In a charity shop today I purchased a black leather miniskirt and as I always do, only bought from a GG assistant when there were no other customers in the shop.
I handed my money over and while the elderly assistant was putting the skirt in the bag she said 'I want to see you in that skirt, Sir '. loud enough for her colleague/co-worker to hear.
Couldn't get out of the shop fast enough!

You could have just look at her and said "Where is the changing room". I bet that would have taken her back a step.

Sounds like she was doing a little busting, not knowing the real story. I think I might have come back with an answer like JoAnn's or Vanya's.

I'll never understand what the attitude is of a few people who don't understand us and feel they need to 'punish' us for our CDing somehow!
It can range from something like the comment you got, to just a stern glare from a GG as she 'reads'. Somehow, some people feel like it is up to them to make you feel bad about yourself.
These people probably think of themselves as generally tollerant, but given the chance if you are not like them then you need to be ostracized.
We need to somehow turn the tables on them and find a way to let THEM know just how far out of the mainstream they are when 99% of people can accept us without difficulty and it is THEY that have the problem.

Is she probably was joking when she said that. I dont have a problem buying femme things at all. I usually get thats a nice gift or they do make a joke like the statement that was said to you. I always ask if it doesnt fit can I bring it back if Im not sure because some things even though you know your size might be too big or too small , it depends on the make of the clothing.

I would have said, "As soon as I find shoes to go with it, I'll be back". I'm sure it was just a harmless joke.

I think this is the way all human beings behave anyway.

She probably wished she could fit into it. :D
You can only be embarrassed if you allow yourself to be. Get a sense of humor. Years ago, an experienced tranny told me--If you are going to do this, do it right and have a set of balls, because it takes balls to be a tranny". She was so right. I have had remarks like this made to me over the years. The difference is that I don't even remember them. My response is always a big smile and some smart remark in return. Always handle sarcasm with a smile and humor. The sarcastic one will not know how to handle it.

coulda said, in a loud voice, "Really? That's kind of kinky of you!"
I think she was serious and REALLY did want to see you in it. For all you know 'hubby' is at home doing the dusting in a maid's outfit.

Just take the high road on this and don't reply with an insult. It will make us all look better in the long run. You're probably not going to change her views anyway, so I would just let it bounce off.

Oh, if I had to guess I would suspect she meant it as a joke and did not think you were a CD. And I love the fact that most of the snappy replies above would have put it right back in her lap! If you think YOU were embarrassed....

I hav been crossdressing off and on since I was 11. I can remember a couple of times that when asked if what i was buying was for me. I was at a Sears store in the late 1980's when a young sales clerk asked if the bra i was buying was for me and I told yes it was, and she disappeared into the back room and another sales clerk had to finish my sale.I don't know why they have to ask its not their business but just in case i'll ask to use the fitting room to make sure what I am buying will fit.

Soory that happened to you. It has also happened to me but after almost fainting, I asked if she could help me find a blouse. Feeling guilty or embarresed is no fun. This happened years ago. Now I just let them know that I am a Cd and I would leave if they wanted. 95% of the time they help me.
