfit (watch out for wolves!). If you look half as good in person as you do in your pics, it's no wonder you got so many compliments. So what did you sing (lip synch)?

You always have so much fun out enfemme, Marlena!! Loved the LRRH costume!
I wussed out, plain and simple, as far as dressing up at work, no one really wore a costume this year and the secretary job that HR had posted was filled last week.....So I would have had no real good pretense. <Sigh>. Coal companys aren't real halloween friendly places. Hehe

So what did you sing (lip synch)?
Two songs from The Motels (Amazon has samples (http://www.amazon.com/All-Four-One-Motels/dp/B000002R0W/sr=8-4/qid=1162398609/ref=pd_bbs_sr_4/104-4838195-0738321?ie=UTF8&s=music)).
The first song was "Apocalypso" and the second was "Tragic Surf." (I'd originally wanted to to "Change My Mind," which is a nice cabaret style song, but I was told it's better to do something more uptempo. So "Tragic Surf" seemed campy and fun -- girl goes with Johnny to the beach, where he tries to surf a killer wave.... "Who would have thought, who would have known, that night I'd leave the beach alone?" -- but the rythym wasn't quite right, so ended up switching to "Apocalypso" the day before the show.)
Thanks Sophia! And Karren, I'm deeply disappointed. Here I thought you'd go as a member of the women's hockey team. :p

Hmmmmmm. Didn't think of that. And funny you should mention that because I standing here in the hockey supply store getting my skates sharpened for the playoffs!! Hehe. The thing is that the only difference between guy hockey and girl hockey equipment is the shape of the cup... The girls have these cute "Jill shorts" with pelvic protection... So when I wear my lucky sports bra I guess you could say that I do crossdress when ever I go play hockey... :D.
Mental note: need to get some pink hockey tape for my stick.

Hi Marlena! Sounds like a couple terrific evenings. And, of course, the costume looks just terrific. If you don't win the costume party, it'll be a travesty! (Or travesti, as our friend Eddie Izzard would say.)
For my part, Hallowe'en is still reserved for the kids (they are 6 and 2). Helene and I had a great time going trick-or-treating with them, then gave out candy to what seemed like the entire juvenile population of North America. Wore us right out so off to an early bedtime. Not great for boosting my fem credentials, but I wouldn't have spent the evening any other way...

Sounds like a great time Marlena. I bet it'lll be fun to chat with the women you work with now. You get a certain closeness to people when you've made yourself vulnerable, I find. Like you showed you were a good sport, and took a risk, people are drawn to that, confident vulnerability.
It would be so much fun to go somewhere with girlfriends of mine en femme!
Also, you look great, very natural.

I had the best last few days ever. Got to go dressed to dinner and parties Fri, sat, sun. Great to be emfemme for that long. Also on halloween I decided to go out again but to shop that evening. Went to the local mall and walked end to end window shopping and then food shopping. At 6'7" with my 4in. pumps I'm sure I dont pass but otherwise look pretty good. A few strange looks from a few people, but otherwise everyone treated me as usual. Incredible courage booster to go out other than halloween.

Good work Marlena, you look stunning! Good story.
You know I'm beggining to wonder what the percentage of guys dressed en femme on holloween are really CDers. I'm going to go ahead and guess pretty high. ;)

Marlena! you're my heroine! I must say you look very cute in your little red riding costume :D ...you've got me thinking about what my next Halloween costume might be
I'm not surprised that your co-workers/clients didn't recognize you, having actually met you in person, I can testify that you are very feminine....especially your voice.
I expect you've heard what Marla and I got up to on Halloween :D Here's a link:

Sadly I wasn't one of the winners -- the concensus seemed to be that because I'm consultant a lot of folks didn't know who I was. :hmph: Sweet lemon... A number of people told I should've won.
Hiprule -- Thanks! And the women did get a kick out of it. (The people I work with are almost all women.)
Briana -- Well there is a reason Halloween is also called "National Crossdressers' Day." :D Although on a serious note, I think there's also just guys who are curious about gender-bending. But I've definitely seen "female" costumes that were explicitly intended for men.
Angel -- :blushing: Flattery will get you everywhere... Actually, the fun thing is that I didn't try to feminize my voice -- based on the last party, I already knew people were likely think I did a little too good a job. (But hey, it's Halloween, so plausible deniability. ;).) The funny thing is I actually had do to a presentation first thing in the morning. The funnier thing is one of my co-workers was late to the meeting and when she looked in the window she didn't recognize me and consequently thought she'd gone to the wrong room. :p

Marlena -- Sounds like you had a great time. And you look absolutely marvelous in that costume. Actually, you look like a GG wearing that costume.
